  1. Hi everyone

I've asked similar questions before and myself and fiancee are just getting the documents ready to start the process of applying for a K1 visa.

I am an Irish citizen and my fiancée is a US citizen.

I would love to here the answers of people who have been in a similar situation. Both parties living outside the US or of course an expert.

We plan to move to the US when visa is granted and get married and continue with an adjustment.

    Our main concerns before applying.

Because we are both living outside the US, does this need to be specified in any way apart from under address of my fiancee ?

& this is what is concerning us the most

Because we are both living outside the US, my fiancee does not have a US income for the affidavit of support (Her US accounts have not been serviced for a few years). We are both working here with relatively good salaries and will have a decent savings account. My fiancee is especially worried about this. What is the best way to approach the application in this instance?

Thanks for reading and I hope our minds can be put at ease. Thank you

  2. Thanks everybody for the answers so far, getting ready to send off the petition. Because we both live in Dublin is there anything apart from filling the forms out indicating this that we have to do differently?

And preparing for the next stage. Is the co sponsor part straight forward? I have relative in the US that would be more than willing to fill this out. Can this be anybody?

    Thanks again

  3. Okay this is great advice guys and thank you. Is the fact that my then wife is not living in the US become a problem?

Is Residence in the U.S. Required for the U.S. Sponsor?

Yes. As a U.S. sponsor/petitioner, you must maintain your principal residence (also called domicile) in the United States, which is where you plan to live for the foreseeable future. Living in the United States is required for a U.S. sponsor to file the Affidavit of Support, with few exceptions. To learn more, review the Affidavit of Support (I-864 or I-864EZ) Instructions.

  4. Hi everyone, first time poster. I have been researching the last few days about which visa route myself (Irish citizen) and my fiancée (US citizen) both residing in Ireland should go about immigrating to the USA.

I have a question about getting a Work Permit on a Fiancé(e) Visa. As I have already travelled to the USA on a J1 visa, I already have a social security number etc. Would this help me get a work permit quicker? We are trying to find a route to the US which would have us a arrive in January 2017 and ideally I would be able to work on arrival.
