  1. Trying to help my sister-in-law in the Philippines, fill-out her DS-160 form for a tourist visa. We had to stop after very 1st page so we SAVE. When we go back to RETRIEVE, we follow the directions regarding application ID number and security questions but it keeps stating that the information is wrong.  I am 99% sure that it is not., but none the less, stuck.

my question is, would starting over with another application be a problem, considering that her name and birthday (and possibly other identifying info.) are already in the system?

it HAS NOT been submitted only just started.

Yes, I did this. I applied for the passport with physical documents and then applied online (using scanned copies of all the docs) for the n600. I answered yes for applying for passport - I think there was somewhere I could note it had not been issued yet? - and then when I got her passport, I uploaded a scan of that to the documents part of the n600 application, with a note explaining that it had been issued after the n600 application was submitted. The n600 got approved pretty soon after that. This was pre Covid, I think it took around 2 months for the passport (there was an RFE) and 3 months to n600 approval.

    Hi Susie,

(For the passport)When you say "physical documents" did they accept photo copies or did they insist on originals? The application instructions make it sound like they need to see original but will accept photo copy to send off with the application but when I spoke to a a person from the State Department help line she insisted they would require the original be sent off with application.  The problem with that is my wife and stepson will be applying for passport at the same time and both require my wife's citizenship certificate as proof of citizenship. Thanks for any insight.

  3. Curious if anyone has experience applying for a child's passport and N-600 at the same time?

I know many people will say "why get both?" "passport is cheaper" but given the documentation needed ( mother's citizenship certificate, birth certificate, mother's marriage certificate  etc.) just to get the passport, I am thinking later in life if he needs to renew a lapsed passport he may have trouble getting all those documents again.  There is one question on the N-600 application where they ask if you have ever applied for N-600 or a passport before.  at this point my answer would be no but during the process they may discover that we are applying (a few weeks from now).  Not sure what impact that will have on the application process. The minor child is 17 and turns 18 later this year.

  4. So, my wife's interview is next week.  What can she expect to happen after the interview (assuming she passes the test)?  Is she told right away that she is approved?  Do we wait on a letter?  Also, if approved will she get some proof to carry that she is a citizen. Everything I have read regarding minor children is that they automatically receive citizenship as well but have seen no mention of any paperwork for the children.  How will they show they are citizens?

    Sorry for all the questions

    Thanks

    Finally!!!

California filer. 351 days, almost a year. No interview, no RFE

July 16, 2018 - sent package to CSC
    July 30, 2018 - NOA Extension delivered
March 11, 2019 - Fingerprint Review Was Completed
May 11 2019 - Case Transfer to Nebraska Service Center
July 11, 2019 - New Card Is Being Produced

    Congrats to you?

It seems, and I may be wrong, that of all the people who were California filers and have been approved, most if not all had been transferred to the Nebraska office.  Does that seem accurate for those of you who have been keeping track?  Wondering now what factors determined who was transferred and who was not...and if those of us still in California office are just doomed for a much longer processing time by sheer luck of the draw.

  7. In regard to the Case Tracker app for phones, has anyone else had trouble getting it to recognize your receipt number?

I downloaded it months ago but have never been able to make it work.  I try importing the case from My.uscis.gov and it tells me that my username and password may be wrong.  I try adding it manually and it tells me that it can't find the receipt number.  The same receipt number as well as the username and password work fine on the my.uscis.gov website.

  8. Does anyone know what generates the Visa Journey approval estimates?   I am guessing that it uses some sort of average based on the data input on the timelines and I guess it can be skewed by an abnormal entry or a mistake.  I had been getting  them regularly and the date was steadily decreasing by a week or 2 but today I get one that pushes it back 5 mos.

Last weeks was Your I-751 Approval Estimate

This week's is Your I-751 Approval Estimate

My wife got the bio(finger print) done in Houston on March 14 2019, but we still have not hear any news about bio is complete on the web site yet. Did this happen to anyone else?

My wife had her's done in Houston on March 25th 2019 and 24 hours later the status showed as "Fingerprint Review Completed".  The only site we check is https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/

Since then, we have started getting the "We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time" emails.  We are actually July 2018 filers but I check the other forum threads to stay informed.

Thank you for all the replies but I think y'all are missing the point. I am even reading i751 experiences in this same community and MOSTLY (not to say all) of them had the same pattern. Between 5 to 7 weeks after the first NOA people received the Appointment Notice for Biometrics and the actual appointment was something between 6 to 9 weeks . I am certainly not asking about the whole processing time because I know it takes forever and I just have to wait, sit back and relax. I am expressing the idea that with the new extension period (18 months), times for NOA are gonna get longer.

I wish someone who had applied after June 28th 2018 would reply this topic to compare.

FYI, We applied July 2nd and received NOA + extension letter and nothing else.  Indeed, it seems this is the norm.

  11. Hello,

We just submitted our package on July 2nd.  Petitioning for my wife and 2 dependent children (on same form).  We are awaiting the NOA and I understand that this is to be carried with the expired green card for the duration of time before receiving the new green card.  I have 2 questions.

    1. Will all three alien identification numbers be listed on the receipt so that we can make copies for each of them to have to show that they are pending removal of conditions?  I know that minors do not have to carry green cards all the time but they are 15 and 17 and would not want them in a situation where we can't show the status of each of their cards.

    2.  Everything I have read indicates that the receipt is good for 1 year but I have also seen where most timelines for California Field Office take up to 18 months.  How is that handled?

    Thanks

  12. Anyone know the best way to find out if a SSN application was even processed?

So, at the same time I filed for the CR1 / CR2 visas for my wife and step children I also checked the box for SSN numbers. They have been in the country for 2 weeks now. The cards came in the mail for my wife and stepdaughter after the first week. I have still not gotten the one for my stepson. I tried calling the national number for SS and after finally getting a person on the phone they say I have to call the local office. She did say that she did not see a number assigned for him (when looking him up by name). When I finally found a number for the local office I found out that it automatically routes to the national office. Then they tell you to call the local office...again. Arrg,,,they really want to make it difficult to get answers.

I tried to go in person this morning and the lines were ridiculous.

Does anyone know a way to find out if the process even got startred? Not sure if I should start over or not. My original thought was that it just got lost in the mail but the fact that one lady told me she could not find a number under his name concerns me.

    Thanks.

  13. I wouldn't gamble on that cuz I did before with 2 weeks after her interview and didn't get the visa to 2days after had to rebook

    Wow. OK, thanks

Hope you dont mind me asking but did you have to pay like a $300 fee for changing departure or was it more? I am thinking fi the initial difference is bigger than the resheduling fee it might be worth it. But then again I think you have to pay the difference in new rate plus the fee. I have 3 tickets to buy so this is a concern.

    Thanks

  14. So I know there are older threads on this but wondering about recent trends.

CR1 and CR2 visas from Manila embassy delivered to Marikina 2GO.

interview scheduled for August 22nd and hoping to book a flight for September 5th. That's around 14 calendar days I think but the 10th day is a Thursday. With 3 tickets to buy I could save about $1500 booking on the 22nd (after approval) rather than wait until visa in hand

    Thanks

  15. Hello, I realize this was a couple months ago but can you tell me how long it took to get the visa? Have our interview soon and thinking about gambling on booking the flight ahead of time (after approval but before visa in hand). It would be about 13 calendar days after interview.

    Thanks

  16. Ok, so the wife has to undergo the sputum test. She is on day 2 of producing the samples.

Our original interview date is July 15th. The results of the sputum test wont be ready until August 15th.

Meanwhile the status of the case still shows "At NVC" even though its been nearly 3 weeks since we got the P4 letter.

My question is who reschedules the interview and if it is me when do I contact the embassy to do it? Do I have to wait until after the results or can I do it before? My plan was to wait until the case shows "At Embassy" but I am not sure why that is taking so long.

I also wonder if any of this (meaning interview and or time to wait for visa) will be expedited after the results or we have to wait another month for an interview and then 7-10 days for visa.

    Any insight is appreciated.

  17. In with the visa packet (it's what they call the do not open packet) that you will receive when the passport is sent there will be a form DS-3025 that will show all the immunizations received. There is no need for it now so don't be looking for it. It will be given to her at POE when immigration opens her packet.

    Understood.

    Thank You, Po
