Interview schedule for gc is a month from now ---
something to look forward to.

Hi! Did you initiate your AOS process with your married name or maiden name? At what time did you require the name change?
The day I got my marriage certificate I headed to SSA for a name change so that their database will be updated and since I had the intention of filing my AOS under my married name. I just felt that it's basic to do changes first at the SSA so that the rest of my documents will be easy and accesible like driver's license, RN license etc...

Congrats to the recent approvals!!!
I have a question for anyone that's done this already, how long did it take for your social security card to have a name change?
I keep getting the most ridiculous responses of oh six weeks when on my letter it said four and no matter who ispeak to I get no straight answer!
Just wanted to see if anyone is in the same boat
I'm screwed waiting for it coz the driving test center won't let me take the test without the actual card
one wait after another !
Hi. I got mine via mail 2 weeks after I applied for a name change.

Rona1979 thank u for your help we got an update today for EAD "new card is being produced; on feb. 13 we ordered u a new card." Date is weird becuase I put in a service request the feb.15, doesn't really matter becuase it worked my husbands EAD is coming!
I was also wonder if USPS leaves EAD in the mail box or does someone need to be home to receive it and sign or something?
So glad about your news.
and yes... USPS will just leave the card in your mail. No need to sign or acknowledge receipt of card.

Just got my EAD/AP Card today. Yay!!!!! Thank God.

Thanks for the info rona1979!!! This Sunday Feb.14th marks day 75, but we'll wait till Tuesday since I think Monday is a holiday and they will most likely be close which is a bummer
and just our luck!
You are most welcome. I made my service request on a Sunday (superbowl). The next day i had a response. I suggest u do the same thing eventhough it's a holiday or weekend so that by Tuesday you will have your answer.

https://egov.uscis.gov/e-Request/Intro.doSorry, I meant a service request for my husbands EAD. What info do u need to do it online?
Check that link.. click on case outside processing times.. info needed: receipt number, applicant's personal info like birthdate etc.. your address.. just be sure it's already 75 days before you check. Your count begins based on uscis receipt notice.
Good luck

When u put in a service request what info do u need? Is it better do it via online or phone?
I did a service request for my EAD via online since it was already outside processing times (75days). For i485, i am not sure if you can do this online (although i read that their processing times is 4months). As i have mentioned before, a friend's case status is ready for interview but no date assigned. She called uscis but they can not give an actual date. In short, the waiting period continues.

Hello, congratulations to everyone who got their EAD! I am still waiting... So should I count the days since the last update on the USCIS webpage (which is also our NOA1 date)??
We have the same timeline.. i did my service request last feb7 (sunday) and got a response the next day. EAD card being mailed status now.
-
Hey we are at month since our i485 was ready to be scheduled for an interview and we still have not received a date is this normal?
A friend of mine has the same case so she called up uscis about it. Still waiting for her interview date.
-
Ead being mailed now.. latest update this morning since it was 'being produced' last monday.
-
Finally! An update on my case status.
Jan26... 2nd biometrics appointment
Feb7... (superbowl hehe) service request after
75 days for EAD
Feb8.... status update : Card is being produced!
Yay! I guess it's time to apply for a Nursing job here in SoCal.
Thank God!

Yeah, annoyingly, I was told that it wouldn't affect them processing my EAD. When I think about it, considering the EAD is applied for on the basis on an accompanying Adjustment application, I guess it makes sense that it would delay it too.
A friend of mine filed Oct 2015. REceived an RFE Nov for i-485 regarding i-864 but she still got her EAD/AP this January.
-
They don't confirm biometrics if it's that what you mean. Still waiting on my EAD/AP but I got a RFE and it depends on that.
Oh okay. I'm quite paranoid coz my biometrics didnt look good too the 2nd time.. i guess i just have to wait for another month and see if they would want me to do another one
Anyway, thanks for answering my last concern. Good luck to all of us

Hi Rona1979
I had the same problem. I just did a walk-in to redo the fingerprints. Maybe try that to have it at least a little faster.

1. I applied for name change at SSA after i got our marriage certificate. I didnt wait for ead/ap card. No problem at all! This is needed especially if u want your other IDs under your new name like driver's license etc.
2. Yes, i sent certified true copy of marriage just to be safe as well as wedding photos
3. Yes.

Wrong last name in receipt notice. Uscis fault.

I got my receipt notice for my i751 last year with the same middle name and last name. USCIS mistake. Instead of Ortega Garcia, it became Ortega Ortega. I submitted typographical error request online , and then received a letter after a few weeks from uscis that corrections will be made later on (probably during interview). My concern is if I travel abroad, will immigration question my Receipt notice? Do i need to make an infopass and have i551 to avoid complications when I travel abroad?
