We have been 14 months since they were sent to the FBI and 11 months since his interview. There is nothing to do but wait believe me, even a senator cannot move them. Yes he is from a North African country but I saw someone else on this board with a long wait from Scotland, and someone else from Morocco who got theirs right away so it doesn't make much sense.

We went to our congresswoman's office yesterday to meet with the field rep handling all of the immigration issues. We have been waiting 1 year for our I-485 AOS to be approved. We were told that there are 450,000 I-485's pending and that last Friday an agreement was made with USCIS to issue green cards to all of those people by August even if the back ground checks were not complete and that they would then complete the background checks at a later time. Some of the cases date back to 2001. We were told they decided to do this because so many lives were being disrupted because people were waiting for their green cards. This sounds so stupid its probably true! maybe others could call their congress men and woman to see if they get the same story. She also said they will keep reissuing multiple I-765's if people reapply (even though they say they will do this only once on the web site) because they are so far behind. I was also told the dates on the USCIS web site for I-485's were "#######"

Hi everyone! I'm bored and can't go out at least to buy groceries since DMV cancelled my license after my I-94 expired. My AOS & EAD are still pending and was told by DMV to present documents that will prove my legal presence. What will I do? I also have kids to send to school everyday, and it's a big burden for me and my husband. Thanks! God Bless!

Hi! I in need advise on how to acquire driver's license while my AOS is pending. My visa expired last week and DMV can't issue me an extension for my driver's license. They said that i need to present document showing my legal presence, which i did (after i got a receipt notice from USCIS). Unfortunately, they can't accept it as a proof. What they want is an Approved Petition. You see, it takes months and months before i can have that Approved Pettion form. I have kids to send to school everyday. Is there any other way I can do? Please help!

hi guys! please help me decide on what to do with my EAD card. I finally got it but it will expire two weeks from now. Do i need to send another I-765 again, this time checking the box that says renewal of permission? I haven't file yet my adjustment of status. Thanks!

DId you only receive the stamp at JFK or I believe if you sent in a I-765 and selected a(6) (i think) your EAD would have only been good until the expiration of your I-94, now you would need to apply for EAD in conjunction with your AOS submission and select c(9). Either way, you are going to have a laspe in your authorization to work. EAD's are taking around 90 days to receive. Your signature isnt complete and you are not giiving enough information to give you info on the next course of action.

Thanks so much! I haven's file my AOS yet since we were told before that I can apply for EAD first if I want to get a job. Now that i have it, i need (i guess) to renew it coz it will expire same with my I-94.

Good day to all VJer's!

I can't complete my AOS packet unless i verify from here that what I'm doing is correct. I'm sure plenty of you guys have undergone this procedure before ( with no problem!) I'm in K1 visa and got married Dec.2006. I was told by a representative from USCIS that i need to submit copies of I-485 for me and my 3 kids (15,11& 9 years old). And also, copies of G325 and I-864 as well. Is this true, or i'm just confuse? ? Do i need to pay the fees individually? I know that kids below 14 years old needs to pay only the $225 and not the biometrics. Lastly, can you send me a sample cover letter for the AOS packet. THANKS in advance!

Further, the question was asked in another thread "Do i mail all 3 of our applications together?". The response was:

You can and should send all three applications together to the Chicago Lockbox. You do not need to file for I-485 and then wait for receipt notice.

As for the I-765, since you will be filing concurrently with the I-485, you must put ( c )(9) for Q.16

For payment, use one check for I-485 + Biometrics and separate checks for each I-765.

Here's our update to give hope to those still waiting. Ara had her interview on the 27th of November and was approved. We tracked the visa on the Delbros web site and her visa was delivered on Saturday. She is at the CFO seminar today.

To forgyj, my documents did not have documentary stamps but I made sure my original documents had the required dry seal and if they were certified to be true copies, they were signed and likewise sealed by the office that certified it. I am certain that you have a Certificate of Registration for the declaration of nullity of your marriage based on Presumption of Death, otherwise the NSO would not have issued you an annotated MC. The Certificate of Registration is a government and NSO requirement prior to annotation of the MC.

The registration is required according to Section 7 of Republic Act No. 3753 http://www.chanrobles.com/republicactno3753.htm

"Sec. 7. Registration of marriages. — x x x

In cases of divorce and annulment of marriage, it shall be the duty of the successful petitioner for divorce or annulment of marriage to send a copy of the final decree of the court to that local civil registrar of the municipality where the dissolved or annulled marriage was solemnized"

...My question is, since Jenalyn has received a letter from the Manila embassy stating they have received the petition, is it from that "received" date mentioned in the letter that we can begin "counting" the days?

Yes! At least that is what the Manila Embassy staff told me, but they also said that we would be issued an interview date somewhere between the end of Aug to early Sep. It seems that if there is not a law or guideline stating how things will be a particular aspect of the drawn out process, then it's a ####### shoot on whether the information given is credible or not.

Hey you guys,

Its funny how we all hear different things. I will tell my story. I started calling the embassy the day I heard our file was shipped. At first I was told that they would schedule an appointment soon, and then they started saying longer and longer until it reached 120 days. They finally fessed up that because so many visas came in, and they don't know who they are talking to on the phone they just give everyone the same 120 day answer, true or not.

What I was unofficially told was every one whos visa arrived from NVC before the end of august should get a November appointment but that there was no guaranty because of all the Philippine and American holidays.

I was told in early September That they had 450 K-1s And 150 K-3s a couple of weeks ago I called again and I ask how many K-1s and K-3s they process per month , I was told 1000 in a normal month

Our Attorney in the philippines told us to expect late October or early November I said all the October appointments were taken and she said "Yah maybe you are one of those" I told her about the web site to check our appointments and she said they are not using that right now. I called the embassy and they confirmed that that the site had not been updated lately. My fiance was told to expect to be here in late November.

I don't know what the truth is you guys. I don't think anyone is lying or trying to mislead us I think they truly don't know but I think there is still hope that it won't be to long, but don't get mad if it is. I have a different story than you,but I still don't know anymore than you do.

I would like to know if everyone got the letter or just a few, and if this is something new or if they have sent this letter in the past , and if they have sent this letter in the past then how long after the letter did the appointments come.

PS tell your fiance to be nice to the postman!!

According to elizabeth's timeline, 2 weeks. How about you Ken & Ara, when did you receive the letter?

We were originally told they received our file on August 23rd, but according to Ara, the letter says August 11th which is more like Ulings timeline. Our NOA 2 was July 31st. She said the letter was postmarked September 6th and delivered in Metro Manila the same morning. Not that close to the Embassy

We old-timers never received such letter. That's a good sign. This means that the embassy is improving their service and communicating better with the petitioner/beneficiary.
It's election season in America so I guess that partly explains it. The Republicans want your votes!

I just called the IV unit at the US Embassy and they were not aware of any letters, but she reminded me that she did not work in the operations unit that schedules K-1 appointments. If I understand the letter correctly because I have not seen it personally, it says to get together the papers that you will need for the interview. Since they want current information I would assume the appointment will be in the next 60 to 90 days. What do you think?

I would not spend any money at all...I made a few of the so called "mistakes" and got approved anyways. As long as the info is there and there aren;t any red flags you should be able to do it yourself. Look at the examples in visajourney and that should be enough

You can add us to the list. Our computer file arrived at the Embassy on or before August 8th but the physical file did not arrive until on or about August 24th. I was told by the embassy staff that our worst case scenario is a December appointment but to expect November, they said they have about 450 K-1s to process and about 150 K-3s at this point. I was told that the only thing that would slow them down is the fact that November has so many holidays. They said they would release the new schedule within the next 2 weeks. I am just passing on the information I was given I hope it is accurate. Maybe someone can double check with the embassy.

The applicants have been scheduled an interview for 17-OCT-2006 07:15

And the appointment packet was sent 8/25/06.

Just thought i should let you guys know that we have decided to call it a day and we have ended our relationship.
I was due to go over in 5 weeks time to live in the US but it became too much and the pressure was more than the love so after 2 years we are no longer going to be together.

What Does Distance Do?

Infatuation: absence makes the heart grow fonder - of somebody

else! In infatuation Sue and Sam have been interested mainly

in each other's physical equipment. That is, what they can

see, hear, smell, taste or touch about each other. Such

interest is hard to sustain when they're separated by a

thousand miles. Since only a few things attract them to each

other, the roots of the relationship are thin. It won't last

long unless it gets nourished by a lot of face-to-face

contact.

After the infatuated couple is apart for a few days or weeks,

they begin to lose interest. After a while the physical

equipment of some more available person begins to look good to

them. So if it is infatuation, it will die with distance.

Real Love: survives separation. It may even grow. Absence

does indeed make the heart grow fonder. Why? Because love is

rooted in attraction to the other's total personality, not

just physical appeal. When you are in love, a great many of

the tendrils of your personalities tend to grow together, to

unite you into loving oneness. When you have to be apart, you

are not your whole self.
