  1. This is orange girl here:

In July I got my green card. Next thing I did was to apply for tons of jobs, and sign up with a staffing agency. One week later, the first assignment. 3 weeks. Fastforward 3 months later, they kept me, I recently got hired for great position within the company, and I'm making the most of this opportunity, learning a lot about the industry, giving my all to meet all the expectations and perform a great job - yes, I'm a perfectionist. I love my job, I love the company I work for, it's a happy environment, and I love my co-workers. It really was a bliss getting this job, and I couldn't be happier. My mom is in town visiting, and my relationship with my husband gets stronger each day.

Just a little update about how my life is at the moment. :)

Wonderful! Congratulations on all your progress and accomplishments so far. :)

  2. Yeah I don't know why the biometrics appointment came so fast. Hopefully the rest of the process will be fast.

    ?

Yeah, I think it just depends on the local office. I live in the Seattle area and apparently that office is one of the busiest so I think that's why it is taking longer for us to get an appointment letter. Hope it comes soon. My husband really wants to work as soon as possible.

  3. Hey everyone! We did it! My HUSBAND moved here 7/18, we had our wedding on 7/30 and today we mailed the AOS packet (a week sooner than we had planned). Feels good to have packets done for the time being. The AOS packet was no where near as tedious as the petition. The I-864 was probably the most work. How is everyone's AOS coming along? Anyone received their EAD?

  4. My fiance arrived yesterday from London. He was supposed to have an hour and a half connection in Edmonton, Canada to Seattle. His plane out of London was an hour late. He missed his connection because the US Border Control in Canada were the ones to call him into the room and open his packet and ask a few questions. The airline sorted him out on another flight not too long after. Thank God... because US border control had already stamped the K1 stamp in his passport. Very interesting! I honestly thought Seattle would be his POE. But, he's here. Another small disturbance in the process. So anyone connecting in Canada to the US, take note and allow for extra time for your POE process.

  5. We got our NVC number today! Now what? Is that all we need to begin the online forms to book the interview or do we have to wait Until the embassy relieves the file?

You can fill out the DS-160 with the NVC number and you'll also want to schedule the medical exam. After the medical exam and all your documents are ready, you fill out the online Notification of Readiness Form to inform the embassy in London that you are ready for interview. You are able to schedule your interview online. But be sure to space out your medical exam and interview enough time for the embassy to receive your exam results-- and I strongly encourage 3-4 weeks because my fiance needed an additional letter from his doctor after the medical and it took about a week or two longer for the results to go to the embassy (so it was a good thing it was spaced out by a month). So unless you are truly in an urgent hurry, I recommend doing it in the steps outlined on their website here. Good luck!

  6. My fiance had his interview yesterday and he was approved!

I think I'm one of the last to get the visa - our case was ready for interview on Jan 26th, but we were traveling together outside of his country for several months, so we scheduled the interview for after he got back.

We are getting married on August 20th in Sedona, Arizona, an outdoor wedding on the red rocks. I just bought my fiance's ticket to fly here on August 10th. Didn't wait to have the visa in hand as recommended, but since the ticket is for almost three months from now I feel pretty confident we'll be ok.

Congratulations to everyone on here who has finished the process. Love hearing all the lovely wedding stories. I can't wait to have my fiance here.

There's still some of us out there. :) No visa yet. My fiance has his interview in London June 17th. He will be moving here to Seattle in August. I just spent 10 days in England and he was here in February. So we have had some time together. I think there are still a few more waiting for visas.

  7. Well I have to say after a week I have learned five things from Ms. (soon to be Mrs) Aisha.

    1) There are a lot of cars in America

    2) No one walks

    3) A lot of 'big' people

    4) Dr. Pepper (translation for Midwesterners--Pop) is not a daily requirement

    5) Mexican food is not that good

That last one is a first. Everyone I've ever known, even those folks from up in the neither regions of the USA (Yankees), all love Mexican food. So, I am now learning to eat a lot of fruit, vegetables, fish/chicken, and rice--which I should have been doing anyway.

Haha! That is so funny! Never met anyone that doesn't like Mexican food. My fiance loves it. That's the first thing he asks for when he comes to the US. She is right about everything else...lol :)

  8. Congratulations! So happy they are there with you finally!

    Congratulations!

Sorry if I missed anyone else. I've been MIA having some major paper bag moments, leading to me getting an emergency plane ticket today to fly to Turkey tomorrow. :( Major crisis going on with fiance's mother and her health. Hoping she is ok and really hoping I can still get him to his interview next week. As of now, the interview is up in the air. On top of that, his interview is in Ankara where there have been 3 major terrorist bombings in the last few months.

I was not planning to be there now, but I'm hoping this will all lead to me being told good news in person on April 7 (though the embassy says I can't enter for the interview itself).

So any support, prayers, karma, good juju, or whatever you each believe in, will be greatly appreciated! I couldn't have gotten this far without this group, so thank you all.

Aww! Sorry to hear about your stress. Sending you positive thoughts!

My fiance has his medical in London on my birthday, April 14th. Yay! Moving along. Slow and steady. :dancing::luv:

  9. Finally got everything done and interview booked. Unfortunately the earliest appointment is for August 1st. So 4 more months without my love. But soon!

Holy smokes! August! That's a long wait for an interview. We will have our interview sooner but my fiance will not be moving to the US til August. We decided he will continue working in the UK and save some more money up... (that AOS fee...yikes). September weddings are always lovely though. ;-)

Interview is set for April 28th, Already booked her flight and hotel, and I'm hoping everything goes smoothly, she'll take the medical monday and tuesday and thursday go for the interview then CFO on friday before returning home..... Oh I hope everything goes well.

    Yay! Congrats :)

  10. Guys, a very silly question I couldn't get clarified:

when I arrive there, will I have to apply for the social security number BEFORE the registry building wedding or AFTER?

Can I just go to the place wth my fiancé and my passport with the visa on it and get married just like that?

    thanks!

Also, I did read on another topic *not* to wait until after if your wedding will be near the 90 day mark. Others recommended getting the ssn right away if you are being added to bank accounts or medical insurance and changing your name after. But either way has been successful for people. Hope that helps. :)

You don't need the SSN to get married. And most ladies get their ssn after if they will be changing their last name. You can get one before, but you'd have to go back to the social security office again after you get married to document the name change.

  12. Hmmm.... the I-134 form on the USCIS website still says it expired 2/29/16.

Couple questions though... on question #8 of who is dependent on me for support... what do I put there? Do I put my 5 yr old son? Do you put the fiance? Or leave it blank. Also, #11... how you intend to provide/contribute. Do I just put that it is in reference to a K1 Visa and fiance will begin working after AOS and work authorization?

I have 3 years IRS income transcripts. But as far as employer letter... what do they need to provide? Hire date, full time status, salary on letterhead? Should they address it to the London embassy?

    Thanks!
