I had my medical two months before my interview date, and it wasn't at the consulate when I had my interview! The consulate was great about it and immediately emailed the physician in Sydney on the day of my interview. It took about two weeks from the day of the interview for the visa to be issued and mailed to me.

Hi Everyone,
I hope this is in the right section.
I've had my visa approved and am now in the stages of working out how to move. I don't think I'll be taking too much with me, so I should be able to get away with the luggage allowance on the airline. So, what I was wondering is if there's anything in particular that I need to do before leaving? Did you have to notify any government agencies of leaving the country? Did you bother closing bank accounts before leaving, or have you kept them open? Did you cancel insurance policies etc? I guess I'm curious about how other people managed the move.
Thank you for your help.

Hello Everyone,
Apologies if this has been asked before, but I've had a search of the forums and couldn't really find anything that answered my question.
My interview is on Tuesday (19th) at the Sydney Consulate, and I'm just in the final stages of preparing my documents. The Instructions for Immigrant Visa Applicants in Australia lists a CV as one of the required documents. I was wondering if there is any particular format for this that needs to be followed, or will a standard, ordinary resume suffice?
Thank you in advance!

Ausgirl, the Sydney process really is easy. Most likely the consulate will be busy - there will be a slew of Americans in there renewing passports or registering new little ones or getting documents notarized. They'll be in the same big waiting room as you - but don't stress.
Just remember - once you go through security, there IS NO BATHROOM. Go before you clear security. There are some right at the bottom of the staircase by the sitting area outside security.
The staff was really nice and friendly.
Best of luck next Tuesday!

Thank you Sukie, it's nice to hear supportive comments, particularly from a fellow Australian. Under a week now!

My interview is in a week. Feeling a little nervous. Just had to get that out. From all the reviews I've read it sounds like a fairly painless process, but I can't help but get caught up in how this feels like such a huge thing because it means I will finally get to be with my husband forever. After months of stress and waiting, I'm so happy to be so close to the finish line, but it doesn't stop the nerves.

I've found the NVC process slightly more bearable too. You can actually talk to a human being for one thing! Just hanging out for my interview date to be assigned.

Wow congrats!!
Did you send the request for expedition?
My scan date is Nov 19th.
No, we didn't put in a expedite request. I'm not sure why we got through so fast, so I won't question it, lol.

Our documents we scanned by the NVC on Nov 17th and we just got official word that we got case complete on Dec 3rd, yay!

Scan date Nov 17th, and we got case complete on Dec 3rd.

my scan date was 29th October and i saw today 3 N/A on the website, so i guess the case is completed
That's great! Getting close to 17 Nov!

Our scan date (I'm not too sure about these terms, but I think it's the date the NVC says they receieved your AOS and IV documents) is Nov 17 and we haven't heard anything. In the NVC filers December 2015 thread, someone with a scan date of approx. October 23 just got their third N/A on the CEAC website. So that date might help you approximate when you hear something.
CR1 Visa Question - Birthplace/Nationality
in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures
Posted
Hi,
I just wanted to ask what is probably a very nit-picky question. On my visa it as Birthplace as ASTL and nationality as ASTL. On my passport it has the Australian suburb/town I was born in, but the visa just has the country. I assume this is okay? I just wanted to check if other peoples were the same?
Thank you
