Hi, how did your petition go with your mother? coz I'm planning on petitioning my father and we have same situation , he's middle name misspelled on my birth certificate...

My mom's already in the US and working :)  with her middle name typo on my birth certificate, this is what I have done

for example her name on her BC: MARIA DELA CRUZ  (not her real name)

Mother's name on my BC: MARIA DILA CRUZ

What I did - Affidavit from 3 People including her that MARIA DILA CRUZ AND MARIA DELA CRUZ are one and the same person and that she is my mother

Also NBI should contain MARIA DILA CRUZ as one of the aliases

  2. Since the typo error was only in my BC, Affidavit from Dad and Mom notarize stating basics, age, name, that they are married, that they were both there at time of birth, my mom's middle name on my BC hay typo and that the typo name and the real name are one and the same person and that they are both my biological parents. We had it notarized in Ph. That was enough to provide proof that they are truly my parents. i was prepared to write an affidavit and notarize in US for my statement but both my parents affidavit were enough I guess.

Now my mom's name itself also had a typo on her own birth certificate (another typo it's her last name, one character off again). She had it fix at local and the usual typo correction process. Also then put the wrong spelling name in her NBI since it is her own document. But the 3rd typo in her name on my BC was not even raised as an issue during interview they didn't look for the original copy at all.(i only submitted photocopy affidavit)

Also, i think our local civil didn't really think we had to correct her name in my BC. I didnt push coz there are other ways to provide evidence of parent (some doesnt even have BC and few affidavits and and school, hospital records were good enough) I know that because my aunt didn't have one and she petitioned my grandma. Her BC was destroyed. No record)

Hope yours works like our case! Good luck ?

  3. I went with my parents when they were interviewed at the embassy, I honestly wonder why people dress too business. Interview is quick and consul looks at lots of paper so I dont think they look at the clothes. Ofcourse no shorts or tank top and likes. Smart casual is good. There's a

Lot of walking too in and out embassy and inside so wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

  4. That's cool! Please let me know how did the flight went from Cebu. I am from Visayas as well, good to know that there are other options than Manila. Too crowded in Manila. Be prepared to wait in Dallas when she gets out may take longer, atleast you know ahead ?

  5. She maybe getting her baggage and drop it again in domestic flight so if it was me I would fly via Lax or SanFo because there are a lot of Filipinos they can asked(but if she doesn't have a problem communicating in English no worries you can do POE any airport, I'm thinking about parents traveling in my case)

  6. I'm from Dallas and my friens arrived in Dallas as POE. All took more than an hour to clear(more than 2hours even from

Landing flight to getting out of airport. All have dallas as end destination As far as I know we dont have separate line for new immigrants, it is the same line for all that's why it takes longer. Not like SFO or other Airports

  7. Today is my parents visa interview and it's APPROVED!

    Questions are:

    Who is your petitioner?

How many kids does my parents have?

How many kids does the petitioner have?

    Petitoners work?

    Petitioners husbands work?

When did the petitioner go to the US?

How did the petitioner go to the US?

How and when did the petitoner and the husband meet?

    Address of the petitioner?

When was the last time they saw or came to the Philippines?

After the long and unending questions finally they congratulated them. All glory to God!

    COngratulations!!! Happy for you! :)

  8. Should not be an issue (not end of the world type of situation) coming from my friend's first hand experience. My friend migrated to us and did not declare her daughter she was scared then that it will affect her petition. She later on petition her daughter. USCIS ask why and US Embassy ask for it during interview and she had to explain and prove of course that it is really her child. Her child now is in the US

  9. Oh no! Sorry to hear! yeah sad to say they have to renew NBI that way all the time like my mom it will take at least a week. Hope your mom can go to NBI ASAP and get one. Otherwise reschedule interview maybe an option then.(I found it easy actually i tried to reschedule mom's sooner but didn't push through the changes because of the same NBI issue).I'm glad they gave you notice

  10. You should have time, my mom asked for NBI clearance with AKA it would have been release the same day if she doesn't have hit. It always takes her a week to get her NBI because of the HIT. Just make sure they print the AKA since they missed it the first time we applied.

By the way do you need to bring police clearance other than NBI clearance?

  11. My friends parents were asked Where is the petitioner working and spouse, what is the address, when was the last time they saw them. Simple questions :)

We are going to Phils and will be there during interview. I plan to go with my parents during interview. Do you think embassy will let me accompany them?

  12. My parents will be interviewed at US Embassy Manila on June 13, and I have a question about my mother's NBI Clearance requirement.

My mom's name maiden name is MARIA DELA CRUZ and her name was misspelled in her birth certificate to MARIA DELA CROZ We had her birth certificate documents amended and it is now ok. She got her NBI Clearance with her maiden name and married name as well as alias MARIA DELA CROZ.

However, my mother's name was also misspelled on my birth certificate to MARIA DILA CRUZ. We have affidavit of one the same name from both of my parents to support this. She went to NBI to get an NBI that will bear MARIA DILA CRUZ. in the alias but NBI will not allow because it was used in my birth certificate and not in her birth certificate papers.

Thoughts on NBI Clearance? Any advice how we can get alias written?
