  1. Ah yes, there is that option too :) You can request a reschedule if the date isn't suitable for you. I have no experience of rescheduling so I cannot comment too much but I'm sure others would be able to should they have experience of that at the London embassy.

For London, the process to reschedule is on this webpage which is also the same webpage as I linked to above under the dropdown box: "I wish to change the date of my scheduled visa interview". It looks like it is just a case of filling in a little form on the website and waiting to hear back.

    Simon :)

My British fiance just successfully rescheduled his interview.

On April 12, he received the interview date.

It clashed with an important business trip out of the country so he asked for two weeks beyond the scheduled date.

He was honest and polite and CLEAR that should they not be able to grant the new date, he would keep the old one and let the chips fall where they may with work.

Today, four days later, he received a written letter granting his request!

    We're over the moon!

We had worried they would reschedule us months out but thankfully, it worked out!

  2. So it took a total of 3 days of looking for a job and now I have an IT job, they screwed me over with pay but that is okay...as soon as the AOS, I can get another job....my phone was ringing about every other minute after the 2nd day. I could have gotten a job that was high paying but I didn't want to risk her to not come...I can look for a job while I have this job.

Thanks for all your advice, there is some things I will use because I don't have a paycheck here yet at this new job.

    Congratulations!

Glad you found a job so quickly!

  3. Easing your mind.... :)

You will be fine. Super fine even. London is not harsh on this. Fill in the asset portion of the I-134. Provide financial statements to show the cash assets you have. If in several places, make a summary spreadsheet showing name of institution and balance as of [date]. Pick an end of month date for all. Then provide a total. That just gives them something to look at quickly without getting out a calculator and adding up the balances. Photocopies printouts of online statements are fine.

    Thanks, Nich-Nick :)

Being "super fine" would be lovely to feel :) I'll get there. Just a bundle of nerves right now so your response helped.

The idea of a spreadsheet is ace--will do!

  4. Hi everyone,

I haven't worked since mid-2014 when I was laid off. At that time, I became a full-time end-of-life caregiver for a family member.

Before being laid off, I amassed savings.

In cash, we will have approximately 11x the minimum income needed and I felt confident about meeting the financial requirement for my fiance.

My family member passed away late last year. I have been applying and going on interviews. No job yet however.

I'm feeling nervous. It may just be the stress of caregiving these past years, or just a pessimistic attitude. But my confidence is ebbing away.

I don't have anyone to cosponsor. Can anyone ease my mind?
    Think we'll be okay?

I know nothing can be guaranteed but...opinions and insight matter so thanks in advance for weighing in.

  5. Maybe I am an unlucky person I am still holding 77 days since they received my RFE no answer yet. I have to call on january 20 to open an inquiry and I scheduled an appointment in the immigration february 16th. I feel discouraged but God has the final say congrats y'all.

Do you mind sharing what your RFE was for and the evidence you responded with?

  6. Hi,

My fiance went through a difficult time 5 years ago.

Unable to cope with some horrible life circumstances, he turned to drugs and drink and fell into a depression.

He attempted suicide, saved himself, was admitted to hospital and treated for alcohol abuse.

He has been clean since, holds a good job of high respectability, and been a productive member of society.

    Should we be worried?
What documentation from physicians should we consider getting to preemptively address the issue with the consulate?

    Thanks!

  7. I agree with immrsregie that you might as well include a cover letter.

Having said that, we responded to a RFE without one.

We were issued the RFE for not including enough detail about the internet site through which we met.

They wanted proof we didn't meet through an international marriage broker.

We sent back 30+ pages of proof and just the blue sheet on the top of it all.

I didn't know about cover letters at that point.

So, while it may not be required that you include one, sending a cover letter may add to your peace of mind.

    Good luck!

  8. Hi everyone,

    Thanks for your replies.

Some things came up and this is the first I've returned to the thread.

But I wanted to let everyone know I appreciate the responses.

Nich-Nik--We hired a lawyer who bragged about doing tons of these K1 visas.

That should have been our first red flag.

We wrote very little about how we met and that vagueness set off an alarm on their end.

Had we explained the KIND of website ours was--as you did above--we wouldn't have received a RFE.

Anyway, yes, they were most concerned that it was an IMB.

Our response to the RFE is in the mail and we're hoping for an easy approval.

Darnell--Just to be safe, we addressed a bit of everything (who, what, when) including the where.

They mistakenly read "dating website" when we wrote "internet website called (.....)"

It wasn't a difficult thing to address in the end.

We're feeling confident it will all be okay. :)

Ahn map--I agree it doesn't pay to be too conservative in what we send in. I rather err on the side of too much, than not enough.

    That's our original mistake.

    Thanks for your advice.

Yuna--Hi Yuna, yes, their question lay more with the kind of website we met on--in other words, if it was a International Marriage Broker. The name of the website lends itself to that kind of conclusion so I don't really blame them. I blame the lawyer we hired for that part of the process. They felt it was fine to submit a single sentence about the place we met and not any other details except the number of times we met afterwards.

Wish I had found VisaJourney sooner!

  9. We received a RFE because our description of how we met was too brief on our I-129F.

It was simply too vague and misled them into thinking we met through a dating service.

Good thing we had a lawyer help with the application. /sarcasm.

We wrote that, "We met on the internet through (website name)." Then supplied two more sentences of when we first met, when we decided to meet, and how many meetings in total.

    That was it.

Our RFE asked that we include details about the website to show the circumstances of how we met, and also to provide evidence that it was not an International Marriage Broker.

I sent off our evidence today, certified mail.

Lets see how long it takes for an answer.

    Fingers crossed for everyone here!

  10. Hi JRF,

    Thanks for responding.

We eventually told each other our names in private messages and exchange email addresses.

We will highlight those parts in our messages.

I can establish my username was me because in my private album on the site are pictures of me.
People are anonymous on the open forum but strike up friendships sometimes and share their real names and photos behind the scenes.

    I appreciate your input!

  11. My fiance and I received a RFE asking for more information as to how we met and how the relationship was established.

We met on an anonymous advice message board. We flirted for a year before ever taking it off the board.

The problem is with the email proof of our early communications: they are saucy.

Not all of them are baudy but many of them are. We were still largely anonymous at that point, bold, and playful.

    Well now...well, they're just embarrassing!

Anyway, my question is: Should I black out the portions of the emails that are NC17? Or leave the sentences in?

With many of the emails, I may have to blacken out as much as 50% of it. My concern is it will make them wonder what we're hiding.

    Thoughts??

Nothing is pornographic--just ranging from highly suggestive to semi-explicit.

    Gah :(

  12. "In a prime-time televised address, Obama said he has "ordered the departments of State andHomeland Security to review the visa waiver program under which the female terrorist in San Bernardino originally came to this country."

Malik came to the U.S. on a K-1 visa, known as a "fiancée visa," when she moved to the United States to marry Syed Farook, her husband and accomplice in the massacre in the Southern California city last week.

The White House has acknowledged the error."
