  1. We went to our interview yesterday in San Bernadino. My wife (K-1) and her 2 kids (now 15 and 18) all had separate appointment times on their letters (30 minutes apart). The first appointment was at 7:30 so we arrived around 7:20 and put all three letters in the box. We waited for about an hour and then they called all the names at once, so all four of us went into the agent's office. She wasn't rude but was not very warm either. She had all their applications in front of her and started with my wife. She would ask about items that were in the application and check them off. I'm not sure if she was just checking to make sure if the application was correct or making sure we didn't have false information on there. She asked things like what are your parent's first names, what is your date of birth, what city were you born in, etc. She also asked my wife if she was married before (yes), how the marriage was terminated (death of her spouse), the date, etc. All information that was on the application. She also asked my wife for our house address, phone number, social security number. She asked when was the last time my wife had entered the country and then checked her passport to see if she was correct. After going through my wife's form, she then asked whether my wife had used drugs, been arrested, voted in the US, been a prostitute, applied for K-1 or K-3 visa before and other questions I don't remember....all with "no" answers".

She then did the same thing for both the kids with basically the same questions. She did omit the prostitute question for my 15 year old daughter. After going through their applications, she asked for the original birth certificates for my wife and her kids. She carefully compared these to what was in the application along with the translations.

She then asked for proof of our relationship. I had brought along pictures of our wedding and pictures of my wife's father's funeral where we all went back to Malaysia and I was included with the rest of the family in all the rituals. I had copies of vehicles that showed ownership in both of our names, insurance forms, paycheck stubs of her son (he works at my company so the paychecks have our home address on it) and various other forms. We don't have any joint bank accounts and the house is still in my name. The agent kept asking if I had more proof. She said I had brought a large stack of papers into the interview (I had brought copies of all three AOS applications...and even a copy of the K-1 application because that had a lot of pictures in it too....and she asked if I had anything else in my stack) and by not giving her more information, I was delaying her decision. So...I went through my stack of papers and found a few more things with both our names and gave them to her. She did not ask for any information about me...like my birth certificate, marriage license, etc.

After a few minutes more of looking at her papers, she asked for my wife's and kids passports, got up and left the room. She came back with three letters stating they were approved. Their I-94 (not sure if this is the correct number) had been ripped from their passports, leaving only the glued on visa. She said not to use the AP letter and EAD cards, but wait for the GC which would be arriving in a couple of weeks. She did not take the AP or EAD forms and cards we had brought and never asked to see them.

The time in the office took about 30 minutes and although she wasn't friendly, I didn't feel the interview was going badly. If we didn't have something she asked about, we just said we didn't have it and it stayed at that. When she got up to leave, I wasn't apprehensive because it seemed that everything was ok...which it was.

    So....that process is over.

Something to really give thanks for this Thanksgiving!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

  2. Hello everyone...

I don't follow this forum too closely....just kind of waiting for things to happen to my wife's case. She and her 2 kids got both their EADs and APs rather quickly and nothing had happened since then. No touches, no change on the status page at all. I made an infopass appointment just this past weekend and today...voila....3 appointment letters. Each one is 30 mins apart but I hope they call us in all together at one time as I've read has happened to others. Guess I'll cancel the Infopass appointment.

The USCIS status page stills show no changes...

  3. TO all you fellas who got their EAD card, Could you please share some information. I have couple of questions:-

    1) Did you get EAD card and approval notice in mail separate (or they the same thing?)

2)If you got EAD card in mail then what type of envelope was it? Was it from USCIS or was is it a plin white envelope from KY.

3)Same for APproval notice (if it is different then actual physical card), what envelope was it in?

I got EAD approval notice sent e-mail and card production ordered e-mails but never received anything in mail (EAD card or EAD approval notice). It's been more than 30 days and when i called USCIS then they said it's a lost mail because they never received it back from post office as undelivered and hence i have to reapply the whole EAD again????????

So it would be helpful to know what kind of envelope did you guys received your EAD card. Since, i looked at each and every mail for past 30 days and didn't get anything related to EAD. I got my AP document though(incidentally it was approved on same day as my EAD. Go figure that out).

    Sammy,

Sorry I can't answer all your questions but since no one has answered yet, I will answer what I can.

I didn't sign up for the e-mail notifications, so I didn't know the AP or EAD were coming...they just showed up in the mail. My wife is currently traveling and has the AP with her and I don't have the envelope any more but I remember it was just a plain envelope from USCIS I think. The approval came...no notice that it was approved was sent first.

I do have the EAD envelope...it's plain white, normal size (4.25" x 9.5"), with 2 clear windows for the return address and my address. The return address was PO Box 648005, Lee's Summit, MO 64064. It came from the USCIS Missouri Service Center. Did not receive a letter stating approval ahead of time...cards just showed up in the mail.

The AP envelope was the same size as the EAD envelope, with 2 copies of the AP approval and that's it, so both were relatively thin letters.

    Hopefully yours will arrive soon!

    Best of luck

  4. I filed for everything (AOS, AP and work authorization) for my wife (K-1) and her 2 kids (K-2) who are now 18 and 14 for a couple of reasons. First of all, my wife and oldest child can't get a driver license here in California without the work permit or green card. I also got the the work permits for the kids so they can get SSNs.

I'm very glad I filed for all 3 right away because on June 21st, they received their AP's and on June 22nd my wife's father passed away unexpectedly so we all flew back to Malaysia on the 22nd.

Anyway, my 2 cents is go ahead and file for it all. When my wife and kids return next week (they stayed longer than I did), we will try and get SSNs for the kids and driver licenses for my wife and step-son. I think it's worth it to get them all...even though your step-daughter is only 11.

    Good luck!

  5. Thanks in advance to all who read this and maybe offer some advice!

My fiance came about a month ago on a K-1 visa and we are going to get married this month and start the AOS process as soon as we're married. She applied for and received her SSN without any problems. Her kids are K-2 and I'm trying to get an ITIN for them. The insurance company at my work is requiring they have this (or a SSN) to enroll them.

I downloaded the W-7 form and am not exactly sure how to properly fill it out.

Under "Reason you are submitting Form W-7" I think I should mark "g - Dependent/spouse of a nonresident alien holding a U. S. visa". Is this correct?

I am not filing a tax return for another year so I can't include a tax return as a reason I need the ITIN. I am trying to open up a bank account for the K-2 holders and I have asked my bank to submit a document declaring a need for an ITIN, but they haven't gotten me an answer yet. I must meet one of the exceptions as to why I'm not filing a tax return with the W-7.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get an ITIN for my new kids?

    Thanks again!

  6. I cut and pasted the digital pictures into a Word document and put small captions under each one describing who was in the picture and when it was taken. I made sure the dates coincided with the dates stamped in my passport. The pictures didn't have any timestamps on them. I arranged them 4 to a page or so, depending on what looked ok and printed them out on a color copy machine on plain white paper. Then I just added those pages to my submission.

    Seemed to be ok.

  7. When I called the automated system they said they didn't have my case even though I'd received a letter dated August 3rd stating they had so I called back and tried to talk to an operator. After a short wait of being transferred back and forth, I got a message stating all operators were busy and try calling back after 6 PM local time. I'm not real patient so I called back in about 3 minutes and I spoke to an operator after holding for maybe 2 minutes....was really fast.

He told me that they received my 129-F on July 31st and DHL'd it off to the embassy in Kuala Lumpur on August 2nd. He said the package has to go through customs so give it another week or two....so I'll probably have my fiancee call on it tomorrow. :D

What I learned from my phone call was....for 129-F applications, don't use the automated system and if my case is standard, by the time you receive a letter from the NVC, your application is on it's way to the embassy. I haven't had any further touches since I got my NOA2 at USCIS as others have, btw.

  8. Thanks for all the good feelings. I'm still in a bit of a denial about it because I can't believe it. Since I got touched yesterday and it was the same old news I'd heard before I wasn't expecting anything to happen. I figured they just picked up my file to make way for more deserving ones. Then I checked this afternoon and they're telling me it was approved yesterday. Why did they have to delay it a day? Oh well, I'm surely not complaing now.

The great thing is I'm getting on a plane tonight for Kuala Lumpur to see my sweetie. I haven't seen her since Christmas because of some stupid medical thing that prevented me from flying. It will be a very sweet reunion.

    :D

  9. I'll join the euphoria!

    Receipt Number: WAC7777777777

Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

    Current Status:

This case has been approved. On July 25, 2006, an approval notice was mailed. If 30 days have passed and you have not received this notice, you may wish to verify or update your address. To update your address, please speak to an Immigration Information Officer during business hours.

For now my prayers can switch to those waiting longer than I have been. This was unexpected....but welcomed!

Now on to the next step.

  10. I was talking to my fiancee this evening as I always do and I was telling her about the approvals coming from CSC. I have a fairly recent NOA1 so I wasn't really planning on anything happening for awhile because of all the March and April people I would hope are ahead of me. I was touched today, but it was the same message I received back when the acknowledged my IMBRA RFE.

    Anyways........

We were talking and she asked me if I thought that our application may come under greater scrutiny because her mother's visa was revoked upon arrival at LAX since she listed her parent's names on her G-325A forms. I'm not 100% sure of the reasons it was revoked but I know a few things. This occurred a week or so after 9/11 and she was flying from Malaysia (a mostly Muslim country) to Los Angeles. She was questioned by Immigration and being the person that she is, probably got a bit indignant at the questioning. She thinks of herself as a very refined Chinese lady and she speaks "proper" English, etc. They kept her for two days in an office with less than nice accomodations, revoked her visa and sent her home. I'm sure she was not treated well, but I can sympathize with the Immigration officials after what had just happened in New York.

    So....

My question is....any thoughts on whether her actions will have an effect on our application? If so, where in the process would the delay occur? If I get the NOA2, are we clear?

Thanks so much for your thoughts!

  11. I don't know much about this, but there was a thread earlier that talked about T27 countries....here's the link.

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;#entry107405

The link in the last posting in this thread doesn't work for me so I can't see the original article. It worked several months ago when I first looked at it and yes, it was a very long article and most of it didn't pertain to what I was looking for. I really don't remember anything from the article....sorry.

Malaysia was listed....I assume because it's a Muslim country. I'm not far enough along in my journey to see if it might affect us. My fiancee is Chinese and a Christian, but who knows what will happen.

    Best of luck!

  12. CSC is processing FEB 15 receipt date now. They should be updating that soon. Your receipt date is May 1. That puts you about some days away from the processing starting on your case. I have a June receipt date! You can only wait. Like most of us posting here, I wish we had been processed by the Vermont Service Center!

I think you should have received it by now since you, like me, didn't submit the IMBRA compliant 129F. My NOA1 is after yours and I received my IMBRA RFE over a week ago as others have. I haven't called in to check on anything because I figure I'm in the "wait" mode since there are many people ahead of me, but if I were you, I would check to see where my IMBRA RFE is.

    Best of luck!

  13. I don't check my USCIS account every day....some days I don't have access to the internet and other days I just don't bother to check. In reading some other postings, I noticed that some people were touched twice - on both 3 July and 4 July so I checked mine today and sure enough, my "Last Updated" date had changed to 07/04/2006. Is there any way to find out if I was touched on the 3rd as well? Not that it really matters to my case but I would just like to know. I'm wondering if I was touched on the 3rd and just don't know about it.

Is there any way of seeing the "touch history" on the USCIS website? I didn't print out what it said on my earlier touch (my initial one) so now I don't know exactly what it said. Should I print out the page when it says I've been touched so I don't lose it when the next touch comes? Is there any way of saving it on the USCIS website?

    Thanks for your help!

  14. hi loon,

i too was happy when i received my IMBRA RFE yesterday! let's get this process moooooooving.

i checked the "no" box on question #1 and left the boxes completely empty on questions 2 & 3. i then filled out the information at the bottom of the question sheet and sent it back in along with the blue notice sheet.

that's all i sent back in...the blue notice sheet and the white question sheet filled out as above.

    best of luck to all.

i'm curious how long it will take now before NOA2s start coming out.

    :-)

  15. What do we have to send to CSC? Criminal Background Ckecks or National Criminal records and the form?

You send back the RFE form that they sent to you - nothing more.

As I understand it (but I ain't no expert), the RFE form that you send back includes the blue notice form and the white question form. The other paper that was included in the RFE is information only with no place for input of any information at all.

The blue Notice of Action form has all your pertinent information and says in bold caps to return this notice on TOP of the requested information listed on the attached sheet....so I plan on returning just the blue form and the question sheet with a "no" on question 1, questions 2&3 blank and my signature and other requested personal information at the bottom.

Since my NOA1 is rather recent...it will probably just go to the bottom of the heap....but as least I'm glad something happened. :-)

My guess is that since it's only original CSC filers that have received the form in the mail and appears to have no relation to the NOA1 date (take mine for example), that they did a mass computer printout and mailing to everyone that needed this RFE and they were all mailed out yesterday. Since I live in Southern California, I received mine quickly. It will take the mail a bit longer to get to those that filed in Nebraska or Texas.

I can at least be hopeful for those of you that live further away.

  16. Gomez,

Welcome to VJ. I'm relatively new here too and there's so much to read.

It took 3 weeks from me putting my application in the mail until I received the NOA1, so hopefully yours will come any day now.

Did you send it in with some type of tracking so you can see if it was delivered? Hopefully you did so you at least know they received it.

    Best of luck...and patience!

    pg

  17. Hi Inspired...

If yours follows the same timeline as mine, I think you have a few more days to wait. I just filed mine with the CSC very recently so it might give some insight to you. It took 12 working days from delivery to when I received my NOA1 in the mail...which would make yours June 6th if I counted the days correctly. See my sig below for the dates.

This has just started and already I'm getting impatient. Anyone have a time machine or something?

    Good luck!
