  1. I am a  bit concerned as USCIS mailed a biometrics notice for citizenship to our old out of state address (which was eventually rerouted by the post office to our new address).  The rerouting took extra time and our appointment date (in our old state) was only two days after receipt.  Obviously we could not make this appointment.  So I priority mailed a reschedule request , along with a USCIS confirmation of the change of address and a letter explaining our move.  Still not have heard anything as yet.  Do they take awhile for the new office to respond?

I believe you will have to wait 3 months after moving to your new address. If you were staying in the same city/town, then yes you could still file. However, since you're moving to a whole new USCIS jurisdiction, you need to apply under that new address. That's my understanding, at least. Perhaps I'm mistaken but I'm pretty sure you can't file with your old address since it's a USCIS rule to announce address changes ASAP as well.

Also, there's no point in filing, waiting and then finding out that your N400 has been denied due to the address issue. That's just a waste of time and money since they won't refund the application fee. Might as well do the safer route, which is to move to the new address and then file from there 3 months later.

I would agree.  However we will be moving to our new address only after we file our N400.  So basically we will be filing our N400 online while still living at our current address and then moving to our new address a few days thereafter.  Not sure why the N400 would be denied.  I have heard that it takes time to transfer the case to the new jurisdiction (might be faster with online filing).  In that case it worth filing at our current location or moving to the new address a file after 3 months.

  3. They mailed to me last Wednesday and i received it this Wednesday. You might get it on Friday.

You are right. We received it today.

    Happy Friday :)

Hey guys! Finally, USPS delivered the Green Card today :)

Thank you all for supporting me and keeping me engaged in reading a mix bag of comments (nice, harsh, etc..).

VisaJourney made our lives really convenient and thank you all for being so helpful.

See you again in 2 years!

  4. Ok so our AOS was approved on Monday September 12th and our green card was mailed out on September 16th. We have yet to receive our green card so we called USCIS twice. The first time we called and the lady said she did not have our tracking information and referred to to an immigration officer for an appraisal (the system said the wait time was 102 minutes and promised a call back which 3 hours later we have not gotten). We have called again and the guy flat out said he could not provide us a tracking number and to call back after 60 days if you do not receive your green card.

This is very frustrating why are they so obstinate about a simple USPS tracking number?

  5. what did your online status showed before you got RFE? My AOS receipt date is March 26 and i also did not submit my '15 tax returns. My online status says "As of May 11, 2016, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status"

It did not say anything different from the last few months. Just that your application was received.

  6. I am not sure about the turn around time, but the reason they might have requested your 2015 taxes is to see if you:

    a) Ended up filing it

    b) Filed it jointly (with your spouse)

    c) To verify your income for 2015

    c) or just because they can...

Your 2014 taxes, were they filed jointly?

    Hang in there :)

We were married earlier this year so I was a single filer for both 2014 and 2015.

  7. Our case has pending for awhile (our NOA was Mid March). We received an RFE asking for evidence that I paid taxes for the 2015 tax year even though I already provided my taxes from 2014 (my 2015 taxes were not completed by our NOA date).

Why did we receive a RFE for stuff we could not possibly have at the time of our AOS filing?

I also just responded to the RFE with my IRS Account and Tax Return Transcripts. How quick will they process and dispose of our application?

    Thanks

  8. Just came back from vacation and found an RFE in mailbox. The RFE is asking for evidence that I paid federal income taxes for year 2015.

Strange thing is we submitted AOS in March and received NOA on March 16, 2016, therefore, I ended up submitting evidence for income tax for year 2014 (because I filed 2015 tax in end of March 2016).

It seems USCIS is testing my patience.

It would be great help if somebody can guide me on how to response to RFE.

Do I need to send a cover letter or just the copy of RFE notification and evidence for income tax for year 2015?

    Thanks!
