  1. So, as awkward as it is I had my card on me on the bus. My wallet disappeared, and my green card with it. Humiliated for my naivety I paid for the replacement and went for the new biometrics and everything.

The main problem is: my working permit expires in 2 weeks, and HR communicated me that if I am not able to present elegible documents I will be fired.

In dismay I called USCIS and a very rude lady told me that it will take AT LEAST one year to receive a new copy. In front of my panicking she told me to get papers from my workplace to try to expedite the process - but she doubts it is going to make any difference she mumbled.

I don't want to lose my job, I don't know what to do. I never had the time to renew my social security card, and it still says I need a DHS.

  2. So, it has been forever, and I find myself very stressed about it, so I need to share this with you and maybe get my spirit quieted a little.

I submitted my I-485 in June, got an appointment for fingerprints and etc. In August we got an RFE because apparently there weren't enough tax returns in the package, so we just sent all the possible tax return available to us.

Since then, silence, I called, mailed. nothing. The website reports:

On August 23, 2016, we received your response to our Request for Evidence for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSC1691218411. Our National Benefits Center office will begin working on your case again. We will mail you a decision or notify you if we need something from you.

It has been a very long time, and I am just getting overly anxious, because it's now 7 months we have been waiting >:

    Any good word?

  3. Hiya there! Another Italian here :D

We just got the approval and waiting for the NOA2. Although: before even starting this whole process, and expecting it to take forever I got my tickets to visit the US for 80 days. It's going to be messy, given everything is going THIS FAST, but I spoke with Naples and they told me everything should be fine (I'll be back on the beginning of February, eventually try to get home earlier if the situation gets awkward).
I'm just a little scared of deadlines, but it should be in 4 months time, and I'll be back in less than 3.

Anyhow, how was the interview?! I'm a little scared of it cause I'm so goofy I could easily given wrong answers to silly questions (like: what's your fiance's father name, lol).

  4. I think any ramifications coming from the Paris travesty is the limiting of refugees that enter the U.S. On an annual basis. ISIS stated that they Succesfully got 4000 jihadists masked as refugees into Europe. Visas for finances/ spouses are much different then refugees or migrants trying to flee their country for safety. There may be some backlash, possibly slowing, but nothing very significant (in my humble opinion). Maybe that's just me being optimistic. I just think the issue is mainly now refugees , especially migrants from countries that have been linked to jihadists (not being racist or prejudice but that is the frame of the issue gov is looking at it now.)

    Best to all

My two cents are: I am an Italian citizen, which might be seen as strictly linked to this very French mess; I haven't received my NOA2 yet, and it might be slowed. On top of this whole thing: being a pending K1 might look suspicious for a 80 days visit. I have my flight next Monday! I don't know what kind of proofs I could bring along to prove my intentions to come back to "messed-up Europe" without trying to sneak a marriage. I don't own anything apart my bank account and some already scheduled medical check-ups already planned.

  5. Hello there!
I've been reading along the forum for a while; but now I'm kinda panicking and I decided to register and ask myself to ease my spirit.

We sent our I-129 in the beginning of October, and received the NOA1 on October 13th.

The fact is: before starting this whole thing we already decided I was going to visit him for about 80 days (November 23rd to February 10th) - fortune or misfortune of unemployment, got a lot of free time. I therefore bought the ticket and everything, "reassured" by reading it would have taken months and months. The fact is: our case ended up in California, and everything seems it could be REALLY REALLY FAST. What if I'm still in the US when we get at the point I should get my interview? What should I do?
I'm really puzzled and tendentially scared.

Moreover: I didn't think I could not be accepted in because of the K1 going on; will they check at the airport? Should I not mention I'm in a pending K1?
I mean, I need to see my important one; I've been looking forward to this way before we decided to proceed.
Maybe I'm just overworrying, any word of wisdom?
