Green Card interview was today... We had alllll the documentation they had asked for and a ton of photos from throughout the year. We had also spent a little time making sure our memories and dates etc. were well matched and that we had the names of our families clear in our heads etc etc. A few days of work to get all that sorted. And as it turned out it wasn't needed in our case...
Green Card interview took about 10 minutes. Lovely guy. Just swore us in. Checked our details. Asked if we had jobs and what they were. Took a quick look at three statements (water, gas, bank) and handed them straight back. Asked the usual stuff about being arrested, smuggling etc. Told us the K1 was the real hurdle and that he was just here to spot anything weird and we were quite obviously genuine and not terrorists. Signed the form. Green Card done. Much grinning followed. And a fabulous Facebook selfie and check-in. Then all you can eat sushi. Job done.
21 months until we do the removal of conditions. And another 9 months later to start citizenship.
Best of luck and love to you all.
Congratulations!!!

Just act normal, if you are a real couple then it will show. Make sure you know your spouse's full name and birthday, the IO asks about that haha.
Just like what the others said, the officer mostly only asks the YES/NO questions on your I-485. Ours also checked the medical report thoroughly.

Which FB group do you follow? I haven't been able to find may CA March filers and I am trying to find people who are near me.
Hello,
Hubby filed March 11, he was interviewed Sept 28 and got his GC after a week. We were able to travel out of the country already. We were interviewed in the Santa Ana office.
-
Update:
Our interview was today, approved on the spot!
Office: Santa Ana, CA
appointment was at noon. we arrived at 11.30 - they finally called us about 12.45
interview was about 1 hour long
mostly i-485 questions
no weird-"what brand of shampoo does she use"-questions, everything straight forward
We are traveling this weekend so i asked for the passport stamp once the officer said we were approved
Showed proof of travel arrangement and purpose and got a referral letter to take to the info pass office for same day appointment to get the stamp
waited to be called for another 20 mins, dropped documents, waited 20 mins, got stamp
Entire process took us like 4 hours and we were starving!
Went to celebratory Venezuelan lunch right after.
Good luck to everyone!
Congrats! we also had our interview and approval, same SA office last Wednesday. Our GC is set to arrive today, per USPS tracking. It takes only about 8 days.

Infopass appointments in the Santa Ana office are available in about a week when you schedule, so if the LA office takes longer, you can probably go to Santa Ana.
-
Hello everyone!
Finally hubby got approved this morning!!
It was almost a 30 minute interview, questions mostly are from the I-485. No evidences were asked, only passports, I-94, marriage certificates and my naturalization certificate.
Thanks everyone for the support, and thanks to visa journey - this site saved us a lot of time, energy and money.
Good luck to eveyone still waiting for their approval.
-
Finally approved!!!
Congrats!. our interview is next week.
What were the questions asked?

Anyone else in Orange County, California ? Haven't heard anything since fingerprints...
Same field office. We got our interview notice thru text/email last Aug 23 and interview is on Sept 28. You will most likely get yours really soon, since we filed also about the same date as you, or if your adjusting thru K-1, you probably will just receive your GC automatically just like most here.
-
Our field office is in Santa Ana, CA , and the website says it is processing I-485s as of Nov 17, 2015.
We filed early March this year and our interview has already been set for September 28. So the processing times are not always on point.

Hubby got woken up by a text message this morning at 4:30 am, that there's a change in his case status. His interview is scheduled Sept 28. Funny thing is, we made an infopass appointment and the schedule was also this morning at 7:40 am. We were gonna ask if his interview will be scheduled soon because we have booked a trip to MNL end of September. The interview fell into our scheduled vacation.
Immigration officer told us we can reschedule the interview and that we can make a letter right there and give it to her or we can mail one. We also asked her if there will be a problem going back if he will use AP and she said no, there won't be.
But we decided to just push through with the scheduled interview and push back our vacation. Of course, we have to pay an exorbitant amount of fee to reschedule the flights, but thats ok, as long as he's going to have his GC when we go for that vacation and not just his combo card.
-
My GC interview was today at 1pm. And i got approved yayyyyy ? will post a detail review later.
Congrats!!
Look like Chicago field office is moving faster than most.

Super helpful thank you so much! It says 3-5 currently.
I don't know about anyone else, but I found the employees at my SSA office to be completely useless. I was told that there is currently a problem with immigration and they're taking a really long time to verify documents (especially work permits) and that it can take 4-8 weeks. I nearly had a meltdown as I have a job lined up to start on the 5th July with my old company. I know they can push back the start date 1-2 weeks if I need it, but 1-2 months is too much so I'm hoping she just didn't know what she was talking about as after I told her about my start date of 5th July she said, oh you'll probably get it before then, you have a work permit you should get it faster than anyone else
...she was also on Instagram on her phone the entire time I was being served so...
Totally different experience when I accompanied hubby to have his SS card replaced. He just showed his EAD card, the person assisting him was so accommodating. We were there no more than 15 minutes. 5 mins after he arrived, his number was called. The Garden Grove office was so efficient, hubby made it a point to thank them for their fast and efficient service..
-
2 minutes after posting this... It arrived, woo hoo!! Social Security office tomorrow so.
March 17th apply
May 11th EAD/AP approval (AOS ready to be scheduled for interview)
June 9th card was mailed to you
June 13th Combo card arrived.
Congrats!!
-
My EAD was updated to mailed on Thursday too, it still hasn't arrived. I'm waiting on a call back from a tier 2 to get the tracking number. I was so hopefully it would arrive today, ha! That'll teach me to get my hopes up.
Try signing up to USPS. You will be able to track down if any parcels are being delivered to you. It is very detailed and will give you specific updates on the whereabouts of your parcel.
If indeed it was mailed, it will show up on the tracking based on your address.
-
Ok thanks. Are they acurate? It says for my location they are in october but they have not updated since March 31?
Well, i guess there's no such thing as accurate if we're talking abt USCIS hehe, but it's just a guideline. I think you should check filers from Phoenix, AZ as well, that could probably give you a much better gauge on how fast your field office is as regards to the I-485 processing.
-
Yes I received mine last week. How do you find out what month they are processing?
When you're on the case status online page, below you'll see Related Tools, under will be USCIS processing Times Information. then just choose your corresponding field office.
-
Congratulations to everyone receiving updates!!! Has any one that filed early March received interview notices, I'm still waiting impatiently.....
Hubby just received his EAD but no interview notices yet, not even in line for interview. Our service center is processing September 2015 applications.
How's your application going? Have you received your Ead?
-
at long last, hubby received his EAD/AP card! He wants to buy plane tickets asap to our country, I'm kinda worried tho' and I want him to wait for the GC. He said why worry? Why apply for AP if he's not gonna use it?
Anyways, ironically another letter was received stating that USCIS recvd a request from a rep to look into the case and that it is under review. Haha, so late! We got the physical card now!
Good luck to those who are still waiting for their cards!
-
Alright, my EAD card arrived today! We're so happy
I can start my new job on Monday!
Next step is the actual green card.
Good luck everyone..
Congrats! ours is tracking to be delivered tomorrow!
Wish we could just intercept the parcel right now because we know it's location and that post office is just 10 minutes away...
-
after 15 years of wishing to have any type of legal form of employment, the wait is over .... i received my EAD today i cried like a little hungry baby... This is nuts.
6/9/16 EAD received.
Congratulations! hubby cried too when he actually saw the update that his card is being mailed. We actually cried together
Like you, he also longed for that for years. He also hasn't been home for so long he missed lots of things, like his baby sister growing up, His father's, nephew's and older sister's wake. He sacrificed a lot for his dreams. Now we're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and I am so happy for him.
Now I need another tissue....

Received a text from USPS. Then we checked MyUSPS and it showed that a parcel from USCIS is being shipped to us from Corbin, Kentucky. It is a preshipment which basically means a shipping label was created. So most likely we will receive it on Saturday.
-
Got a text from USPS confirming if I will allow text updates. Then I checked MyUSPS, and there is a tracking number, a parcel from USCIS is coming from Kentucky.
-
We got the notice on Tuesday the 7th that they had been mailed. And Wednesday night I got the tracking information from USPS so I reckon it takes about 24 hours to show up.
Oh great, so it took about 2 days for usps to give you notice, ours got mailed yestersday so probably we will have our tracking number tomorrow. We also signed up to usps last week.
Happy to know that most of the last week April EAD approvals that got messed up are finally taken care of by USCIS!!
