GREEN CARDS ARRIVE!!! 02/29/08.

GREEN CARDS ARRIVED IN THE MAIL YESTERDAY FOR CHUCK AND ZHANGBEI AND ONE2ZEE(XUERU)

WE MOVED AND CHANGED OUR ADDRESS IN DECEMBER. USCIS SENT A LETTER ACKNOWLEDGING THE CHANGE OF ADDRESS.........AND GUESS WHAT? THEY STILL SENT THE GREEN CARDS TO OUR OLD ADDRESS. LUCKILY THE POST OFFICE FORWARDED TO OUR NEW ADDRESS!

ANYWAY.......THIS CHAPTER IS OVER.......AT LEAST FOR ANOTHER 2 YEARS. MAYBE BY THEN THEY WILL HAVE OUR ADDRESS CORRECTED.........BUT THEN AGAIN MAYBE NOT. LOL

We received notice of AOS approval yesterday ( Feb. 13 ) and today received another online update that included this: Your new permanent resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later.

Can anyone tell me what the ADIT processing is about?

Looks like we are among the few transferred to CSC who are still waiting. (Chuck and ZhangBei and one2zee XueRu). Thought getting transferred would be a shoe in for a quick approval.......but waiting since the transfer in July........and last touch on August 28. I called the info line last week.....but the say they can't give any information until at least 6 months have passed.

My K-1 Wife and K-2 Daughter and I are about to move. Our AOS case has been at CSC since last July and last online update was on Aug. 28........so sort of on hold......don't know why.

I would like some input from people who have changed address by filing the AR 11 online and also by phone and/or submitting the form by snail mail. What works best?

I also need some help with a couple of questions on the form.

1. I am in the U.S. as?

Should this be answered as K-1?

2. If not a Permanent Resident, my stay in the U.S. expires on?

As a K-1 waiting for AOS........what would be the correct answer on this one? It requires a mm/dd/yy format. Would this be the expiration date on the I-94? If not then what would the answer be based on?

so frustrating!! I sent my RFE and got a delivery confirmation from the post office on July 27th but since then nothing, no changes, transfer notices, or any touches on my AOS petition, and my case number for EAD hasn't even been entered yet so I can't check the status online!!!

I called USCIS and a very nice, but useless, lady told me they have a backlog on updating the case status section and i should just keep checking, but I think if they provide that option as part of their customer service, we should be allowed to demand that our cases are in and updated, instead of just hoping they are.

I have a super cool job lined up and my prospective employer waiting, and it kills me not even being able to check how things are going!! sorry, i had to vent. aaahgggh

This may give you a little insight as to what's going on with the USCIS and receipt notices. As predicted they were flooded with applications near the fee change deadline on July 30.

This comes as no surprise, as it is most likely related to the July 2007 Visa Bulletin filings. The volume of cases has created a "front log" of cases awaiting initial data entry and issuance of receipt notices. The USCIS advises that the receipt notice delays will not impact eligibility for change of status or extension of status. Cases will be treated as received on their actual receipt dates, even if the receipt notice is delayed. The actual date that the filing was received at the USCIS (receipt date) will appear on the I-797 receipt notice, in addition to a later issuance of the receipt notice (notice date).

Our Case was transferred to CSC on July 26 and I received a letter at the Status Online site and email about this with a follow up letter in the U.S. Mail. We had touches on 7/31-8/1 and 8/2 and I didn't see any change in the letter online and have not since received any other letters in the mail from USCIS.

I checked the Status Online site tonight and found a new letter........but no new touches since 8/2. It says that the Case has been transferred to a USCIS Office for STANDARD PROCESSING and they will let us know when a decision has been made.......etc. etc. but it does not state the office location.

Should I assume that it is still at CSC or has it been transferred to a Local Office? I'm not sure what to make of it.

Can they tell me if I call the Customer Service number?

I checked our application's status online and it showed that our AOS was touched again on 7/31..however, still no touches/updates on our EAD ..last touched was back in 6/29.. Is it normal to have a case like ours? Do they process EAD applications at the benefits center in MO or do they send it to the local district office? (It'll be Fairfax,VA for our case) I know very well that our applications are within USCIS "normal processing times" but I can't help to ask especially when I leave my husband by himself at our place everyday that I go to work. I know he's bored to death by now and it makes me sad too...I really wish there's something I can do to speed up his AOS or even at least his EAD process.

The EAD's are held and processed at the MSC. I wouldn't worry about it yet. Normal processing time for the EAD is 60 to 90 days and from what I've seen on the VJ site most are completed within this time frame.

Our time line is close to the same as yours and our EAD has only been touched once since submitted.

Our AOS was also sent to CSC and has been touched 4 times........three days in a row. 7/31- 8/1 and 8/2 since it arrived there. Hopefully we will both get the Green Card before the EAD is approved. Wouldn't that be nice?

I would keep the original and send a copy........especially if it says to "send a copy". That way if they loose it or if problems you ALWAYS have the original and can prove it without a doubt.

They should have their copy of the document already attached to your file anyway.

Is the application process the same? Are the application forms the same? Do we send in AP, EAD and the AOS forms together if we send in the $1010 check?

The application process is the same.

The application forms should be the same except where they list the fees to submit. Go to www.uscis.gov to get the most recent forms. They probably have some updated ones there.

You can send all of the forms together with a single check made out to Dept. of Homeland Security.

I mailed off my package for adjustment of status on friday July 27th. I'm hoping as long as it is stamped with that date on my package at the post office. That I still apply to the old price fees? anyone? Thanks Dean

The new fees apply to anything postmarked on or after July 30, 2007. You should be o.k. and the old fees should apply.

Hi everybody my husband and I wnet to the driver license place and ask for a driver licene for me, theys ay they cant give a driver license bc my visa is fixing to expire, so we told them that we read at the website from louisiana driver license that people holding a fiancee once they marry a US citizen they just have to bring the marriage certificate, passport and I797 and they can give us a license, well that lady not nice, grumpy, say she cant, somebody who lives at Louisiana get theyre license before they approve the adjustment of status paper work, bc is complety stupid they are fixing to give us the employment authorization at the end of September and tehy cant give me a driver lice3nse till tehy approve the adjustment of status, so how I suppose to go work? walking??? well if somebody have the smae prolem i really apreciatte urs experiecne with us. well have to go,

I live in Louisiana and my wife was issued a LA State ID Card which has the same requirements as the drivers license. She is studying to take the written test now.

My wife entered U.S. as a K-1. The rules may be different for other Visa holders so depending on what yours is it could be different.......but seems like you are probably K-1 too.

This is what my local DMV office required us to bring in and they stated that the same would be needed for the test:

1. Passport with U.S. Visa and I-94

2. Social Security Card

3. Marriage License

4. I-797 Notice of Action

Once I had all of this there was not problem getting the I.D. card.

BTW.. If your spouse has a valid D.L. from another country they will not have to take the 6 hour pre-licensing class as required for new D.L.

If I were you I would call the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles and make them clarify this if need be to your local office or go to your local office and make them look up the code and show it to you. I made them do this for me. They printed it out from the State Website.

The State DMV number is 877 368 5463.

They(State DMV) can connect you to your local office by phone. This is the only way you can get to the local office by phone as the # is not published or given out.

More than likely as long as they have all the info they need you'll get approved without interview. If there is a red flag in your file, whatever those may be, it will be transferred to your local office. BUT, you will probably receive the GC with no interview.

We we are at CSC and no interview Just waiting for the GC in the mail now!

Is this the standard letter that everyone else has been getting for a transfer of their case to CSC for processing? Some say that its not a sure thing that you will receive the Green Card without an interview if this happens.........but the letter sure gives the impression that it will process the case to the end here. Our case was transferred yesterday.

i.e. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or the office need something from you.

The key word being decision here. I know nothing is for sure with USCIS.

Went to New Orleans Office this morning ( 7/26 ) for Biometrics for ZhangBei and XueRu. It went great. The appointment was for 9:00 a.m. We got there about 8:30 and filled out the paperwork sign in stuff and were called up early. Were in the car and headed for home before 9:00.

I just checked our Online Status Report a few minutes ago and found this update:

On July 26, 2007, we transferred this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR ADJUST STATUS to our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action.

This is for both of the AOS's .....ZhangBei (wife) and XueRu. (daughter)

I just checked my local office and it seems they're working on cases from September 2006. We're in it for the long haul baby!

My local office is New Orleans and they are currently processing May 2006. Looks like we will be waiting with you unless we get lucky and get sent to CSC.

I am trying to set up the email notification for Luz and Robins AOS. But it seems they are not in the automated system yet because when I put the case numbers from the NOA1 in it says that the case cannot be found. How long does it usually take to get in the system? The receipt date is June 24 and the NOA1 date is July 2.

Join the club! A lot of us are having that problem. Others keep saying it takes several days for the numbers to show up on the system. Hope we can successfully register the numbers soon. Until then, all we can do is keep trying to register them every day.
