  1. Hi there Ladies, this is Sherwin, Bernie's wife. I've been reading VJ since forever although its my husband thats really active here coz way back in the Phils im a working lady with grave yard shift (anyways enuf of hat coz im here in the US too). Well, i can relate to everybody here about being home sick. Been here in the US for more than 3 months now and i cant count how many times i cried when we are driving seeing their hi-ways & traffic here. REminding express way in laguna, makati traffic. I never felt the homesick thingy when im in FLorida for the first 2-3 weeks before we start driving coz Bernie's parents and so as Bernie are so supportive and caring. But when we start driving already that when the homesickness start. Seeing those tall building - i remember my work place (MAKATI). the traffic. when we stop i remember i can go to my sisters house to hug my nephew and nieces ( all those stuff)

i cnt say that i totally adjusted here but what im doing is im making myself busy. cant get TFC since we are always in the truck so all i can watch are local channels but what i do is i view my friendster accoun., watch filipino videos on youtube.com ( they post filipino movies & shows there too). Since i like travelling as well adn photography, Bernie got me a new camera that im using while we are travelling. Im takings pics of almost all new places that we've been. The welcome signs (am i pathetic or what?) and right now im doing some self study about web page design so i can gain more knowledge and im creating websites so i can post my road trips and my photographs. It still inder construction right now but in a few weeks im also adding page on the site where you can post your philippine experiences (all about the philippines that you miss) feel free to explore te site and check it out .... WWW.TRIP2PHILIPPINES.COM

Good luck and God bless to everybody!

    Hello again everyone!

Just arrived from back-to-back trips here. A few days after Vegas, we had to fly to Boulder, Colorado for business. It was not a honeymoon trip plus my son was travelling with us so no hanky-panky for us  . Dusa si hotDoug ko hehe.

I haven't figured out how to post my wedding photos here so please bear with me. I'll figure it out when I find the time. Busy lang talaga. I will also start updating my long-neglected list.

Thanks for the update Mae. I can relate to the homesickness. I thought I was ok here, did not feel sad or homesick for maybe 2 weeks then all of a sudden, while driving along a highway here in WA, I saw what looked like South Expressway along Laguna and then I just started feeling homesick and then cried. Bigay kaagad ng tissue ang aking bf este asawa na pala. Haaay, Philippines, kahit magulo at mabaho, it's still home. Have a fun wedding day. Remember to always smile for the camera!

i am a truck driver and sherwin is with me in the truck now. we have been to almost all of the continental states so far, except MN, ND, SD, NE, IA, WY, ID, WA, OR, VT, and RI. and i guess we did all the paperwork right bcz we did have to go to canada 2 times already and had no problem with immigration either time.

Thank you for the update, Bernie. I see lots of those gleaming big trucks here in WA. Gee, how do you keep them so clean after those long trips? What a fun job! Criss-crossing coast-to-coast! But it must be painful for the bum-bum ;)

Which hotel that you can recommend me and how long did you get your marriage license? Did you have to make appointments or reservations first...ohhh sooo much questions, sowee. Huhuhu i think we can't make it before July 30, "sayang" hehehe. But we'll still try.

There are many great but reasonable hotels to choose from in Vegas. Depends on how much you want to spend and your taste. You may want to go to www.expedia.com to check them out.

Regarding the marriage license, just show up at the marriage bureau, no appointments required. You can get it in less than 30 minutes at:

    Marriage Bureau

    201 Clark Avenue

    Las Vegas, Nevada 89155-1603

    (702) 671-0600

    Open daily 8am-12midnight including holidays

    Fee: $55

  3. Hi M&M, how u guys doing? nice to c u here. we r doing great, so wonderful to be together with no red tape separating us and our loved ones any longer, db? anyway, saw ur post, thought i'd add this. we opened a citibank account online, then we transfer from our other account at another bank into the citibank account fee free. then there are a few citibank atm's in the philippines now, 1 in makati and a few others around manila where the money can be withdrawn fee free, and the exchange rate is very competitive, usually within 1/2 peso of the actual rate. cheers 2 the 2 of u!

  4. Hi guys and gals,

Just popping in to report that we just got back from Vegas for our wedding. We got hitched on 7-07-07 (ang baduy ano?). Will post pics later. Been busy lately with more paperwork  Wala ba talagang katapusan ito?

My left arm is sore from the Td shot so bye-bye muna. I need to rest.

    PW

hi PW, congrats to you and your Hubby! i know everybody here @ vj philippines thread is so very happy for the 2 of u! congrats again! bernie & sherwin

  5. hello all fellow philippine vj'ers! well, sherwin and i arrived in the states march 28, POE guam. and we have been very busy since! but we have been reading this forum from time to time trying to keep up. PW, welcome!! to all those approved, congrats! to all those with upcoming interviews, best of luck!

well, a bit about our arrival in the USA. as i said, POE was Guam, very uneventful, didn't take too long. sherwin carried her x-ray but it was not asked for. our next stop was honolulu, and as we were going from gate to gate we had to go thru security again. well, after we got thru the screening area i set her x-ray on the floor leaning against the chair so i could put my shoes back on.....and left it there. we were already boarded and doors were closing when i remembered it...too late! so we thought, oh well, gone for good, but no big deal, it wasn't really needed anymore after that point. after we were home about 1 week a big envelope arrives for sherwin from hawaii office of US health dept. it was her X-ray! and postage paid too! we were amazed, and pleased that somebody took the time to mail it to us.

one thing that didn't go as planned...when we filled out the ds-230 sherwin checked the block to apply for SSN at the same time. but it never arrived so we had to go to the local SSA office and apply for it. once we did she had her SSN in abt 4 days.

i am a truck driver and sherwin is with me in the truck now. we have been to almost all of the continental states so far, except MN, ND, SD, NE, IA, WY, ID, WA, OR, VT, and RI. and i guess we did all the paperwork right bcz we did have to go to canada 2 times already and had no problem with immigration either time.

anyway, just wanted to give a quick update and to let you all know we do still check in here from time to time.

P.S. to the person that asked about getting Phil mangos in the US, if you find any, PLEASE let us know!

thx, God Bless and take care, Bernie and Sherwin

  6. Hello Guys,

After 5 weeks on AR, finally I got my visa!:dance::dance:

It was released on May 2, got it after 2 days here at San Juan. But I still have a problem, they mispell one on my middle name so I still need to go back to USE for them to reprint it, I hope they won't hold it anymore...

PW, you can update your list. Thank you for being so optimistic and encouraging to VJers. =)

You know this journey really test my patient. I went to both K3 and CR1 interview, both of them went smoothly the CO told me "I will approved your case" then on the releasing window gave me a pink slip so I guess I'm not on AR right? but then after 2 weeks of waiting for my visa, no delivery yet. Then now after 5 weeks on AR I got back my passport with the visa on it. Yehey!!

Good luck to all who will have their upcoming interviews. And who are on AR pray harder that God will guide the people who are working on your case. And may He help us speed the releasing of the visa.

    -

    Kim

 CONGRATULATIONS Kim Tung! Wishing u a blissful marriage life in the US! God Bless!

  7. If PW is not approved today  , I might be forced to fly to the Phil and run naked around the USE in protest. I can see the news headlines reading, "Black man runs naked around the USE in protest of injustice!":P:no::lol:

:crying: :crying: :crying: WAAAHHHHH!!! HUHUHU!!!   Sheriff, you’d better get a seat on the next plane to Manila because you’re gonna run naked in front of the USE.

Just giving you a scare guys. Consul said “everything looks fine” so I guess I’m APPROVED! WOOHOOO! Thank you all for your prayers and support.

My son and I arrived at the embassy at 7:15 am for the 7:30 interview. By the time I was interviewed by the consul, it was already 2:00 pm! So many people inside. We stepped out of embassy grounds at exactly 3:00 pm, arrived home at 4:45 pm. Reporting for duty now hehe.

My Filipino pre-screener was super duper friendly. Feeling ko nag-bonding kami (charing!). We made chika-ola for 30 minutes. ~ imagine, my pre-screening took all of 30 minutes! Tagal no? Sabi ko na nga ba, the embassy missed me kaya they wanted me back hehe.

On a serious note, please bring the pink receipt that BPI issues during your interview. The bank validation of my DS-157 lacked a “checkwriter” stamp and it caused me some delay. Good thing I brought my pink receipt so they just stapled it at the back of my DS-157. Please remind BPI to stamp the “checkwriter”.

Will update more later guys. I need to wake up my hotDoug (my fiance's name is Douglas and I call him hotDoug behind his back hihi)

    a very happy PW

  wooohooo!!!! congratulations PW!:dance::dance: we know u guys can make it. u deserve to be with he love of ur longer than this but.. as long as everything is good now! hope u guys will have a very blissful life together wherever u wanted to settle in. GOD BLESS !!! :innocent:

  8. I am also going through a difficult time right now. I was visiting with a childhood friend from the Phils. yesterday when I got the call that my mom was rushed to the hospital. After a couple of hours, got the most devastating news of all. My mom didn't make it. I am trying to make arrangements to go back to the Phils as soon as I can book a flight.

I do have some questions... I know I need to book the ticket in my maiden name as that's what's in my passport. But on the return trip, will I have a problem checking in (for the flight from the Philippines and clearing immigration here) with my passport and my greencard having different names?

Any info would be great (especially from the old timers here who still drop by every now and then). I'm sorry to dampen the happy atmosphere here but I didn't know which forum to post this.

We send our condolences to you. May God see you through this difficult time. God Bless, Bernie and Sherwin

  9. come on over to the manila embassy thread in the foreign embassy and consulate forum, you will find all the info you need, including a very informative printout from sillygirl regarding the medical at st lukes, it gives step by step instructions for it. good luck

  10. Hello Manila listers, will keep this short...I arrived in Manila to meet my beautiful asawa Milah Jean on March 25 and have had an INCREDIBLE experience here while she survived the CFO seminars followed by a very wonderful week with her family in Leyte province. At Manila today ready to head to America tomorrow. We can't wait to arrive and begin our new lives together. The day has finally come!!! Thanks all to the huge VJ family and to the Manila Embassy thread in particular. More later when we settle in. Good luck all!!!

    Michael and Milah Jean

    Bon Voyage!!!

  11. hey everybody! quick update, sherwin and i are in florida now!!! yehey!!!!:dance::dance: POE was guam, sherwin was told "welcome to america" then after a very long flight we arrived in tampa abt 2 pm on march 28. we took continental, after guam, stop in honolulu where u pass thru immigration again and then clear customs, which is very quick, we were only in honolulu abt 1.5 hours and had plenty of time to make connection. take care all, God bless, bernie and she

Hi Bernie, where did you do POE? Guam? Did they take the x-ray there?

yes, POE was guam, x-ray was not asked for at all, although we did hand carry it just in case.

  12. hey everybody! quick update, sherwin and i are in florida now!!! yehey!!!!:dance::dance: POE was guam, sherwin was told "welcome to america" then after a very long flight we arrived in tampa abt 2 pm on march 28. we took continental, after guam, stop in honolulu where u pass thru immigration again and then clear customs, which is very quick, we were only in honolulu abt 1.5 hours and had plenty of time to make connection. take care all, God bless, bernie and she

  13. Question! Is it normal for the Embassy to skip over visa processing? We had our interview on the 21st and I see everyone from the 22nd and 23rd are receiving their Visa or Visa in process for delivery. I called the Embassy and We are not process for delivery yet.

Is this normal and has anyone else exprienced this? :crying::no::o:angry:

yes, wife was told at interview she was approved, then others that had interview day after us received their visa before us. i think it just depends on the CO you get for the interview and how efficient they are moving paperwork off their desk, at least that's my theory. if you are still in the states and call the embassy at the number in sherriff ulings signature they can tell you what is the status of your case, at least they did with us. good luck!

  14. hello fellow philippine vj'ers! well, i am here in manila with sherwin, it is our last day here as we will be flying out this evening heading for tampa, fl. a very emotional and happy day! thank you all for the help and support along the way. good luck to all those with upcoming interviews and those waiting to be scheduled. having been through it now we can certainly empathize with all the emotions you experience during this visa journey. i would say that we were pleasantly surprised by how fast it went. we were prepared to go over 12 months in this process, but in the end it was all done in just about 9 months from time of 1st filing to delivery of the visa! it is so wonderful knowing this red tape is all behind us and we are free to pursue our lives together as husband and wife! tc all, God Bless! we are not disappearing, but we will be very busy when we arrive in the states, so we may not be able to check in here as often as we would like, so wanted to get this post in before we left manila. Regards, bernie and sherwin

  15. in the manila embassy thread in the foreign embassy forum there was recently a k-3 applicant who arrived at the embassy for her k-3 visa interview appt and she had a cr-1 interview scheduled already. she was allowed to go thru the whole k-3 interview process and at the end was told to just return on the date of her scheduled cr-1 interview date. they did not grant the k-3, but i think they told her everything was ok, but since her cr-1 was less than 1 month later to just return then and get the cr-1 visa. good luck!

  16. WE ARE OUT OF AR AND MY WIFE'S VISA HAS BEEN DELIVERED!!!

Delbros didn't even text us. March 21 was when the visa was issued and today March 23 at 2:20PM Delbros delivered the package. thanks for all the support and prayers.

i can go home with my wife and we can finally have a normal life together as husband and wife. oh happy day!

WOOT WOOT!!!:dance::dance: THAT IS FANTASTIC NEWS!! congrats congrats congrats!!!!

  17. hi PW, welcome black! (and blue!) LOL! could u update our timeline please? Sherwin receivd her visa March 20 in metro manila.

dims1. so sorry to hear of lorna's interview result, hope you can get it resolved in an expeditious manner.

take care, Godf Bless, bernie and sherwin

  18. hey fellow philippine vj'ers, i am off to the philippines tomorrow, my wife and i will then fly back here to tampa on march 27, before i go just want to say to all of you with upcoming interviews, best of luck, to all that are recieving your interview appointments now, congrats, to those of you in AR, may it end in approval very quickly, and God Bless all of you! probably won't be online much for the next few weeks, we will be busy, but we will think of you all. dims1, best of luck on ur wife's interview! take care all, bernie and she

  19. Well, our long journey is finally finished. I just got off the phone with my asawa after having been on pins and needles all night and day today. Her interview was yesterday at 6:30 am, and we have been having bad phone connection problems. Her text messages are not reaching me here. So anyway...her interview experience was very positive. She was out by 10:45 am. She was escorted inside at 6:30 am with the other CR-1 interviewees, then was finger scanned not long after, then waited for the pre-interview. Her pre-interview was completely painless - the standard questions we've all seen here. The screener took the cards and letters I had sent to her and then she sat down to wait for her interview. She was interviewed by a female consular officer and had a great time. Again, the questions were mostly repeat from the pre-interview. She said it was very easy. We had practiced drilling down most of the questions that are posted in the guides here. The officer asked to see some photographs, so Milah Jean held up her fat album jammed with 200 pics. The officer said to give her 5 pics, so she selected a nice assortment. One of the pics was from our wedding day when two doves were released. Both actually landed on the front of her dress!!! It was a fun pic with her very surprised look and me laughing. The officer laughed also, so it made her feel very good. She did not ask if she was approved, but was told to sit down and wait to be called again. After her number came up again, she received a pink slip and was told to pay DELBROS and to wait for delivery. She received a text message from DELBROS confirming her phone number later, so I guess she has signed up for the Hot Line now so she will receive text delivery updates. I also see her case number on the DELBROS website, so I can check progress during the next week. So, if all goes well, she'll receive that coveted visa before I depart for Manila on March 24 to be reunited.

I've got to say that our gracious God has blessed us with an unbelievable and incredible gift. We had a very unique set of circumstances that we prayed very hard that would somehow work out, in spite of very dismal odds. We chose to do the CR-1 process due to the fact that we'd not need to do the AOS needed with the K-3, but it depending completely on timing. The entire time we have been wading through this complex process, she had been finishing her college education. We learned in January that her graduation was scheduled for March 30, so what were the odds that I could travel here to attend her graduation, the first in her family, and ALSO somehow have that visa in hand during a very narrow two week travel window so I could be her escort to her new home in America?? Well, it happened...interview on March 15, I arrive March 25, graduation is March 30, departure day for her new home is April 5, also her birthday!! Yes, we don't have the visa yet, so it's not completely guaranteed, but we could have NEVER imagined that everything could have been so perfectly choreographed. Praise God!!

Again, best wishes to all who are nearing the end of their long journeys, especially Mike and Lorna up next on Monday, and to all who have just begun this arduous process. It's a test of strength and love and courage and it will cause you to weep with both joy and sadness and cringe with agony. But the reward...ecstacy!! The time actually flew by, and the hardship and great distance did indeed strengthen our relationship. We are so very anxious to celebrate our new lives!!! Wow, can it really be?? Indeed, it is real and it is now! Yippee!!!

    God Bless

    Michael and Milah Jean

Congratulations! welcome mike and milah jean to cloud 9!! oh what a feeling, db?!!!

  21. CONGRATS BERNIE AND SHERWIN!!!! Thanks also for the encouragement for our interview. We are having serious text messaging problems now. Since arriving in Manila on Tuesday her messages are not reaching me, but mine are reaching her. Don't know why. We spoke very late last night. She should be at the Bayview now. I'll give her a quick call from the office later today for a last second pep talk. Yep, this very agonizing wait is nearly over. By evening today she'll be in the hot seat, and I'll be at my church. I can only hope and pray for an approval for us. Tonite we'll know...wow...the big day has arrived.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and companionship...Michael and Milah Jean
