I was wondering if anyone in the Boston area with Vermont Service Center got an interview scheduled recently? Our status still says "As of March 11, your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview."

    The waiting is killing me!

We got scheduled a few weeks ago! Although I filed late January/early February (they didn't get it until Feb 4th, so). Our interview is on Thursday.

So.. does anyone know if it's okay to have an expired Passport for this? Because I was supposed to go visit family and renew my passport this year but then Covid happened. I probably should have mailed in for a new one earlier but got worried I wouldn't have it on me if they scheduled me earlier.

  2. It does still say that! I'm slightly paranoid about it, but I filled out the change of address three times (I was so so paranoid and we weren't getting confirmation in the mail). I ended up getting three letters all at once saying change of address confirmed. Whoops.

Take a deep breath and try not to worry too much! I'll start getting worried if it's summer and we still haven't heard anything.

  3. Take a moment to review the excellent pinned thread located at the top of this forum page, regarding your very frequently asked topic: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/551080-immunizations-ds-3025-or-i-693/

    HTH,

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Thank you! It was really a bit confusing and I couldn't seem to find a proper answer to whether I needed it 100% or not. Also the DS-3025 had me panicking until I saw this thread, as I didn't get a photocopy of that after the medical. This did answer the question, thank you.

  4. Hello!

So we're just starting on our AOS paperwork now and I'm a tiny bit confused about this one form. It does say that the K1 Visa aren't required to fill this out as long as it's within a year. I wasn't missing any shots (or if I was, they didn't tell me) and they took my medical folder when I entered the States and then didn't give me anything back.

Do I need to fill this out at all or can I just ignore it or is there something else I have to fill out or send in instead?

    Thank you!

  5. the fastest is to change your courier info to montreal once you clear the interview and stay in montreal for 3 more days

    that's what we did

as soon as the interview i changed the courier infor from sasktaoon to montreal

we picked our passport the third business day from a purolator location near the airport

the next day my wife came to the US

I think you were extremely lucky on this, as they could get stuck in processing or Montreal could be slow. Then you'd end up having to go back to Montreal to pick up the passport.

As for what the fastest is, it depends how far away you are from a pick up place. They need you to be home to sign for it as well if you end up asking them to deliver to your home. If you are home a lot and it's far, home is the best option!

  6. Hi,

I have received our NVC Case and Invoice number. We are about to receive our Packet 3 and we have it ready to be mailed out. I've heard we have to wait until we receive Packet 4 from Montreal, however I see on "ais.usvisa-info.com" that I can "Create An Applicant" with my case and DS-160 number. Am I eligible to book an interview at this time, and if I try will there be problems (delays, etc.)? Thanks.

Don't book your interview until after you get packet 4. You can just e-mail Montreal now with all the scanned documents that you need and they will e-mail you your packet 4 within a few days. Once you get that, which has the information you'll need and the links!, then you'll be able to do the interview scheduling (which then leads to medical scheduling). If you do it before you get packet 4, your interview will be cancelled.

  7. Thank you everyone for your help! I called Medisys again today and he said 3 business days. He advised for a Monday medical and a Friday interview. Does anyone know if we pick the interview date or if the embassy picks one for us?

I think I will just fly down on a Saturday and leave the following Sunday, there are some cheap airbnb's for ~50$ a night. I have always wanted to visit Montreal, anyways!

They only do k1 visa interviews on a Wednesday, that I know of. I was only given that option when I scheduled my interview (I had mine about a month ago) And they only mean business days for the 3 days, so make sure you aren't counting Saturday and Sundays.
  8. I'm from SK and I just went to Vancouver because you could just pick up the results the next day at 4. I found it to be much easier to afford one night's stay than the week in Montreal. From everything I've heard though, Montreal is only 3-4 days. Definitely not the 10! Unless they've become so overworked now that the K1 Visa interviews are only there?

  9. You should check which county Memphis is located and go from there. Inquiry directly with the county's clerk office by phone or email. It's also worth it talking to your pastor, he should know how things work there

    Good luck

Thank you! He'll probably have to phone in tomorrow and ask then. The pastor we're using (his from childhood) doesn't seem to know much about the process and hasn't really told us anything.

  10. So.. a tiny bit of help here please? I came to the US on a K1 Visa (POE July 9th, 2016) and we're getting married on August 16th (yay!) in Memphis, TN. We're getting married there due to his family, but he lives in Boston. So the question is.. would anyone happen to know how the marriage certificate works? We know that I need my birth certificate and passport for the license itself but the certificate is what we need to fill out the AOS information.

One website suggested that they give two copies of the certificate (unlike some states?) and the pastor can just give his copy in. Then we're done, we keep the certificate and use that. Or do we have to hand in the license to get the certificate? And if so, are we able to get it the next day at the office? (We're getting married on a Tuesday and looking at flying out on the Wednesday).

He hasn't quite looked into all of this and I'm so confused/busy with everything else at the moment. Any step by steps for how this goes down would be awesome.

    tl;dr

How do we get the certificate needed for the AOS if we're flying out the next day?

  11. For your status update, it usually takes about.. 3 days or so? It'll go into administrative processing first and then will say issued when it's being mailed to you. After that you'll have to wait for purolator to e-mail you where to pick it up.

Congrats on passing! Everyone said it's the easiest part, and it really is as long as you're prepared for it! The people there always seem to appreciate when you have it organised (I had tabs on mine too, colour coordinated as well) and can keep up with them.

  12. Well good news, my fiance interviewed and was approved on Monday! We had a scare the night before because she had forgotten the original police certificate back in her home city, but luckily they let her bring it in later that afternoon and all was well. Officer only asked her three questions (how/when we met, say 3 things about your fiances personality, how many times has your fiance visited Honduras). Now we just wait for the visa to be issued and she should come over sometime in August.

    Congrats! :)
