Once she enters the US with her IR5 and CBP endorses it, she will have a temporary GC good for 12 months, so she can leave and come back as an LPR.  Hopefully though after she leaves on this visit, she plans to come back within 6 months.

    Good Luck!

Thanks! How long is typically between her arrival and getting a temporary GC?

  2. My mother recently had her IR5 visa approved. Shes not ready to fully move to the US yet, however due to a personal circumstance I kind of need her here in the next couple of weeks. She has a B1 (tourist visa) and a IR5 visa which I just mentioned. Is she allowed to visit the US and then leave after a few days? Or is the IR5 visa one-entry only? If I have her "visit" here, send the paperwork for her green card, will she only be able to leave the US when she receives the notice (which can take a few weeks)?

    Thank you!

  3. Hello,

I originally came to the US 5 years ago with the K1 visa but a few years ago the US Citizen and I got divorced.

Now I am applying for the N400 interview and my appointment is coming up soon. Do I need any documentation from my past relationship besides the divorce certificate?

I'm also bringing my current CG (the 10 year one), and the notices I received in the mail about the N400 process. Anything else I am missing?

  4. This is orange girl here:

In July I got my green card. Next thing I did was to apply for tons of jobs, and sign up with a staffing agency. One week later, the first assignment. 3 weeks. Fastforward 3 months later, they kept me, I recently got hired for great position within the company, and I'm making the most of this opportunity, learning a lot about the industry, giving my all to meet all the expectations and perform a great job - yes, I'm a perfectionist. I love my job, I love the company I work for, it's a happy environment, and I love my co-workers. It really was a bliss getting this job, and I couldn't be happier. My mom is in town visiting, and my relationship with my husband gets stronger each day.

Just a little update about how my life is at the moment. :)

  5. Hi, everyone!

    Here's a little update:

Our relationship grows stronger and stronger every day. We are happily married and that fills my heart with joy, it's like a fairy tale.

My Green Card got approved on July 10th, without any interviews RFE's whatsoever. Not even AP or EAD.

On July 20th I started working as a temp at a mortgage company and I LOVE working there. It's a growing company that really values its employees and it's like a dream. I love waking up in the morning to go to work. Last week, one of the executives of the company noticed me arriving at work at 7am and me working really hard, and suggested me to apply for a full time position. I am currently waiting for a response from my application. God, I'm so happy.

I also want to say to everyone living the angst of still waiting for your Green Card to be granted:

    - While I was still waiting for my Green Card to be approved, all I did was to do, and re-do, and re-do my resume and started sending applications out as soon as I got my authorization. The next week, I already had a temp position.

    - My life got so much better since I got a job. I feel like I'm breaking free from the absolute dependence from my husband, I can go out and buy my own things with my own hard earned money. I know people from work. I have funny stories about work when we eat dinner every night. I can drive anywhere with confidence. The independence I got from getting a job made our relationship stronger. And we have so many plans for the future!

So, if you or your spouse are/is sitting at home now depressed and angsty because your Green Card wasn't granted yet, DON'T GIVE UP! Be optimistic! Things will get better! Having a life in the USA is a bliss, I am so happy and grateful for the speed that our case was processed.

Best of luck to everyone !!!

  6. Hey, everyone!!

I have an infopass appointment this week with The local USCIS office and I went there today to ask the documents I need to bring (as some of you guys already know, my GC never arrived) in order to get an I-551 stamp on my passport while I am still waiting for my GC. The officer told me all I needed was:

    Appointment confirmation page

    Proof of state residence

The thing is: I don't have a state Drivers license or any kind of ID issued by the state I live in!!!!! I have, however, a lease contract of the place I currently live and an utility bill from the place I lived until 2 weeks ago. They officer told me "it should be fine". Has anyone gone through similar situation?? Will those documents suffice this requirement? Thank you!!!!

  7. You can get a 551 stamp at any time if you are a permanent resident.

So if your GC was approved then you are a perm resident regardless of if you have the card in your hands or not. You do not need proof of your status when you go and ask for the stamp- you just need identity proof, they will check your status and issue you a stamp if you desire one because you do not have the card in hand.

However to get an infopass appt to get the stamp is going to take some time. My point was by the time you get there and get the stamp-- well it wont be much longer till the card arrives at the new address. So Im not sure how much use youre going to get out of the stamp. I dont know if you have a job offer yet or are just looking but most places will give you some time after you apply and are interviewed to present them work doc auths and stuff. You shouldnt necessarily need the card to apply and interview.

Also you should not be so so so concerned about e-verify. The employer will deal with that. If theres a problem they cant resolve feel free to post back and someone will have suggestions depending on what the issue is. But right now there is no issue besides you not being able to self verify which can be because Im assuming you changed your name due to marriage.

One last thing - you were approved in 74 days for your GREENCARD. That is a fantastic timeline for a k1. Some people are still waiting on their EAD. (disclaimer- if you are mistaken and this is your EAD combo card that got sent to the wrong address then you can NOT get a 551 stamp. you will just have to wait for the card to arrive. There is no alternate form of proof in that situation besides the actual card which the employer will need to complete the hiring process)

Thank you for your help!!! (F) I will bring my confirmation of Infopass appointment with USCIS (the website showed available dates for this next week) + my passport + my marriage certificate + SSN card + my change of address letter. I'm even thinking about bringing a copy of the USCIS case status page saying it was "delivered to my address" + the USPS website saying it was delivered to Missouri. If there's any other supporting evidence you think I could use, let me know, please!!

So, this is the actual I-485 petition, I also applied for EAD+AP but the I-485 was approved first and the combo application was "terminated".

  8. You asked in your initial post if there was an alternate means you can use. The I-551 stamp would act as proof of you being a permanent resident until you have a physical green card in hand.

I know you are upset but people on here are trying to help and are providing you with information and options.

the whole point in my initial post is that I don't have my green card in hands, hence my question. I mean, I am wondering if it's possible to get a I-551 stamp on my passport without receiving my green card yet. Or any kind of formal statement explaining my situation

and I'm truly sorry if anyone got offended, I didn't mean to be rude!!!

  9. Fourth- You can get a 551 stamp in your passport as proof of status. Use the search feature to find out more if you are interested in obtaining one. However by the time you go and obtain one you should have your GC. Its not going to take them that long to mail it out again.

What is the point in getting an I-551 stamp on my passport after receiving my GC? Also, is it possible to go on an Infopass appointment and getting some sort of document stating my particular case from USCIS? thank you

  10. Hey, everyone!!!

My I-485 petition was APPROVED last week and mistakenly sent to my previous address, which was flagged "undeliverable as addressed", and now, a week later, it is in Lees Summit, MISSOURI! I live in CONNECTICUT, and at my uscis case tracker, it says it was delivered to MY ADDRESS. Like, how come?!?!!?!??!

ANother desperate question: Is there any other way to show a potential employer that I am legal to work in the USA other than having the physical green card in hands or using e-verify???? If the employer does accept e-verify, it is enough so they see that I am legal to work here???

I have been trying to use e-verify self check without any luck, I'm afraid that if my employer tries to access it it also not shows any information about me. I am so stressed out about that, these people at USCIS are beyond incompetent!!!

  11. Ok, after one week, today it was delivered in MISSOURI!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live in CONNECTICUT!!! Those people are a joke... I might receive my green card God knows when and I have jobs lined up like... is there ANY other way to attest my employment authorization other than a physical green card or e-verify?? Also, I couldnt access the e-verify self check, I put all the correct info's about me!! Help!!

  12. Hey, everyone!

My I-485 just got approved and I have my SSN card, but it says "Valid to work Only with DHS Authorization". Well, I got this job offer that is to start ASAP, and I am wondering, is it possible to start working before getting a new SSN card (would take up to 2 weeks to get a new one), or should I just wait until I have it in hands? DO I need a new card at all??? I don't want to do anything shady.

  13. OMG!

When I thought everything was done and I could finally rest and do my job hunt, I encountered with this news: my card was delivered TODAY to my former address and is in Hartford and will have to be sent back to Kentucky. I changed the address on the USCIS A-11 form or something like that about a week ago, and they said they'd be done by July 20th. Is there a way I can show up and pick my I-485 card up???? I want to start working!!!!!!!!!

  14. Yay!! Congrats!!

My fiance enters the US on Monday! Wedding day July 30th. (L)

    That's amazing!!! Congratulations!

That's amazing! Congrats on being done with USCIS for a couple of years :).

Rileybrynn - Congrats! You must be so excited. My fiancé arrives four weeks from tomorrow.

    WOW!!!! :dancing:

That's so wonderful! We just sent our AOS package and hoping for a speedy processing as well. Fingers crossed!

    Hooray! Congrats

Thank you so very much, guys! We're so happy!! Now we're ready to start the job hunting! I'm very surprised and happy with the speed of the process and it was just a few day before my husband's birthday, so that's a good birthday gift ^_^:luv:

Please, don't forget to post here when your GC gets approved too! I want to hear some more good news! :dancing:

  15. Hello all. Is "Administrative Processing" a standard status following an interview? The consular officer told my fiance he'd receive his visa in about a week. From what I can tell on here, some people say AP status is normal and others have been in AP for weeks or months. But does everyone's show that status before it is issued?

Yes, that's totally normal, I would say that happens to everyone. It happened to mine too, it even said it was "ready for interview", which made no sense, but about 1-2 week(s) after the interview, my passport was ready, and the status was "issued" on the website. It's all good, girl! ;)

  16. It's perfectly fine. We had the same issue, just give it a couple more days, maybe a week or two.

    I'm a bit worried. So,

AOS and EAD received date: May 16, 2016

AOS and EAD notice date: May 19, 2016

I already received my NOA1 on both AOS and EAD, but the receipt number is not recognize by the USCIS case tracking site. I haven't got anything in the mail for the biometrics yet. Is this normal? Is anyone experiencing this as well?
