  1. You have already married your wife.

As of for the rest, if she wants to work, she needs a SSN. If she wants to drive, she needs a driver's licence. If she adds one previously, it might be transferable from her country of origin.

Don't forget to collect evidence for when the time comes to remove the conditional status.

    Cheers!

Pay the 165 green card free if you haven't already. No married is married you are already legally married.

    Thanks guys!

Yes I read all about removing conditional status part, that's why I'll get her SSN and DL as soon as she gets settled and have our life established.

  2. My wife got her CR-1 visa, and now I'm trying to find the next steps when she gets her. I assume she needs to get a SSN, driver's license, etc.

But what about a marriage certificate? Do we need to get "re-married" in the US and produce an American marriage cert or will be be based on the foreign one?

Is there a wiki regarding these kind of steps?

    Thanks!

  3. you need your passport along with the appointment letter to get into the consulate on the day of the interview

The embassy will take the passport and quickly check the documents when she drops them off 1-2 weeks before the interview date.

I don't know if it changes by countries, but I never sent any originals. I specially wouldn't send my passport. If you feel worried, you could get your copies notarized.

Thanks all for the help. I'll ask her to have the passport in hand when she goes to drop off the documents, but keep it with her.
