  1. Hi Auschris, Did you registered on https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-US/countries_list/iv,

The courier will send you an email to confirm the shipment of your visa.

That is my case. I know my visa will able to pick up on Monday 8th.

When was your interview? I don't think that this option is applicable to Nigeria. We were given a white paper with the address of the pick up location circled.
  2. Our interview held today at US Consulate in Lagos. Everything was smooth sailing and we got our approval on the spot. Yesterday, we got a sign that all will go well. Our 15-month old son walked for the first time and that created a joyful atmosphere in our home.

    BACKGROUND OF OUR CASE

Our visa category was EB-3 (an employment-based immigrant visa) and the petition was filed on our behalf by my employer. The process took 6 months (August, 2015 – February, 2016) to complete. Our priority date was August 20, 2015. The I-140 petition went through premium processing and got approved in less than 15 days.

    MAIN GIST

Our appointment was for 7am but we got to the embassy by 5.30 am. There were already about 20 persons waiting. At 6.00 am we lined up went through the first security screening by police men. We were checked using a hand-held metal detector. Thereafter, we lined up in front of the pavilion and were given instructions by the embassy security staff. We were told of the items that were not allowed in the embassy. We were also instructed to open all sealed envelopes, including the medical report.

Inside the pavilion, we were frisked and our bags/envelopes were searched. We proceeded to a table where we handed over our appointment letter and our names were cross-checked on a list. A white slip was given to us to fill in our contact details when we get into the embassy building. From here, we moved across the road into the main building where we were subjected to the final screening. We went through a scanner and were asked to remove wrist watches, bangles, shoes etc.

At the entrance of the waiting area, we were instructed to press ‘B’ on a machine and a slip with a number appeared. It is with this number that we were called during the remainder of the process. There were already some people in the waiting area. After a wait of about 30 minutes, I was called to submit my documents like international passport, passport photos, marriage certificate, medical report, police character, educational certificates, visascreen and CGFNS certificates (a requirement for nurses immigrating on employment-based immigrant visas) and job offer letter. Submission of documents took about 30 minutes.

After what looked eternity, our number popped up at Window 1 for the interview proper. We were interviewed by a beautiful and well-mannered Caucasian lady. She asked my wife and myself to raise our right hands and swear to tell the truth and took our finger prints. My left finger prints were taken on behalf of our children.

She asked me the following questions:

    - What do you do?

    - Where do you work currently?

    - What is your nursing specialty?

    - Which of your employer’s location in the US will you be working in?

    - How did you hear about your employer?

    - Did they interview you?

    - Did you go to the US for the interview?

    - Have you been to the US?

    - Do you have a relative in the US?

    - What state is he in?

    - When did you get married?

    - What are the birth dates of your children? (wife answered)

She brought out a white slip and circled an address and asked me to pick up our passports in 2 weeks. She informed us that we could have someone pick up the passports on our behalf (since we don’t leave in Lagos) by filling the reverse side of the form and asking the person to go to the collection centre with it. We were also given another white paper with instructions on how to pay the green card of $165.

We left the building at 10.00am.

This is the end of this phase of our journey. TO GOD ALONE BE ALL THE GLORY IN JESUS NAME. AMEN

  3. Our interview is scheduled for Feb 4th at the US Consulate in Lagos and we began our medicals on 1/28 and completed it on 1/30. We came to Lagos from Enugu on 1/27 after a 9-hour journey.

We got to the hospital (The Childrens Practice in Ikoyi, Lagos) at about 5.45am and waited till their gates opened at 7.25am. A security guard asked us to write our names on a sheet of paper and ushered us into the hospital premises. Others who came after us also wrote down their names.

At 8.00am, they started attending to us in the order that the names were written. First, we met the receptionist who requested for our visa interview appointment letter (P4) and our international passports after which she gave us a bank teller to make payments for consultation at Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB). The bank is located about 400m from the hospital on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi. We paid the sum of #46,000 (#30,000 for two adults and #16,000 for two children).

The receptionist generated a payment receipt for us and requested for copies of the data page of our passports and six copies each of our passport photos. A form was given to us to fill our contact details as well as intended US address. We were also given a consent form to sign. Thereafter, we were given two tags each with numbers printed on them. The green tag was for X-ray while the red tag was for blood tests.

The medical examination began at about 9.00am with X-rays. I went in first and was asked to remove my shirt and singlet and stand in front of the machine. I was instructed to take in a deep breath and hold it until the image was captured. In less than 10 minutes, I was done. My wife went in next. Our children (3 years and 1 year old) were not ‘X-rayed’. At each service point, our passports were requested as means of identification.

Next, we went for the blood tests. We were called according to the numbers on the red tag. The nurse measured our heights and weights and took our body temperatures. She also calculated our B.M.I. and wrote it down on the consent form. Blood samples were drawn from me and my wife only. However, purified protein derivative (PDD) was injected under the skin of our 3-year old daughter and the area was marked with an indelible ink. We were instructed not to allow her scratch or scrub the area and come back in 48 hours to have it ‘read’. This is the Mantoux test that reveals exposure to tuberculosis.

We proceeded to the next building for consultation with the physician. After a short wait, we were ushered into the physician’s office. She took our medical history (all 4 of us), measured our blood pressures and asked us to read a chart with alphabets from a distance (wife and I only). She went through our immunization records to determine the vaccines we will need to meet the requirements of our proposed visa category. Based on our history and records, my wife and I were to be given tetanus toxoid (TT), measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) and oral polio vaccine (OPV). As health personnel, my wife and I had to show proof that we have received Hepatitis B vaccine (HBV). Our children were to receive MMR, OPV, Varicella (for chicken pox), pneumococcal vaccine and a booster dose of Pentacoq (pentavalent vaccine). In addition, our 1-year old son was to receive Hepatitis A vaccine.

We went back on Saturday (1/30) to conclude the medicals. The Mantoux test for daughter was negative and we had our vaccinations. We made payment using my debit card. Our vaccinations cost #110,000. We are glad to get this stage out of the way. We were told that the results will be ready on Monday (2/1) by 4.00pm but I’ll go for the result this morning.

Next up for us is the interview. Thanks for reading

  4. So I had my interview today. Approved on the spot. Only question asked was how did we two meet. Nothin else. Neither proof of relationship nor financial support docs were asked for. It was a piece of cake. Except though before the interview, at the document collection window I was told that NVC had not updated some crucial info on the ds 260 and I was told to go find a cyber cafe and fix that before the interview could happen. I did get a fright there, but managed all within the 90 minutes given to me. Back at the consulate in time for the interview.

Congratulations. What a way to start the new month!

  5. Thank you everyone! Here is my interview experience:

So I arrived there really early, 3 hrs prior to the interview. I asked one of the guards outside the embassy if I have to give them my interview appointment letter, so they will know I'm there and he said it's not necessary, because I should be on the list. But that I need to wait till 1 pm.

I came back at the embassy at 12:30 and there were already few people outside waiting. Fortunately the weather was lovely :)

At 12:55 someone came with a list and started calling the people. I got called the 5th. Inside, we had to go through security check same as when going to the airport. We were not allowed to carry any backpacks with us so I had to take out my 2 huge folders, huge wedding album + another photo album where I had pictures with us from our trips. Then we were sent to another building where we were asked to wait till we hear our names called.

Unfortunately, I was literally the last one to be called for the interview. I think there were 12 people in front of me.

When my name finally got called, I went to the window and a nice young lady introduced herself and then asked me to rise my right hand and to swear that everything that I presented and what I will say it's the truth.

First question was: did you pay anyone to introduce you to your husband? I was shocked and said: no, no, no. Then I told her that we met in Abu Dhabi, while in training, sent there by our company (we used to work for the same company). From there on it was mostly a conversation. I started telling her about us and out relationship and she was asking a question from time to time.

Other questions asked: did you started dating ever since? (when we met in Abu Dhabi)

    - Did he meet your parents?

    - Did you meet his parents? I told her yes, that they came to the wedding in Romania and that also some of his friends came too, all the way from Alaska and Canada.

    - What is he doing now?

    - Are you working?

Since none of us is working currently, she asked me: and what are you guys planning to do in US? So I told her that Bryan is looking for a job and he might potentially obtain an officer position in the US Army and that as soon as I get my SSN I will start looking for a job.

She asked: so you guys wanna settle in the US, cause I can see from your documents you have been moving around the world a lot due to your job. So I told her that yes, for the moment that's the plan, but hey.. you never know what the life has planned for you :) And then she smiled and said that's true.

Then she said: well, you guys showed us more proof than we needed and everything looks good. In that moment she took my passport and handed it to me. I was shocked!!! I thought she's going to deny my visa or something. She smiled and said: don't worry, it's your old passport with your tourist visa which I cancelled, cause I have just approved your visa. Congratulations and welcomed to United States!

I was soooo happy!!! And that was my interview! Easier than I would have expected, honestly.

When they asked me for proof of relationship, I had a full folder with hundreds of pages worth of conversations on Facebook, emails, flights and hotels from our trips, phone bills and such. They only took the emails from me, the flights and hotels bookings and the small photo album (the big wedding album didn't fit through the window lol).

They didn't ask me for any financial docs, no I-864, no W2s, no pay stubs, nothing!

Now, 1 day after my interview, when checking the ceac website I can see my visa status changed to ISSUED!!! Yaaaay!!! Nightmare is over!! Will be flying to the States on January 12th. POE is going to be San Diego :)

    Congratulations

  6. The case complete email comes 7 days after case complete so if its truly 12/3 expect he email 12/10 or 12/11.

however I would call NVC again maybe next week to see if you truly have case complete. i have seen too many cases of people who have case complete but are told you will be sent to Supervisor review only to find out a month or longer they now have case complete.

So verify maybe next week. Interviews for January are done so you would be in the queue for February.

Thank you for your prompt response. You have been very helpful. I'll do just as you have suggested. God bless you

  7. The scan date for my documents is 11/29. I called NVC last week and was told the 30-day period for documents review has elapsed and that it will be sent for supervisor review. Out of curiosity, I called again yesterday (twice) and was informed that my case was completed on 12/3.

My concern is that I have not been notified formally and the 3 "N/As" have not appeared on my status in the CEAC website.

Is this normal? Anyone in this kind of situation?

  8. So sorry. It's 11/29. I just called NVC now and was told that my case was completed on December 3. I guess the first operator gave me a wrong information about the supervisor review. However, the "magical" 3 N/As are yet to appear on CEAC website. Any idea on when the 3 N/As should appear.

  9. How long does a supervisor Review take. My scan date is 12/29/2015 and I was hoping that I'll get a CC within 30 days. I just got off the phone with someone at the NVC. She told me they will have a supervisor review my documents.

Anyone with a similar experience and how long did it take?
