I applied (N400). Within 3 months I got a response from N400 application, setting me for the test in 1 month. (!) So the N400 altogether took 5 months -to send, receive and get scheduled for test.

I thought great. But I don;t have my gc, and on the letter from N400  it says to bring gc for test. So I call Uscis, and one guy from second tier said yes, go to the test, your gc app is on hold, but go to the test.

This was a problem that I cannot understand, two Uscis individuals telling me different things. I said, but someone from Uscis on the phone, told me to come. But he was like no.

The citizenship department and green card department, as per what this Uscis person told me today at the test, are separate. And when I add the fact that I filed for GC  on the east coast and now for citizenship on the west coast, it creates extra bureaucracy stuff.

I thought Uscis is one entity, turns out there are different dept inside. This guy had none of my paperwork (At least I think so)

 

As for why I think it's taking so long:

Now reading above, I realize I moved a lot with my wife (east to west). So they will probably want to interview us. We also had to send more evidence.
 

So the lesson is, I guess, do apply for citizenship if you can even if you are waiting for removal of conditions because he didn't allow me to take the test, but he asked for my paperwork and said he will find out why my case is taking so long. I guess that's the good part that happened. He didn't ask me to retract the n400 application.

I had delays on removal of conditions on green card, and I ended up applying for citizineship. It ended well for me and I took the naturalization exam before the conditions were removed. I belive N400 application pushed the I175. My advice would be to apply as soon as you are eligible.

Received my 10 years Green Card yesterday ! Finally after 21 months of wait and security checks ! I have Naturalization test on 25th this months, hopefully things will go fine and I am done with this long journey.

To all of you waiting, please hang in there, keep contacting them, and make frequent infopass visits !

One piece of advice, if you are eligible to apply for naturalization, do it immediately, do not wait, that pushed the case a lot. At one info pass the officer suggested that I retract the N-400 application ! Just file it and stick to it. Good luck to all of you.

I didn't receive a notice regarding being in line for interview, just a interview letter. About a month before that I made ombudsman request and I was told that I will get interview from USCIS.

My interview was good, the officer was nice, she said that we were called for 2 reasons, first because I have moving around a lot (3 times in one year because of my work) , and second because my wife name was not on the our 3rd lease (she wasn't accepted because of credit score and I took the lease under my name).

I explained both issues, and before going I took bunch of evidence showing that she was actually living there (mail, pay stubs with our current address), the officer said everything looks fine, and said he needs to ask some questions cause its routine, we were both present, simple questions :

Husbands full name, where is he working, date of birth, how many times did he travel out of the state, and few simple ones I cant remember.

Then she asked me about her date of birth, random family members names and where they work and how are they related to her, what does she do for living and what is her exact role there.

Then she asked if we any new evidence for her, we gave insurance cards, our state IDs, credit card/bank statements, and some photos.

The most important thing was that we had everything in order, whenever he asked for something we had it ready, and we also took a lot of photos.

I received text message stating that the card is being produced ! actually 3 messages ! I will hold off celebration until I get letter of approval or actual GC in mail !

thank you for your reply, I am not sure if that means I am approved ! That's why I am confused. The officer had the n-400 application in the file, but had no idea about my case being in line for interview, which makes me wonder that both are unrelated.

Hello everyone, I hop =e I can get some answers regarding this, some info:

- I751 application was sent in Jan 2015, and RFE later on, then my case was stuck in security checks !

-N-400 application sent in April 2016, fingerprints May 2016.

- Received I-751 interview notice in August 2016

- 2 days before i751 interview , status updated for N-400 : "in line for N-400"

- I-751 interview went fine, there was one question my wife answered wrong "How many times did your husband travel out of the states ?" Even I don't remember that answer, but the officer was nice and said we should receive green card 1 month from now and I might make the naturalization ceremony to be able to vote. But I don't know if I was approved or not since I didn't ask directly.

- 1 week later, N-400 status updated " interview scheduled" !

Now I am not sure if I-751 was approved ? does having my interview scheduled means I am ? I am confused !!

Security checks were cleared for me, last month I went to an info pass, the officer told that a part of my checks were under review and if they found nothing they won't look further into it. I received interview letter and done my interview few days ago, it went ok and the officer said we should hear something soon.

Also, 2 days before i-751 interview my N-400 was put in line for interview !

Just to update you guys, I opened Ombudsman service request, and after 2 months they sent me an email saying that they subtimmed an inquiry to uscis, few weeks after they sent me an email stating that USCIS informed them that they are working actively on my case, next day they sent email tha USCIS informed them that I should be recieving an interview in the upcoming 90 days !

So I am waiting for that now

It's great that there is some kind of response from their behalf ! means that they haven't forgotten about your case at least.

I completely understand the hardships you are going through, I am in a similar situation. Hopefully, things will workout.

Sure I will, I just did my fingerprints today, now the same security checks, lets wait and see.

Did early biometrics today, Jamaica Queens, NY office, finished in 15 minutes !

Anyone have done early biometrics in Queens office? I am travelling for a job interview, and was wondering if they will be able to accommodate me on that !

So it's been over 1 year since I filed for ROC, Jan 5th 2015, and its still pending security checks.

What actions can we take ? I tried online request, and Ombudsman without any benefit. Can we take any kind of legal actions ?

The delay is affecting my chances in getting jobs ( I know that legally I am eligible to work, but it's more complicated than that).

I feel this is going nowhere, and the more the delay the more the consequences in my career. I need a solution

That is odd, my case is stuck after RFE. Really don't know how they operate.

Receipt date 05/03/2016

Priority date 04/22/2016

My case number goes NBC*XXXX ! Why do they have an asterisk after NBC ? and I saw people with other case numbers starting with IOE ? any info ?

Also, what does priority date mean?

As of today I haven't receive any notice, my CC hasn't been charge. I'm so worried, I don't know if my application is stucked somewhere or is been misplaced.

What I'm thinking right now:

Should I resubmit a new application or just hang in to see if things might change. So frustrating??

I was in a similar situation, my packet received on 4/22, they charged my credit card yesterday (05/3), wait a little bit. If there is something wrong they will send you the documents back with a notice explaining what went wrong.

My credit card was billed today ! At least now I know that I didn't make any mistake and things are moving, now the wait for my NOA and biometrics.
