  1. For those interested, here is our quick story

Applied on Oct7 and quickly went to NOA2 on oct 28th. NVC received our packet and sent it to embassy in Mumbai India on Nov23. As soon as it was sent, we created a USTRAVELDOCS account and took care of all the fees and medical exam and I tentatively scheduled an apt for Dec 16 even before we got a packet 4. After I did all this and my fiancé did her medical, on Dec9, I contacted the embassy and told them I had done all this. They then immediately sent over packet 4 and today my fiancée went in for the Interview.

She was only asked the following q:

    1) do you know what K1 visa means?

    2) what does your fiancé do?

    3) been to the USA to visit him?

    4) ok w wedding in USA?

Within a couple mins Of interacting, the CO said her visa is approved!!!!

    Happiest moment!

Praying for all y'all out there!

  2. My fiance got an email from USTRAVELDOCS after I had sent them an email requesting further information.

"Thank you for your email. We are in the process of reviewing your case file and it may take a couple of days. Once we finish reviewing your case file, we will send an interview appointment instructions notification on the postal address provided in your records.

We hope you find this information useful.

    Sincerely

    Consular Information Unit"

We have paid our fees, submitted DS-160. We have NOT scheduled our VAC or Embassy interview and i guess we should wait until they give us the green light. Is there anything I should do/shouldnt do?

We can only get medical exam done once we have an appointment confirmation - per request of the Hospital

  3. So, my case is currently in Transit to Mumbai embassy from the NVC.

We have submitted the DS-160, paid the visa fee on USTRAVELDOCS, got PCC, collected all documentation for Affidavit of Support, we have our proof of relationship. Only thing pending is medical exam which apparently you can only get once we have an appointment confirmation.

What do we do at this point? Is there going to be a Packet 3 and Packet 4 from Mumbai?? Or do I call the embassy in a couple days to ask if we should go ahead with scheduling appointment? I am a little lost at this point.

    I129F file - Oct 1 2016

    NOA 1- Oct 7 2016

    NOA 2 - Oct 28 2016 (21 days after NOA1!!!)

    At NVC - Nov 23 2016 (25 days after NOA 2 :clock: )

In transit to Mumbai - Nov 28 2016

  4. We decided not to risk anything. expedited deportation could mean 5 year ban regardless of what happens with K1. She is NOT coming :cry::cry:

Thank you guys so much for all your input

Now, it says my case in in transit to Mumbai NVC.

We already have PCC, submitted the DS-160, paid visa fees, and waiting on embassy to get in touch with us so we can book our appointment. Also we have all of our affidavit of support documents squared away.

Hoping the embassy lets us know quickly and we can do the interview ASAP!!

I am praying every cell in me that shes here by the end of this year!

  5. As long as she can show her proof of ties in India with intent of returning she should have no issue.

It is always up to immigrations whether to permit entry into the U.S.; but others have visited using a tourist visa before while their petitions are processing.

Again just have her show strong ties and intent to return and she should be fine.

    Anything she can do?

  6. My fiance and I are applying for her K-1 visa from India. Our case is currently at NVC but has been approved by USICS with no issues. Its supposed to go to mumbai embassy where she will have her interview. we have not received her Packet 3 or Packet 4 just yet.

    Timeline:

    Application date: Oct 3 2016

    NOA 1: Oct 7th

NOA 2: Oct 28th - approved by USCIS

At NVC: Nov 23rd and currently there

we are hoping her k1 visa would be approved by Jan

She has a 10 yr long tourist visa that was approved to her in March 2016 (before we got engaged, before we applied for K-1). She had come with me to the usa after our engagement and stay with me the entire allocated time of 6 months (actually 5 months and 25days) before she went back to india (she did not get married to me here even though we were engaged - hopefully this tells CBP that she intends to go back). We got K-1 approval after she had returned back to india. Its been approx 1 month since shes been in india but we need to plan our wedding. she is planning on flying back to USA sometime this week for approx 3 weeks to meet in person with my parents again and all the people that need to be met with to determine what kind of wedding we are going to do/if we are even going to have a ceremony - tough to do all this on facetime. Also to spend her bday and xmas here with me.

She will take with her all the paperwork to show our case has been approved and at NVC stage, return air ticket back to india, paperwork to show she is the CEO of a company in India.

What are you all's thoughts on this? I am hoping this wont be an issue at the POE

our advice would be super appreciated guys

  7. So i just got off the phone with USCIS. They say the best way for her to come back with me in April 2016 is to have her come here on a Temporary visa (usually tourist thats valid for 6 months) but as soon as she gets her file the I-130 petition form stating we are married. Once thats filed and the application status is in "pending" stage, she can stay in the USA even if the 6 months tourist visa expires and until the GC is issued. Any thoughts on this?

Dept of State will authorize the temp visa. How will it be to get past CBP upon arrival in the USA?

    Thanks everyone

  8. So Ive been reading and it seems like IR-1 is the best way to go about it because 1) we intend to wed in India April 2016 and 2) we would've been married for less than 2 years.

For the IR-1, Ill need to fill out Form I-130 - Petition for Alien relative. We are not married yet (so technically not a relative). How should I go about preparing and submitting documentation if I would like to try to get her here in April? Its okay if its gonna be later than april for her to come here. Just want to start the processes early as possible hoping itll go thru by april

thanks again for all your help guys

  9. Hey guys, Im sure there's a nice post about this somewhere but I, unfortunatley, could not find it. So heres the story:

I am a physician and a naturalized US citizen x 10yrs. My fiancee and I have been together for some time and we are looking to get married in April of 2016. She is an Indian citizen who has traveled aboard multiple times. Ideally, we would get married (basically a court wedding) in India where family is around and shortly after that we would like to start our lives together in the USA. orr if itll be easier to have her over here, we can attempt to get her a K-1 visa and have a court wedding here within 90 days of arrival.

Ill be flying back to India for a few days in December. At that time, im hoping to have all documentations ready to submit.

This is our biggest dilemma. K-1 visa or something else (if we get married in USA) - which ever one is easier/painless. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

    thanks everyone
