  1. Wow!!! I did'nt know that it will be longer than I expected. Some people got their combo cards after a week of approval ? Can't wait to have mine too so i can apply my drivers license here. I thought I have to call Uscis since its been 11 days approved and my case is not changing the status. Well... i need to buy PATIENCE ?

    Thanks anyways!

Not trying to discourage you, you're absolutely correct most people in the timelines have been getting their cards in 7-10 days. Same can be said about approvals between 75-85 days. Unfortunately that isn't everyone. EAD/AP should be a rubber stamp process for those K1 AOS'ers like ourselves because a) we are already here and b) we're attempting to be legal taxpaying workers, no downside for the USA. They had a chance to reject your K1 application, your K1 interview, your arrival screening and will again if you come back on parole. There are people receiving AOS approval prior to EAD/AP - how is that even possible given the amount of information required with an AOS and supporting evidence vs the simple AP/EAD forms? Meanwhile they are approving citizenship applications for people that were supposed to be deported, good job USCIS.

There seems to be an issue for people with approval / production dates the last two weeks, not a lot of receptions. Call USCIS and they'll stick to the 30 day language and that you have to wait. My concern would be if the IO didn't press the production button, and I would call a Tier2 IO to verify that your card production status (has been requested for production / has been produced) if you haven't seen it already. This should all be automated but when you look at the results, that is not the case and there are is no recourse besides your state representatives and Ombudsman, which can be limited and slow.

If the DMV can print me a drivers liscense in 10 minutes, so should the USCIS be able to. Or at least there should be an option to have it done at the local office with an infopass appointment (similar to the i551 stamp for approved GC).

  2. 11 dsys had passed and I still dont get mat EAD/AP Card, it was approved in Sept 21. Is it normal? My case status for both are still APPROVED. I am waiting for the status to be card was mailed but unfortunately nothings change yet. Any idea, how long I supposed to get my combo card after approval?

    USCIS: Approved/Ordered for Production -> Approved/Ordered for Production -> Produced / Mailed -> Received

Hopefully you went from Ordered for Production -> Approved such that you know it was ordered right away. Otherwise, like my case, they waited a week after approval to order it for production. That was 10 days ago, 17 days since approval. Its a mess. I'd sign up for USPS so at least you know when its coming independent of USCIS. And from what has been seen, "Mailed" from USCIS doesn't necessarily mean in the mail. Welcome to the USCIS post-approval circus.

  3. Thank you!!! I will wait until Monday and see if there will be any change and then i will do that too. I called today and the tier1 was the first lady that was so nice to me ever since i called uscis for the first time for my k1 visa. She explained to me that they are a bit backlogged and that their online programs are down too. But she told me since i'm not past the 90 days, i have to wait and if my status will not change then i can call again and they will open an investigation file for my case and see why i'm not approved yet. :dancing:

Yes this is the problem with the call center, call 10 times, get 10 different answers / results. If you challenge them on anything they say, instead of investigating and figuring out they are wrong, they just tell you to make an infopass appointment.

    Here is your justification: https://www.uscis.gov/forms/tip-sheet-employment-authorization-applications-pending-more-75-days

    Pretty explicit, no?

Again their objective is to do as little work as possible and get you off the phone as soon as possible. Now, I have run across a good one or two reps who do appear sympathetic and try to get as much information as possible, but this is not the norm.

  4. Today is my 74th day and i have no change on my ead and ap status. Since tmrw is my 75th day i guess i will wait until monday and then give them a call. Can someone help me and tell me what number should i call? Thank you and congrats to everyone who got approved!

I'd recommend doing it online (https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayONPTForm.do?entryPoint=init&sroPageType=onpt) that was there is no confusion. A IO field a SR 30 days ago on the phone after being at 90+ days and "past regulatory timeframe", still not assigned, this one shows up as a "general inquiry". I filed another inadvertently with a Tier1 agent when I explained that I wanted to talk to a Tier2 to discuss my SR status, he said he couldn't see it and so filed another one, this was 20 days ago. It showed up as a service request on my status page, was assigned and approved same day (of course card wasn't requested for production until 7 days later but that is another story).

Bottom line, I wouldn't leave it to chance (USCIS personnel) to file a service request properly. I'd do it online with the correct terminology ("case outside normal processing time", "case past regulatory timeframe", "case approaching regulator timeframe", etc) so there is no confusion.

  5. Got my combo card today just randomly checked the status and it had been delivered! Now to get a job and get driving! Good luck to those still waiting! I'm also intrigued how long it'll take before my status for the greencard will change!

    Congrats,

What type of notification did you receive from USCIS prior to it? Approved? Production Ordered? Mailed?

Did you sign up for USPS and if so receive any notification?

    Thanks.

  6. I think you're right about the office/region making a big difference, Soley. And yes, I'll make sure to be prepared for the appointment. You get 15 mins and not a minute more according to the scheduling tool -- so I better be on point.

I'm hoping that maybe my case status will even be updated to sent before the appointment, in which case I would probably just cancel it (if that's possible). Looks like I haven't learned my lesson about being overly optimistic yet...Not giving up hope!

I'm sorry buzzz! That's really discouraging. From what I've heard online, I would definitely call in today or tomorrow -- since it's been 30 days without an update. Maybe they can give you more info? Can't hurt to pester them, right?

What city are you living in? Maybe it does have an effect on the times, as Soley said. Still don't really understand how the processing works. Do they process in the field office in your region? I originally sent my package to Chicago, but I assume they reassign it by region?

As I understand it, everything goes from Chicago to NBC (outside of Kansas City). They process the AP and EAD themselves, do some processing on the AOS but then that is eventually sent to the field office for interview. I don't know how much work is done at NBC and how much at local office, and if any is done at the field office if you are approved without interview. I have also read of cases being sent out to other offices (not local) due to overload. Point being, this is all for AOS.

For AP and EAD, as I understand it, it is all done at the NBC. This is where my rub is, the amount of inconsistency case to case at the same facility for what essentially is a rubber stamp process. In Buzz's case, how come his case status never updated to approved and then to card in production, it has been a month and he has the approval letter. In my case how come it took one week to go from approved to production? I don't buy the "backup". If there was backup, people at days 60-80 wouldn't be getting approved then receive their cards 10 days later. Presumably they are printing all of these cards from the same place (MO and/or KY) with photo scans, so everyone should be suffering the same if there were a "production backup". Something is screwed up here. My experience with the call center is that they are inconsistent in what they tell you and the end goal is to get you off the phone, so they tell you what you want to hear sometimes. My speculation is incompetent and/or disgruntled Service Officers handling the cases. Simple pushbutton operations are not occurring in a reasonable timeframe.

  7. Hi Tortuga,

These are the notifications I received from the app track

Card is being produced->Card Approved (Same day)->Card was mailed to me (day 4)->Card is delivered by the post (day 11)

So when status changed to card was mailed, you are expecting to get it within a week. Mine is exactly a week

Thanks, I'm at Approved -> Production (+8 Days) -> Today (+15 Days, no additional update). I saw a bunch of people say they just went into production last week so hopefully these are batched together, curious as to how they are progressing.

  8. No it did not happen to me. The day I received the card, the status also changed to card is delivered by the post office with the tracking number XXXXXXXX

So to be clear, what notifications did you receive from USCIS?

    Card in Production

    EAD approved

    Card has been mailed

    Card picked up by USPS

And did you sign up for my USPS, if so did you receive any notifications from them?

Looks like there are a lot of people who received the production notice last week and haven't seen any deliveries yet this week. I'm still stuck on card production and curious if people in the same situation have received mailed notifications or if it is common to receive the card without a "mailed" notification from USCIS and no notification from USPS. I believe I've read of cases but not sure how normal this is.

    Thanks.

  9. I filed a SR on 24aug then on 26aug it was completed, I've heard nothing other than receiving an email stating that they will process or have a notice of action shortly....today i am at day 95 from the receive date listed on the NOA and their website. We received no rfe/rfie - I am having the wife call Tuesday first thing and ask WTH is going on.

So I don't think a SR can hurt but it definitely may or may not get your EAD sooner as you can see some get theirs while others wait weeks on end still. :)

I'm in the same boat from received/NOA timeframe but you're a week ahead of me on the SR. It looked like clockwork this would happen 90 days or less so I didn't have any concerns and didn't look into the details on what if things didn't happen as fast as they normally do. We've got our honeymoon later this month so we are starting to sweat.

Regarding the "approaching" and "past" regulatory time, where is the requirement spelled out - is that a law or a requirement for the government? The link above is helpful on how to proceed based on your timeframe but it would be good to have a specific reference on how the USCIS is no complying with some regulation.

    Thanks!
