  1. I was wondering if this scenario happened to anyone else recently (found some posts from years ago with this scenario but not recent ones).

We got our NOA2 on September 21st 2015. As of October 28th 2015 NVC (the national visa center) claims they havent received our paperwork yet. Looking at posts here many forum members who got their NOA2s a week or two after hours have already been given an NVC#. So Im worried out paperwork got lost somewhere.

I called the USCIS a week ago on October 21st and talked to a tier 2 officer to open an investigation on the whereabouts of our paperwork. The officer told me that our paperwork got send to the NRC (national records center) at the end of September and also to the NVC even though she couldnt see the date when it got sent to NVC. She claimed that all paperwork gets sent to NRC first and then it gets sent to NVC.

I read on lifeasmrspresson and in older posts here about people who get their paperwork sent to NRC instead of the NVC and how it is apparently a mistake the USCIS makes from time to time. However the USCIS officer told me it always gets sent to NRC first. Regardless I requested an investigation to be started and they told me someone would have an answer for me in 3 weeks.

I tried to get a manager from NVC involved as well but everytime I ask to speak to one I'm told they are all busy and that I will have to call later.

Has anyone else been through this recently?

If so, what did you do that helped?

  2. oh, congrats!!! and thanks for the great news, our NOA2 is also 21 of Sep, so hope to get the number by the end of the week too!

Faithua, was your USCIS center by any chance the California one?

Our NOA2 is also from Sept 21 but as of yesterday NVC has not gotten the paperwork. I talked to USCIS about this yesterday and when I mentioned that other applicants with September 24 NOA2s had already gotten their NVC numbers, they told me that different USCIS centers send their mail at different times and they process their batches differently. So its possible that the California USCIS office got delayed in sending the documents.

Anyone else from California having delays or getting their NVC numbers quickly?

  3. Has anyone managed to get through to NVC today? I have been trying since yesterday and the automated response says "all of our customer service agents are busy with other callers, please try again later". I re-dialed about 10 times and the same response, it just hangs up afterwards. How are they busy with other callers if no-one can get through?

That was pretty common for me. Don't dial back right away, Wait 5 minutes and try your luck once more. Sometimes i got lucky and got through on the second or third call. Sometimes i got through on the 10th call.

They are open from 8am 12 midnight Eastern time. I always had easier time getting through either really early or really late in the day. But maybe that was just luck.

    Eitherway just keep trying.

    When was your NOA2?

  4. Got our NVC case number today. I've called before and they've never asked me any personal questions about the petition. When the operator began asking me questions, I knew we had it ?. She was very friendly and helpful. I hope everyone gets there case numbers soon. I wish you luck in whatever phase you guys are in your journey.

    Congrats! :)

    When was your NOA2?

  5. Hmmmm.... our NOA2 was September 17th. I spoke to NVC tonight and they still haven't received it. 30 days now. Wah! Is it worth calling USCIS? What's the best approach?

Hello Heather&Kevin. I cant advise as to what the best approach is as we are in a similar boat, however I have read online that sometimes its good to get USCIS to find out where exactly your paperwork is. That way if it was sent elsewhere or misplaced by accident they can find it.

When I called USCIS earlier today they told me they cant look for my paperwork until 30 days after my NOA2, so we will have to wait a few more days.

In your case though, no harm in giving them a call. They phone queues are short and its worth a try to ask them I think.

  6. Congrats to everyone who recently got their NVC number!! ^_^

I've been reading from the shadows the last few days but I figured I would come out and say hi.

My fiancee's NOA2 was September 21st but up until today NVC says they havent received the paperwork yet. I called USCIS to check and verify they did send it to NVC or see where the paper is but they say they cant formally look into it until 30 days have passed :P.

Does anyone know of any "magic" words to use so that USCIS can look into it and see where the paperwork actually is?
