    Hi there,

is your I-751 jointly? If yes, why fear an interview? :)

I filed my I-751 and I didn't get an interview. I had a little less material than you.

The cover letter should be yours since you're the petitioner this time :)

    Good luck!

Thanks for answering! It's a joint application.

i know the processing can take more than a year now but I really need to have it asap coz traveling is my job. It'll just make a lot of unnecessary trouble for me to travel back to the states.

  2. Hi! It's my first making a post here. I'm currently preparing for my i-751 application and I will be a Sept filer. I didn't hire a lawyer this time as I did for my i-485. Compared with i-485, my materials this time make me worried that they may not be sufficient for USCIS to waive us an interview. The materials I am going submit are as follows.

    Copy of our marriage certificate
  Copy of USCIS Form I-551 (Permanent Resident Card)
Copies of joint checking account statements for August and July 2017
Copies of the joint tax return statements for 2015 and 2016
Copy of the latest joint car insurance declarations
Copy of beneficiary statement of US citizen partner's life insurance
  Copy of beneficiary statement of US citizen partner's 401(k) and saving programs
  Copy of my driver license
  Copy of my pay statements
Two sworn affidavits by a US citizen family member and friend.
Photographs taken from home with each other or friends.(Unlike last time, we don't even have many since neither of us likes to be photographed, especially those travel pics since we mostly just stay home and chill on our days off because my flight attendant job takes me away from home a lot. Just some casual home or dinner selfies and pics with friends. Not sure if it'll be taken into consideration) My partner and I both work for the same company now, will it be a plus?

Actually I worry most about lack of enough documents proving that we live together during these two years since my name is not on utility bills or home mortgage. My partner doesn't really want me to be too much financially tied to him in case of any accident that can drag me into a desperate situation, such as bankruptcy.  I hope this wouldn't raise a red flag to USCIS.

Also I have another question here. Is the cover letter supposed to be written by my partner as shown on a lot of samples? However, I am the petitioner as filled on the i-751 form. I am very confused here.

Thank you guys for taking your time reading this post! Any answer will be appreciated!

  3. Yeah, I am not too sure about the idea either. I would only put the PO Box address on the I-485 and our Dallas address on everything else. My lease is up the month he arrives so he needs to sign on there and I will include the lease and copy of drivers license and such.

But it seems that the biometric appointment could be given with two weeks advanced notice, so flying or driving would probably be expensive, inconvenient or both.

We are in a situation that we can wait a year (looks like it could be more than a year!), so I don't think I will do that.

Dang, though, I was thinking your date was before the date on the page so you could schedule an InfoPass meeting. It sounds really important in your situation!

Yea I think we should just stick with the current address.

I am considering InfoPass, but it requires at least 40 days before you schedule one. So I'll have to wait. Hopefully magic happens that my status will be updated next week.

  4. Wow. Seeing your experience makes me wonder if I should rent a PO Box in Houston or Harlingen. My mother owns land in Tucson and their case time frame seems to be shorter. Who knows, maybe when we get to the point of sending in our AOS, it may take so long, we get the unconditional GC! Why take a year to process them if they are going to issue another GC next year after you are married for two years?

Mm I am not sure if that would work. Because the local office may dig a little deeper to investigate by visiting your address, making phone calls with your connections and etc. If they find out that is not the city you live, they can be some trouble.

But it's true. i will be married for two year in next October.

  5. The USCIS charts just updated as of August 31st. Dallas is saying Form I-485 was processing October 18, 2014 -that's 10 months and 14 days.

Maybe it's close to being processed?

Hopefully. But according to the instruction on the website, it actually means completion of the case instead of processing. If the gap is about it, my case should at least be marked as "being reviewed or something".

  6. I am almost in exactly the same situation. I submitted late December, fingerprints Jan, received EAD in February, received NPIW March 21st, then absolutely nothing since then.... I'm over the 6 months and Still show fingerprint fee received.

Chicago field office shows processing 18th Nov 2014 as @ 31st July 2015.

You wouldn't wanna hear about Dallas. It shows 19th September 2014 as of 31st July 2015 (Plus it is mid-October now and the chart still hasn't been updated for the month)

But good for you having received a waiver. I can't expect that for my case.

  7. Gosh!

I'm going to follow this topic because I want to know about this too. I was reading on the USCIS Ombudsman stuff that Dallas is taking about 9.5 months to process AOS packages. Well, I just hope I can follow behind you soon! I think you need your GC though!

Are you able to proof financial hardship? Does that count as an expedite under the AOS process?

Did you submit not long after I did? I think CA is moving a lot faster than Dallas.

I was even expecting a 10-month gap between submission and completion. Obviously I was way too optimistic. I called my lawyer and she said it might take close to 12 months(in my opinion, she actually means at least 12 months) to schedule an interview. But it just has never moved. Of course I know my fingerprint fee was received otherwise how could I get my fingerprint done in Jan. It just makes me very anxious, given the situation of my job offer which I worry might be withdrawn at any moment.

Unfortunately(Well honestly i guess not) I can't proof any financial hardship since my partner is capable of supporting me, and it only works for EAD, not the interview.

  8. My case status is still shown as "Fingerprint fee was received". The case was received in mid-December last year.

I received my EAD and travel document in March this year, and then it just got stuck in there.

I sent an inquiry why it is taking so longer last month and it has not even been assigned.

Also checked the processing times of field offices. Dallas is basically the slowest, but I am not sure if that was the cause of my situation.

The job offer I received won't be effective until I obtain my green card since it requires a lot of international traveling.

Anybody shares the similar experience, especially those in Dallas too?
