You can contact USCIS/CBP or since you’re in the UK if possible fly through Dublin in Ireland where they have preclearance so you have peace of mind you won’t arrive at the USA airport and face a possible removal or complications. Just a suggestion

IMO if you do the ESTA application and you’re approved you’re good to go. Someone who voluntarily relinquished permanent resident status is low probability for having problems at port of entry.

    Good luck!

Thank you very much for your advice! Great idea about flying through Dublin for peace of mind!

If you are the “system” still as an LPR then my understanding is your ESTA application will be denied.  Otherwise you are good to go.  Do you have evidence you filed I-407? Do you still have the green card?

Thanks for your speedy reply! I think I took a photo of my I-407 before I mailed it and might be able to find post office tracking number but otherwise, no. I actually don't have my Green Card anymore. My removal of conditions was taking a very long time so I got an extension letter and when that ran out I got a stamp in my passport as proof of residency for a year. At the time of getting the stamp, they took my expired Green Card.

  3. Hi all,

I'll just get straight to the point! I moved back to the UK last year and submitted a form to abandon my permanent residency. As a side note, I was still awaiting the removal of my conditions on my residency at the time. My question is can I use an ESTA to visit my husband in the US for a holiday this year or do I have to wait until I get some kind of confirmation for my I-407?

Thank you and I appreciate your help! Have been trying to do some research on this but I'm feeling quite confused!

Hi Guys, hope everyone is well. We got a few hail drops and got a call not to go to work an hour before I was due but all was well on my side😊

Getting together for lunch sounds like a great idea💃💃 My schedule is pretty flexible. I am pretty free most Tuesday's and Thursday's. Also have no problems getting to downtown ATL.

    Awesome :).

It was the first time I'd heard the tornado sirens going, so that was an experience!!!

  5. Hey Georgia Ladies and Gents,

Was everyone all ok during the tornado warning/storm last week? Our power went out for 3 hours! But, we were otherwise ok. Just lots of rain and thunder.

Oh, hey. I was interested to know if any of y'all had ever thought about trying to meet up in Atlanta for lunch or something? ^_^. It'd be great to meet some fellow expats!

  6. Hi Alex,

I, too, worried about this when I saw my interview later. I got my sponsors to re-do the I-864s again as I wanted to make sure I had every document and copy possible! When I got to the embassy, they weren't requested. I think from other people I have spoken to they weren't asked for them again either. I don't want to say you definitely won't get asked for them but in my experience, I wasn't!

Jon had a successful POE on Feb 28th! We had a whirlwind first few days of errands and now it's just time for him to adjust.

We got a letter from the SSA yesterday that he should have his SSN in 2 weeks! One thing down!

Happy to hear of your successful POEs!

Almost been here 2 months now, can't believe how time has flown since I arrived! Got most things checked off the list now :).

Kat&Jon, I can imagine it's still probably warmer in Florida than here in Georgia, but Spring has definitely sprung here and the warmer days are coming in! I've already experienced 3 or 4 "British Summer Days" since being here haha .

Interview date April 5th! (CC February 16th, exactly two weeks ago).

We are just flying to meet each other today for a few days. Would she be okay to wait and call to schedule her Medical on March 13th when she is back in the UK? Or should she call while we are together in Ecuador before then to schedule?

Congrats on receiving your interview date!

I would say your s/o would need to book a week in advance for whatever date she wants her medical. They are usually pretty flexible though and you can get in fairly quickly. Just remember it takes about a week after the medical to process the results and send them on to the embassy.

Wonderful news! Wonder why mine is taking so long? Must be my 14-letter surname that is causing problems like it did at the bank. I was told it was too long for their debit cards.

Thank you! 14 letters!? Wow! My maiden name was 4 and my married name is 5. However, no one can seem to understand how they are spelled when I say either of them over the phone! I thought my troubles were over once I changed my name, but still the same haha.

Hey guys, quick update from us:

    Scan Date: 11/28

    Case Complete: 2/16 :)

Just waiting for an interview now. The lady on the phone today said that they aren't finished with March yet generally, but couldn't speak specifically about London embassy. Anyone know the most recent date given out? I thought I was already seeing late March dates last week so I'm expecting April and will just be surprised if it's still March.

What is the general turn around time for making a medical appointment when you call them? If you call on a Monday can you get it same week? Following week?

Congrats on receiving case complete - you're nearly there now!

I got CC on November 4th (2016) and got my P4 and interview date on 10th November. I managed to get a December interview which was quite lucky! It was December 19th. When I phoned to book my medical she told me to name a day that was good for me and she'd tell me if there were any available appointments. They didn't seem to be booked up or anything, so you'll probably be able to get one within a week!

Hey welcome to Georgia, you will realize that Georgia's weather is like Pre menstrual syndrome lol.

I been busy lately trying to figure out the taxes, last year we filed jointly but this year (a full year) seems like our taxes are quite high.

Chinese New year is coming, my husband is having a few days leave from work, we're thinking of some activities to do around Georgia since we're on budget. (im still trying to find job) I'm thinking of exploring Alpharetta and Lawrenceville area.

Vennie, Goldfinch, don't forget to buy health insurance since its the time of the year to purchase insurance again and its mandatory to get it. I got mine thru private since my husband's company do not allow me to be included cos they said its alot of hassle blah blah cos of my green card process so on BS.

    Thank you :)!

Thanks for the heads up. We are currently doing our health insurance at the moment!
