    Hey,

So I've had a similar experience. I am the U.S. citizen and my husband is a citizen of Russia. He had his interview back in April and was asked to provide some of my originals and a document he could not possibly obtained (without putting himself in danger by returning to Russia and us going broke by him flying all over the globe again). I've sent my originals by DHL, which was twice cheaper and twice faster than FedEx.

He brought documents along with his passport to the Embassy in person and dropped them off on May 1st. I believe his case is stuck in the administrative processing now, but it just says "Refused". So my hubby is stuck in Israel with the expired tourist visa, unable to extend it, because the U.S. embassy kept his passport. At least the bombing from Gaza has stopped.

You should be able to mail your originals to the embassy, the directions are at the same website where you schedule your visa interview appointment.

Hopefully it goes well for you!

Did he ever get to leave, why did they keep his passport? Just interested. And if you had to do it again would you have chosen a different country to interview in due to the price point of a stay in Jerusalem?
    thanks

The case will need to complete NVC review first before being queued for interview.  Have you paid the NVC fees, uploaded all the required documents, and received the Documentarily Qualified (DQ) email and CEAC inbox message?

I haven’t paid NVC fees yet, can I just create a login and pay them or do I need to wait for something? I got an I-797 document in the mail today.

  3. After receiving the notice of approval how long does it take to get an interview?

Case Was Sent To The Department Of State

On June 3, 2023, we sent your case, Receipt Number IOExxx, to the Department of State for visa processing. You can find general information on Consular Processing by visiting our website at www.uscis.gov . The website will provide information on what to do next, who to contact, and how to inform us of any changes in your situation or address.

i checked the USCIS website for processing times but wasn’t sure if it will actually spend 14-32 months at the state department processing.

We applied last June, 2022 us citizen bringing over mom from foreign country.

    thank you.

  4. Oh and the options I pressed to get a real person were 1 for english, 2 I believe for schedule and infopass appointment, then I think 1 and then it asks you for your zip code then it says if you'd like to be connected to a representative press something, then after waiting on hold for 30 minutes I was in-fact connected to a live person, at 8:14 PM (even though they close at 8:00 woo-hoo).

  5. Barry, this is a good question that I was actually wondering tonight myself. My husband's situation is a little different than yours. Filed I-751 July 23, 2018 got the letter stating case was processing. His green card expired the end of October 2018 and we needed to travel, so we called USCIS and was told that he should make an infopass appointment and get a stamp in his passport. Well my husband went down there, without me unfortunately because I had to work and they gave him the stamp. They also took his green card from him and told him, you won't be needing this, it's expired. We were both kind of frightened by that, but what can you do? And it was expired regardless so whatever, right? Well the I-551 stamp in his passport says it was only good thru 07/31/19, the person who stamped it literally crossed out the printed text that says "valid for 1 year" and wrote in a expiry date of 6 months? #######. So now we are traveling to Russia and need to be out of the country right in between the time the stamp expires. I called USCIS tonight, spoke to a person and she told me oh if you have the letter from USCIS and your expired green card it's no problem. I told her, lol they threw his green card out. She told me don't worry, come back in to an infopass appointment in July and get a new stamp. I said sorry we are extremely anxious people and that will not do, POSSIBLY getting a stamp a week before we leave the country... and months after purchasing extremely expensive plane tickets. So she said, no problem come in June if you'd like. So we will go in June for a new stamp. Thank god he can apply for citizenship in July and we will hopefully be done with this burden soon enough.

  6. Okay so I'm a little confused about my case. We filed I-765, I-131 and I-485.

I-765 & I-131 were last touched on 7/24/16 - 9 days after biometric appointment and still just has the message of:

"On June 16, 2016, we received your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization , Receipt Number MSC1691208232, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. "

While the I-485 was last touched 8/11/2016, with a message of:

"As of August 11, 2016, we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSC1691208230, for an interview. We will schedule your interview and send you a notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. "

Does this mean that the green card interview will be sometime soon? Still have not received the combo card in the mail, will that even come before the interview?

  7. Hi Shaii

I actually made a video of all of the things that I put in my husbands AOS package, but my camera died at the end of it so I just need to explain the last things that I have in the package, I'll try to upload it to youtube this week so that you can see exactly. It's really difficult, because I got conflicting answers from different sources as to what you need to include in the packet. Hopefully this will help you out. Di you already start filling out the paperwork?

Hi pochemuchka, I'm just gonna ask about the requirements needed for AOS. Me and my husband just got married last June 16,2016 and I dont have a lot of ideas about what are other files needed for applying AOS. I'm a K1 visa holder too just like you. Hope you can help me. Thank you.

  8. Hi everyone, I was wondering if the Moscow Embassy prefers for the US fiance to be at the interview? Of course I would love to be there but I'm not sure I can get time off work (and flights seem to be around $1000 after all the fees). I'm trying to save for our new life together but obviously that can only happen with the visa being approved so I was just looking for some input...Thank you in advance!

    Hi Laura,

I did it for my fiance, just to make him feel better and because it was around the holidays and I knew that it would be the last time I'd get to see his mom and family before he gets his greencard and we can go back next year. If I were you, I would try and save up for it. Just being there really shows how supportive of a fiancee you are, and I know it's expensive but lots of things worth while in life are! He's important to you, you should go. That's my opinion. Also by the time you go, it'll be nice weather and it'll really be a great time to go! Where's your fiance from?

  9. Hey April,

I guess it sounds a little strange about the interview, but I wouldn't be too worried about it, I think. During my interview I swear, I thought the consular officer said you'll receive your visa in 3 days to my fiance! Mind you, the entire interview was conducted in Russian, because I argued with my fiance that my Russian was good enough () to understand everything, in front of the officer  . So once we finished, I went ahead and said hehe thanks, but like... could I please have my tax documents back now? And he's all why? And I'm like, well I need file my taxes! So he reluctantly gave them back to me. A few days later when I was back in America I asked my fiance what he was so worried about and he told me that he hoped his visa would get approved. And I said what are you talking about?! And he informed me that the officer said NOTHING about getting the visa in 3 days  . Whoops. Well, regardless... the visa came in the mail in about 10 days. Baddabing baddaboom. No thanks to me :innocent:

  10. Those are entirely different processes that have different criteria. When you apply for a K-1 visa it's with the intent to immigrate and live in the United States with your new husband/wife.

Yes CR1 and K3 are different processes I hear ya, I just think that it is entirely possible to prove a bona fide marriage while living in different countries. And I got my answer to my hypothetical question. Thank you for your input.

  11. As already stated, you can't leave the country expecting to return with Advance Parole until the Advance Parole is approved. If you leave prior to receiving official AP, it will be assumed that residency was abandoned as the I-94 will show a departure prior to approval date and and you will need to secure another visa to return to the country.

    From USCIS Blog:

Can I travel outside of the U.S. when my application for advance parole is pending?

If you travel outside the United States while your Form I-485 application is pending and you do not have a valid advance parole, your case may be denied for abandonment. There is a narrow exception for individuals maintaining certain nonimmigrant statuses.

    http://blog.uscis.gov/2014/05/five-questions-about-advance-parole_9.html

Thank you for the response, I wasn't sure of this and that the I-94 would be affected. So thank you!

Yeah you should not leave the U.S. before getting approved for AP.

And even outside of that, I imagine that proving a bona fide marriage which you will need to do for AOS is going to be rather difficult if you aren't even in the same country..

How do people on CR-1 or K3 visas prove bona fide marraiges then?

  12. Forgive me if this question has been asked before, I couldn't find anything.

Let me know if this is a scenario that can be done:

Fiance comes here on K1 visa, you get married, your spouse leaves the U.S. and goes back to their country after you file for AOS and AP work authorization. They continue to work at their job in their home country. Once the AP and work authorization come in - they come back to America after quitting their job in their home country and get a job here. Is this possible? Thanks!

  13. Hold up did they just say that they show no evidence this woman showed up for her K1 Visa Interview. They show a no show and don't see where she was rescheduled.

Oh Boy can we say a major in house at the embassy scam here. We need to stay on this story cuz the world outside has no idea what this means.

You hear all the time the backroom payoff's and people paying "Extra" to get visas. Oh boy.

I know right! I heard this on the news too and was like, okay either the reports got this completely wrong, or she paid someone off! Now people think that you can get a K1 visa without an interview  if that were the case.. why am I spending a thousand dollars to go be with my fiance for his!! Now I feel tempted to read the Islamabad Embassy reviews... see if people said "Oh yeah, you don't even have to show up.." Not!! They are honestly probably so strict there. But I'm confused as to whether she had hers done in Pakistan or SA. And also its the fault of USCIS and NVC for not doing sufficient checks on her before even getting to the embassy...but how do you check for people who support terrorist groups in a background check? Maybe they'll need to start hiring P.I.'s for each applicant... this visa is gonna get expensive! hahaha

  14. Just want you to know that this global issue is not contain or related to arabic countries only.. for example the number of fighters from Russia specially from Chechnya who have joined this evil group has increased over 300% in past 12 months (after Tunisia and Saudi Arabia Russia is the third country in export of terrorist fighters to join this evil group) ... So if the US government decides to have more comprehensive background check, which I think they should do, it should be apply to everyone regardless of the country of origin...

Darn it.... you had to say Russia! :bonk:

Just kidding.. I already knew that about it being a large recruit country.... I just figured well... I don't know what I figured, haha I guess we will just find out at our interview next month if anything has changed at the embassy from what I have read on here!
