  1. I learned about requesting expedited processing over the phone, so I called and did that. My question is not about expedited processing however.

About an hour after I got my request, I got an email that said:

We have received your request to expedite the decision on your petition. Your case has already been reviewed by an adjudicating officer and a decision or notice of further action on your petition will be delivered to you within 45 days.

We hope this information is helpful to you.

So it seems someone has already made a decision but it will take 45 days to be notified? I was thinking when they make a decision they would notify right away?

Is there something I am missing, or misunderstanding?

    Thanks!

  2. Thanks! So I have another question.. I read on the forum here about asking for expedited processing. Anyone can ask, if you meet one of the criteria. We had a good case for financial hardship criteria, because if the process goes past December, we will lose our deposit for school for her three kids.

Anyway, they were helpful on the phone. Within an hour I got an email reply, here is the bottom line:

"Your case has already been reviewed by an adjudicating officer and a decision or notice of further action on your petition will be delivered to you within 45 days.

We hope this information is helpful to you."

Ok, does anyone have any j sight? THAT sounds good, some movement. But what confused me, I have studied the visa timeline and know how overworked they are and how slow each step can be, but I am kind of shocked that a decision or further action request has been decided, but it might take 45 days to notify us?!? Doesn't that seem weird?

    Thanks!

  3. Please forgive me if I should have found this answer somewhere else.

I have checked our status online, Received and Pending. So I started checking the numbers before our receipt number, which I learned how to do here. The number immediately before ours shows the same status. But the number before that one shows more evidence requested. And the one before that shows case approved!

So does that mean they are close to processing our application and moving to the next step? Or is there no rhyme or reason, cases not necessarily processed in order? I read somewhere that applications are put in a big box, taken off a shelf, and pulled from the box kind of randomly. So processed in somewhat but not precise numerical order.

Any insight? It seems hopeful and positive, that just 2 application numbers before ours they have had some action, and 3 numbers before ours they were approved.

    Thanks!
