Just call the USCIS Customer Service line (1-800-375-5283), give the officer your USCIS Case Number for your EAD application and request to submit an inquiry as you've passed day 75. If they say you can't, the USCIS processing times website tells you that you can, so you can quote it. They will likely give you an inquiry number and tell you they will contact you within 30 days. (Hopefully sooner!)

To get a human faster, select your language when prompted by the automated service then immediately dial "22624" and it will send you straight through to a person!

Thanks for the tip! Just submitted an inquiry and got a referral number! hopefully his gets things going!

Notice that interview scheduling, and EAD seems to differ according to the type of adjustment of status. F-1 should be the faster, K-1 should be the second fastest, and the longest to take are the ones filed in the Chicago Service Center, which by default processes the AOS from marriage to US citizens.

AOS from H1B (married to US citizen)
2/02/17    Packet (I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131) sent in the mail to Chicago Lockbox via USPS
    2/03/17    Packet arrives. NOA
2/10/17    Receipt notices in the mail
    2/17/17    Biometrics appointment notice
    2/28/17    Biometrics done

    No change in status yet.

Our dates are very similar to yours! Anxiously awaiting the EAD and AP. My wife is supposed to fly out to Canada in a month!

This might seem like a silly question, but does she need the AP when she leaves the States or only to arrive back? She leaves middle of May but isn't flying back to the US until middle of June for my sister's wedding.

  3. Hello,

After a trip to H&R Block where it seemed apparent the lady did not know what she was doing, I want to figure out how to just file myself for our first year. My spouse has income from Canada and was only in the US for the last week of 2016. What forms do I fill out for the foreign tax exclusion? Is it just 2555 and the letter to treat her as a resident for the full year?

    Thank you

  4. Hey all,

Hoping anyone with California/Riverside County experience can help me with any of the questions. My fiancé comes in on Christmas and we get married on the 30th. With the holidays on Sundays, the county offices are taking the Mondays off so I'm hoping to get through this process quickly and get our marriage certificate to start the AOS.

    1. Marriage License - Will her Canadian passport work as her ID, or do K-1 Visa holders have to be specific and show them that information?

    2. Marriage Certificate - Can this be picked up the same day of the wedding, and does it have to be by groom/bride/parents or could I have bridal party take care of it? Would love to knock it out before the offices close next Friday.

Think that's all. Good luck to everyone on their immigration adventures!

  5. Hey all,

Wanted to ask a quick question about the dates on some of my forms in my K-1 packet. We got engaged in October and I thought we were on the same page with out wedding date so I brought all the forms ready to sign for our K-1. We later discussed and pushed our date back a few months, so now I am waiting to file in January. Will it be a problem if our application and signed letters of intent all have an October date typed on it?

    Thanks

  6. Hello!

Last week my fiance and I completed theI-129f packet and got it ready to mail in, including signatures and dated forms as well as our passport like photos taken. I was going to wait to mail it in next week after payday thanks to the lovely $340 fee. I wasn't sure if there was any problems mailing in the packet with everything signed and dated two weeks prior.

Thanks! This website has been such a stress reliever as we start this journey!
