  1. Ours was k1 based too and we did not have to redo the medical. When did you have your medical/file for AOS?

We brought what the interview leter said to bring, byt she only asked for marriage certificate, evidence of relationship(any documents that have both of our names on it like bank, lease, and car/car insurance as well as medical insurance) and pictures. She also asked about how we met/how he proposed/why we decided to get married/ any trips we went on together

Thanks Man for your quick response.

I did my medical back home when I applied for the K1 visa. The date on the medical sealed envelope I got from them is 04/16/2015.

  2. I understand and feel your concern because my wife just went through this. We filed for her AOS on Sept, received her EAD Dec and since then not a word from from them. Then around end of May of this year her status change to Card Being Produced. We did make a call inquiry early May and complained that we haven't heard anything from them since Dec. So not sure calling made a difference but eventually she received her card without an interview or an PIW letter. Hopefully you'll hear from them soon. Good Luck

Thanks ameribrazil - I really hope the same happens with my case too :)

What was the status showing on USCIS for her? Was it "Case was Received" or "Fingerprint fee received"?

  3. We are on the same boat as you and I would guess a lot of people here too.

Status online still shows fingerprint fee received December.

We already filed a status request online, have you done yours ?

My case status doesn't even say Finger Print fee received, it just shows "On December 2, 2015, we received your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status". That's what is worrying me more, as they haven't even made a single update.

I just filed filed a status request last Friday, but it is not even assigned for processing yet :(

  4. Hi VJ Community,

I am posting this message hoping someone would be able to help me with my questions.

I filed for a I-485 and I-765 concurrently (K-1 Based) back in December 02, 2015 and received a Bio-Metric appointment fairly quickly. I also got my EAD in like 3 months of filing. However, my I-485 application is still with MSC and it looks like it hasn't even been touched by anyone, the status still says "Case was Received". I have heard that the applications that are processed by MSC itself receive a letter stating that they qualify for a "Potential Interview Waiver" but I have not even received that letter nor have my case been transferred to the local office.

Since I got my I-765, I decided to wait patiently, but I am now starting to worry, as most of the December filers have either received their GC or at least a waiver letter.

I would really appreciate if any of you can share their experience and guide me if there is anything I need to do from my end.

    Thanks!

  5. Thank you! InshaAllah, we will get approved soon. :)

I got this e-mail reply from them. Have you ever received this kind of reply? :innocent:

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Our records indicate that the visa application for this immigrant visa case is still pending under administrative processing. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to predict how long this processing may take. The wait could possibly be quite lengthy. However, please rest assured that as soon as this processing is finished, we will contact the applicant using the contact information he/she has provided on his/her application. Thank you for your kind understanding.

If the applicant has not heard from our office after six months, please contact our office again using the web-based email form available on the website of the American Embassy.

    Sincerely,

    Immigrant Visa Unit

    Consular Section, American Embassy

    Islamabad, Pakistan

Yes thats a standard reply that they always give.

  6. Yes these days the embassy is asking people to come in for new finger prints and oath. It is normal and doesn't mean they think your case is fraudulent.

Yes they may have made a typo send the DS-160 if it is the correct form. Ask them if you are approved and see what they say after you take the oath.

It's a big big relief to hear this.. Thanks a lot carolynhotstuff for your quick reply

  7. Hi,

I am in the same boat and wanted to see if anyone can help me with this situation.

I had my K1 visa interview on April 28th and the officer asked me a lot of questions, after all the questions he said your case seems ok, but I need some additional documents and gave me a 221(g) asking to submit my fiancee's divorce certificate and an explanation as to why the previous case was withdrawn.

Long story short, we submitted all the documents and received an email from them today to come to the embassy again for oath for ds-260 and finger printing .To make sure this is something that embassy normally requests, we asked a lawyer who we have been consulting on and off on our case to see what he thinks but the reply I got from him was shocking to say the least.

He said that this rarely happens, he has just seen this happen with cases where they sense some sort of fraud and asked me to be really careful with what I say when I am at the embassy as it could jeopardize a k2 visa that I might have to apply after this one is refused. As you can imagine this has become really worrying for me and I was hoping if anyone who has gone through this can guide me.

BTW I live in Karachi and the case is in Islamabad embassy.

I want to know if this really is something that they normally request? Or they just ask ppl to come and take another oath for cases they think are fraudulent? My case is completely genuine and I don't see any reason why they would think that way.

Also, I tried submitting DS260 as they asked on their email but it say that I cannot submit ds-260 because it is not applicable for K visas, do you think this was a typo from the embassy that instead of writing ds-160 they wrote DS260 by mistake.

I would really appreciate if anyone can help me with the above questions.. Thanks!
