No the lady at the first desk took it and sealed it in a transparent bag and stapled it to my appointment letter. So basically I have nothing to prove my status which is why I have to get the stamp in my passport. Thanks for your response.

Thank you for your replies. I have an appointment to get the extension in my passport. Has anybody else done an interview and the officer taken their expired green card? What do I do now if I want to file the N-400? Thanks so much for your help and support.

Hello everyone, new to the forum. Actually joined today. We sent in our I-751 and the date on it was 09/08/2014. Did the biometrics in October. Got a letter requesting more evidence. Sent in what we had and then received another letter to appear in person for an interview. We really have very little evidence and we explained that in the letter with the evidence that we had sent in. We did our interview 2 days ago and the io mainly focused on the fact that we have no joint account showing comingling of funds. She told us that she will make her decision between 30 and 60 days and we will receive it in the mail. My extension expires in 2 days, she took my expired green card and told me to make an appointment to get a new extension stamp. Just a bit worried about how all this will turn out. Any thoughts, ideas would be greatly appreciated.
