  1. We are in a similar situation. Interview for k1 was November 3 in Lagos. We were given a 221g for birth attestation and passport was dropped at DHL location as instructed by officer. After a little over a month, on Dec 8 we were notified that our petition was being sent back to the USCIS with intent to revoke. We just received an email March 18 saying that the USCIS had our petition and they are reviewing it. We aren’t sure the reasoning for this, we assume it was a combo of the timeframe in which we hadn’t seen each other due to Covid and that we were engaged at our first visit. We have since gotten married, and will be filing the CR1. I was advised to wait for the USCIS response so that we will know what the red flags are that caused this to make sure we overcome them with the CR1, but this entire process is confusing.

I was just reading about the new Trump Admin. travel ban on Nigeria and 5 other countries. My fiancé is Nigerian and we are hoping to marry late February. I can’t seem to find any clear information online about exactly which immigration visas will be barred. Does anyone have any better information on the situation? I’m trying not to panic but I don’t have much to hang on to. We are not engaged with a paper trail, we were planning to marry and then bring him here on a marriage visa. Now I’m afraid that will be barred from happening. Any help is appreciated.

I am in the same situation. My fiancé is in Nigeria and I just filed for him in December. I’m hoping this will work itself out but from what I’m reading the news isn’t good.

  3. Hi. I have a unique situation. I am a native to the USA. My ex husband is from Ghana. He came here on a B1/B2 visa and we met while living in the same area. We married in July of 2011 but the marriage didn't work out so we separated in 2013 and I filed for divorce and it was finalized in Nov of last year. His conditional green card expired in March and I'm not sure of his status as of now since we are divorced.

I am currently engaged to a man from Nigeria. We have been talking for some time and I visited for two weeks in May. I plan to visit again first of 2016 and then file for his K1. However, I'm not sure of the status of my ex husband will affect our K1 visa. Does anyone know if it will matter?
