So... had a nice surprise today. I went in for my interview at 11:15am and came out of the Dept of Homeland Security Building a US citizen by 2:30pm. =)

Got there 30 minutes earlier, appointment was 11:15am. There were about 20 people ahead of me so this was so far the longest wait I've had at this office. Officer called me by name, he was very nice. He even apologized twice saying he did not want to be rude, he just wanted to rush through the interview so that he could add me to the oath ceremony that same day! And I just smiled and said it's totally fine! My husband went with me even though we knew he would just be waiting, but he wanted to be fully supportive. So this way, he had to ditch work for only one day. Worked out perfectly!

We went through all of the n400 but blitzed through it: names, addresses, travels, children, organizations you belong to, and all the additional questions in the form. Then he asked me to read "Who is the first US president" and write "George Washington is the first US president." Questions were:

1. Name one of the wars the US fought in the 1900s.

2. Who is the Chief Justice

3. Who is the father of the country

4. How many House of Representatives are there

5. How often do we elect House of Representatives

6. Hmm... can't recall the 6th question.

Then he ask me to sign and said he's adding me to the oath scheduled at 1:15, stamped my file approved and he added it to a huge stack of applications he had with him which were also going for the same day oath. He even suggested that we can go out and have lunch first since it was still early, but make sure that we're back and through security by 1:15.

Hubby and I did just that. Looked for the nearest burger chain (another couple who were at the oath ceremony were also there eating) and were back by 1pm. By 1:15 they started to issue out instructions. Guests were to go directly to the auditorium and wait. Applicants were to wait so they can show their form, surrender their green cards, be assigned an auditorium seat and receive their welcome packet. There were 90 people from 37 countries who became new citizens with me. It was a short affair with video montage, oath, pledge, speeches and photo ops.

By 2:30 we were done. The immigration officials stayed for questions and photo ops.

Today I became a US citizen my process is finally over (but now I start the green card process for my mom!).

So, for all those on the edges of your seat - I did find my interview letter. It had fallen down the back of the drawers. And although I had looked there, I hadn't looked with a flashlight. I got my husband to help me move it out, and there it was. Now all I have to do is print all my tax returns and I'm ready for tomorrow!

Hubby's interview is at 11:00 am tomorrow. The end of the road is in sight! Can't believe we are almost finished with this process. Praying that all goes smooth tomorrow.

I Passed my test! IO said wait for 4 weeks to get information about oath ceremony. She said she gotta wait for background check done before make a decision. So on my N-652 form she crossed the box that says "you passed the tests of English and U.S history and goverment. Also she crossed the box that says " A decision cannot yet be made about your application" before I left her room she made me to check a paper stated my name, my date of birth, sex etc. for the certificate.

So, the question that I've been asked:

- how many amendments does the constitution have?

- name 1 branch or part of the government

- what is the highest court in the U.S?

- what group of people was taken to America and sold as slaves?

- why did the colonists fight the British?

- what territory did the U.S buy from France in 1803?

She made me write "Citizens can vote" can't remember what was the sentence that I had to read.

Got my letter today! The notice date is June 24 - is that what we write on Int Ltr line or when we received it? Putting down notice date for now. Interview on Aug 1!

Just got an text update from the tracker - said they've scheduled me for an interview so I guess I just need for the actual letter to arrive.

Unless your application gets stuck in namecheck, you should see an in-line for interview status on 6/27/2016.

Huh... just read this. I know every advice and even timeline info should be taken with a grain of salt, but it is quite comforting. I am always afraid of mail getting lost in that big void of "nothing" in between steps. But having a basic guideline (ex the GC date) is very helpful.

Hopefully we will get some people "In Line" today.

Was hoping I'd get good news in the mail but no luck. Waiting sucks! Now I'm getting worried that their question about my name is delaying my application. =(

Wow, just saw the new formatted tables! So clean and easy to ready. Thanks to the people who dedicated time for it! Happy week everyone, hope we get more updates in =)

All done with biometrics today! Yiipee! It was fast, got there at a couple of minutes before 10 - my appointment time at the WA Seattle Homeland Security Office. Spent five minutes with security - forgot about the TSA-like procedures and had to remove my belt and shoes and put them back on again! Despite that, I think I spent more time walking from the parking to the building than going through security! The guards were all cheerful and joking around with people coming in. Practically no lines! Last time I was there, there was a short line which I already thought very efficient, but this time it was even less! There were also lots of clear signs on which way you're supposed to go -- walk ins, biometrics with appointment, interview. We had to fill up an Application Information worksheet which was attached to the Biometrics Appointment letter.

The officer was very nice but because I applied for my naturalization with my new name (using husband's surname) she wanted to confirm it -- she highlighted "name" on a form she had with her and got on the phone. She asked me if I brought my marriage certificate or my husband along - I didn't have both with me but turns out, it was not a big issue. I was just asked to wait till another officer verified my info. There was only one other person ahead of me waiting for verification, which was also the person ahead of me in the line. I don't think I spent more than 10 minutes waiting for both theirs and my verification to be done. The officer only asked if that's how I wanted my name written and he signed, stamped it and gave me a number for the biometrics. There were four ahead of me which went quickly enough. I was done and out by 10:40.

Another step done. Getting nearer!

Can confirm, case updates on Uscis.gov don't seem to happen at the biometrics stage. Janna just completed her biometrics today and the case is still stuck on "Case was received."

Should see some movement once NBC forwards packet to our local office.

Also, you can get free study materials and a DVD to help you prepare for the interview. If you're not offered, just ask for it.

Yeah, I was thinking of asking for the booklet. There are review materials online but I still find reading on actual paper better. =D

Whew! I was getting worried, seeing the biometric appointments being posted and not seeing any movement on mine. The usual butterflies. But it seems I'm right along with the flow. Got the letter in the mail today, no text or email updates either.

Hello All,

Just a general question. My early filing date is April 25 2016. If i mail my packet tomorrow, it'll reach on April 25th Monday. What is y'all opinion about getting it accepted by Tx lock box right on the date of eligibility? Or should I wait till Monday the 25th to mail the package?

My earliest filing date was the 13th, mailed it two days before and it got there on the 13th. Fees got cashed on the 16th. I have also since received my email notice of acceptance but no actual letter in the mail yet. So seems to have been fine to be on the dot. I submitted in Phoenix.

I guess I'm an April filer now. I originally sent my return on March 29th and it was received on April 1st. Never got a response or notification. I got the check back in the mail on April 11th. No explanation as to why it was sent back. It was filled out correctly. I'm assuming it was sent back because it had only my husband's name was on the check. I called them and the only thing they could tell me was to resend the package. So I mailed it on April 13th and it was picked up on April 16th. Hopefully all goes well with this one. Used a money order with this one.

Got my receipt notice in my inbox yesterday, and the green signature card back in the mailbox! Waiting for the actual form now in the mail. =D

I was really confused by the USPS updates I received. My package was supposed to be delivered on the 13th, then yesterday I got an update that it was delayed and it left Phoenix (uh... why?). Today I got the update that it's back in Seattle . I never really got an update that it was delivered. But, I am I assuming it got delivered as expected on the 13th and the delay in delivery, as well as what is in Seattle right now is the green signature confirmation card. Because when I checked today, my card was charged! Wohoo. So satisfying to see movement.

Updated my details, I hope I'm filling it up right.

Sigh. Last time I checked on the 13th, my packet was at the USPS facility in Phoenix with expected delivery date of the 13th. The updates I've been receiving today said it now is delayed and that it just left the USPS facility today.

Now first, 'Hi' everyone. Hopefully it'll be a fast and smooth ride for all of us.

I sent my application out on 4/1, delivered 4/4 in Lewisville, TX. My CC got charged 4/12. My field office will be Fairfax County, VA. I have my GC since 3/2006. I have not received my NoA as of yet.

Now, after introducing myself, I have a question for you all. I filed upon marriage, even though I know I could have done the 5 year app too. I send lots of supporting paperwork with the application, but I did not send tax returns or transcripts as supporting documents because the instructions stated 'OR' not 'and'.

Am I assuming correctly, that they still accepted the application nevertheless because my CC got charged? And how high is the risk of delay now because they'll request the transcripts as additional evidence? I mean, as far as I can read, it is recommended, but not required.

(...and no, I am not a tax cheat. Always paid my dues and filed our joint returns on time)

Hi there! I'm with April filers

Definitely not an authority here, but in the removal for conditions, it seems like it was also an OR for supporting docs. I sent a lot of docs but not the IRS return transcripts - simply because I did not know how to get them at the time. I did send Tax info, the two pages or so that we have on record for each year, and I got an RFE.

After seeking help with VisaJourneyers on how to get transcripts (my hubby, the USC also did not know about the return transcripts, he thought the tax info we sent were enough), I got them, sent my RFE packet and it went through fast. Had my approval in a few days of them receiving my packet. My takeaway there was the return transcripts are super important, more so than the other docs. So this time, for N-400, I got the transcripts first and will just be brining the other OR options during the interview. Absolutely not sure if that will work. Just sharing. But since it is an OR list, let's hope they don't send you an RFE and just let things go smoothly =D
