  1. Fiance's interview went well on Thursday. He was told it would take 2-5 business days to verify his paperwork and my finances before they could print his visa (so, technically great news) HOWEVER, the consular services section of the embassy was closed today due to a "consular systems upgrade" and was closed to the public. Monday is columbus day, Wednesday and Thursday are Islamic New Year and they'll have Friday off because, it's Tunisia...............sooooooooooooo this coming Tuesday is business day 2....then the following week is probably when things will happen. SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!

  2. So in the last few days there has been A LOT of communication between me, the NVC, the Tunisian Embassy's Consul General and Ambassador - personally!

AND IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!! His appointment is NEXT WEEK!! He couldn't get his medical done without the NOA4 letter, but now that we have it, that's all that's left. And, God willing, he will be approved and we'll finally be together again! (Just in time to watch the new season of 90 Day fiance...lol)

Please send all your good vibes!

  3. Absolutely!

Not sure if you read through all the posts in this thread, but basically it took the Paris embassy 2 months to give us an interview date because they kept claiming stuff was wrong or missing and there was nothing anyone could do. We called and e-mailed every point of contact they had non-stop, even went in person and bothered the security guards, till we got our date. When we came in for our interview, the staff all recognized us by our names and made us promise to stop calling and e-mailing if they give us the visa. Haha!

Anyway, the point is keep doing what you're doing. No matter how much they try to shoo you away, keep pushing forward till you get what you need. We'll be rooting for you. :)

I wonder if the embassy is subscribed to this thread...within minutes of my last post, I got a personal email from the Consul of the Embassy. He provided me with his direct email address, extension AND mobile number!!!!! God is good! He asked for the best times to call me to discuss ou case, and says that the paperwork is NOT there :( that he had looked for it personally.

Who do I believe? I've asked both the Consul and the NVC if I should email a scanned copy of my I-129F packet plus the NOA1&2. NVC says not to......haven't heard from the Consul on that yet.... :help:

  4. So, turns out that the US Embassy in Tunisia is claiming they haven't received the electronic file from NVC (untrue, because I've been calling NVC every week and everything stateside is in order) which is what has been holding our case up.

I called NVC again to tell them the new situation (my state reps have also contacted NVC on my behalf, already!) And the supervisor didn't even need my case number-she knew my case and was irritated herself with the embassy in Tunis. She said she'd be handling it personally. We shall see.

Squeaky wheels get oil, but do they get visas?

  5. What a headache! Sounds like though you are moving forward with your case, keep being persistent. I might consider contacting your state's US Senator to contact the Embassy on your behalf. Maybe the Senator would get results if they continue to give you the run around for getting your interview date. I hope things move quickly fYes,

Excellent tip - I've written my city councilman as well as both senators. Let's just hope their feet don't drag as slowly!! >_<

  6. Hello fellow April filers!! I am very new to the site and just now found this great thread!

Well, our story is both the same and different from all of yours. I (female petitioner) was living and working in Tunisia with my fiance for two years prior to ISIS attacking the Bardo museum in March of this year. That attack changed everything. We were saving up for a big, fancy Tunisian wedding. Instead, my bank account was froze as the Tunisian government feared a mass exodus of foreigners would cripple their economy. My parents used extreme force in flying me back to the states, and I decided that I had to bring my fiance asap. I sent off my heavily front-loaded application on April 20th. We got our NOA1 on April 23rd, and NOA2 on June 4th.

As soon as I arrived on US soil, I dedicated my life to two things. Getting a job and securing that K1. I guess I was a bit naive to think the first task would be a piece of cake. It wasn't until mid-July that I started my current PART-TIME job. I had/have so much separation anxiety, post-traumatic stress from being uprooted from the life we were in the middle of making, added fear from the second ISIS attack in June just 2 blocks from our Tunisian apartment...and then now this, unemployable for the first time in my life. Well, luckily my hours are enough to just slightly pass the 125% income mark, so I'm hoping this will not be a deciding factor. I still dedicate about an hour of my day to the visa process and another hour or two to finding more lucrative work. After my daily Viber calls to the fiance, there's just barely enough time for sleep. I'm a wreck. Really.

Anyway, because of the obvious mess, I wasn't as diligent at getting on the NVC about my case...I called sometime after receiving the NOA2 and FOOLISHLY believed the guy who told me to wait 45 business days to contact them again. I could have really used all your help then. HOW I believed that this process could have been self-managing is beyond me. During this time my fiance gets all of his docs/paperwork together. So finally on August 6th I called, received my case number, was told I would receive confirmation of the conversation we had in the mail and I should be receiving packet 3 very soon. Wow, that's great, I thought. So I do nothing for a week or so and then the letter gets to me with instructions to fill out the DS-160 AND that I could have been checking my status all along on the CEAC website....(in transit) Could he not have told me that on the phone? Whatever. I tell my fiance that we have to set a skype date and do everything together because it all must be EXACTLY the same as the I-129F. We submit, we print out, he goes to pay (in Tunisia you have to pay cash at the post office and they transfer the funds to the embassy), and the payment never shows up as posted. We called, we emailed....nothing for almost a week. The embassy doesnt actually have any internal phone numbers available to the public. We are going through switchboards and speaking with operators on a third continent someplace....and they are always sorry but they cannot do anything to help at this time. We must wait for written correspondence. I keep calling them and finally the payment shows up. But, hahahaha, your K1 visa appointment must be made in writing, not online. Keep waiting for written correspondence.

Last week I call the NVC again. I demanded to know when my case actually left the NVC for Tunisia.....July 23rd they tell me. It was now mid-September! Where is it? I escalate the case to inquire if my case had, in fact, been received - called every day until I get an answer. YES. It was received August 11th. So, I ask, what's the hold up? But we all know that it is out of the NVCs hands at this point. I ask if the NVC could confirm they had sent the electronic files as well - so thats where we are at now. Waiting on an email when, really, all we want is an interview date.

They have a major local holiday so there will be NOTHING happening until at least Tuesday....and just to put the cherry on top, the US Abassador to Tunisia's term is coming to an end this month, so all of the letters I mailed to him will most likely go unread.

If you've made it this far, you're a saint. My friends and family are sympathetic to our situation. They see I am physically unhappy, but have no way to support me during this process. I hope some of you can. Thanks for reading! :clock:

  7. Perhaps yours but not system wide. Mine is still reporting 'ready' which is all its ever done except the dates change every now and then.

    hang in there!

I think they are in fact having issues with the site. I can't even get access to the front page due to "server problems". Perhaps they're fixing it right now, and that's why it's completely shut down. I guess. Hopefully it's up and running again tomorrow. I'm dying to check my visa status as well...

Frustrating issue, but SO HAPPY to hear it's not just me. Was a bit scared that I had been TOO SQUEAKY of a wheel and they were punishing me.

    GOOD LUCK TO US ALL!!!!!

  8. So, our case has shown "In Transit" on the CEAC site since July 23, 2015......I've been calling, writing, and complaining like mad since about mid-August (a week or so after we filed and paid for our DS160.)

Today, I wake up, check my status like every other day, and in red letters get this message instead of the pop-up box:

" Your search did not return any data."

    WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This better be a glitch. Anyone else experiencing this?

  9. What's your source?

I, obviously, didnt originally post this, but as it applies to my situation as well, I took a look:

    http://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/coming-to-france/getting-a-visa/article/what-type-of-visa-do-i-need-to

Seems as if the second case would be where our partners lie, and Tunisia is not listed as needing an ATV (airport transit visa)

Also, this applies to Nigerians, but, probably to Tunisians as well:

  10. Hehe :)

I literally have no clue what you're talking about!! Lol can you give more details? CGI #? Post office? What? Lol

The visa application fee is paid through the post office in Tunisia - applicants pay cash, post wires the funds to the embassy.

The CGI # is one of many numbers on the receipt the post office gives you after you have paid. You're supposed to then use THAT number, log back in to the website to schedule your visa appointment.

Did your fiance do all of this? Or were you able to just call the number listed and get the appointment that way?

It's been nearly 5 months since I have been able to hold my fiance, and a little over 4 months since I first filed anything - I'm just SO ready for it all to be over. We had lived together in Tunisia for over two years before we started this process....

  11. Ohhh, I hope that is the case for you!! I've been lurking a bit the last few days and familiarized myself with your story @shauna&wael - my fiance just paid at the post office and i was looking for information as to which number on the new poste tunisienne form is the CGI # that I have to enter???
