Here is a great book if your fiancee is from a Russian speaking country. It's over 1,000 pages and it written in English AND Russian and goes over everything anyone would need to know to survive here. From credit cards, to weddings, to getting a college degree
It was written by two Russians that moved here many years ago and how to view America thru their eyes - and not an Americans.
Welcome to America: The Complete Guide for Immigrants. (Hardcover)

We almost had the same issue with our police reports at her interview on Tuesday. The report was in her old married name and not her maiden name. They still gave her the stamp and paperwork - but they will not send the packet until she has a new police report sent to the embassy.
-
Also met before March 6th and checked yes to MB.
No problems at the interview and passed on Halloween day - how spooky
Nobody dressed up at the embassy for the holiday - how boring
-
Woot - Congrats
-
Yeah keep the love flowing for everyone else
Everyone needs an approval tonight !!

I had to have my daughter check my approval but it was indeed true tonight - finally

For the stats I put that I used a "MBA" before the 3/6/06 cutoff and was a NSC transfer.
Now onto the next phase.
Good luck to all - there is not enough vodka or tissue boxes to handle all this stress

I just got off the phone with Senator Levin's office again. The office did confirm that from what they were told.........NO2s are being processed in order the RFEs have been coming back. It sounds like they are so slammed at CSC that they just want to get them completed.
As she points out that is assuming that there are absolutely no problems with your case. Any additional background checks, IMBRA issues, etc.
She also said that she knows for a fact that CSC is processing cases right now. We just cannot see them at our website and these are people that she has been talking to in her district.

Has anyone else seen this while checking your status?
USCIS Director Gonzalez to Participate in "Ask the White House"
On Monday, July 24, USCIS Director Emilio T. Gonzalez will be featured on Ask the White House, an online, live interactive forum. You may submit questions for Director Gonzalez in advance at the White House website.
Here is your chance to flood their forum with questions. I posted one question and I did not see a limit.
So fire away with the questions on the website
Pets as hand baggage?
in Moving to the US and Your New Life In America

I just booked my fiancee and her dog on an Aerosvit flight from Kiev to NYC. It was only $100 and yes you can bring them on board. They also said that each airline has it's own rules regarding the number of pets on the airplane. For mine - they only allow one dog per plane - good thing I booked her ticket a month in advance
There are also size limits and they need to be under a certain size.
The airline made it very clear that they did not have an issue with the size of the carrier. Only as long as it would fit under the seat. However, they did say that as soon as you arrive in the US you will now be under the jurisdiction of various animal cruelty laws. If your carrier is not an approved one then you may be busted.
Since they do not sell FAA approved carriers in Ukraine I had to buy her one here and mail it to her. The postage for the soft carrier was almost as much as the carrier itself.
I just got an answer from the government yesterday regarding this so I will share with everyone her responses.
