  1. chuckandkim, i called several civil doctors, some said i need to redo the whole exam because the exam was done in vietnam, the cost for the exam ranging from $350 to $490. Other doctors charge $130 to $170 to complete the vacinnationm (td and chickenpox). Does my fiancee need to redo the exam or only need to complete the vacinnation?

    Justin,

If you're in the Greater Philadelphia area, PM me, I have a cheap easy Civil Surgeon contact: will do your Vac-Sup for $10 :)

As jasman mentioned, the cost of this VAC-Sup is vary from doctor to doctor, some will charge you $600, or mine would charge $10. If your wife needs any additional shots on the list of required vaccinations, those can be done at your family doctor. Just make sure the family doctor gives you receipt where it shows he did the shots for her. Attach those with your VAC record from Vietnam and the civil surgeon should be able to issue a VAC-SUP for your AOS. Keep in mind, call around and check this list of available in your area. Price varies greatly!

  2. in the letter, i mentioned that i ll be there with her for the interview, and i was actually standing outside the building during the interview. however, i have no idea whether my presence helped my case or not.

Thanks for sharing Justin and congradulations to you both.

    On this question-

    "Is your fiance here now?"

Were you actually present and will that help with approval?

  3. sup guys, sorry for disappearing, but i've so busy for the last couple wks, i have some free time today so i thought i will write up a sumary of the interview.

my finacee arrived at the embassy around 7:30, as she handed the female guard the appointment letter, this female guard yelled at her, "why didn't you unfold the letter". As you all know, giving these people a little authority, they become the biggest #######. Anyway, she proceeded to the window and handed in the documents and were told to take a seat. As she waited, she saw lots of blue slips, about 17 out of 20 got the blue. Her name was called and she was interviewed by a female CO. And these was asked...

How long have you two met?

How long have you known each other?

how many times did your fiance visited you?

    who pays for his trips?

    Is your fiance here now?

how did your fiance got laidoff?

That was all i can remember, but the interview went very smooth. She got the pink slip and was tlod to come back tomorrow to pick up her visa.

Here is an important tip that i like to pass on to the newbies. I am self-employed and my income barely make the requirement. What i did was wrote a half a page letter for my fiancee to bring to the interview. In the letter i explained why my fiancee won't be a public charge by laying down all the plans we will take to avoid public charge. Why do i think an my letter importantin my case? because out of a 3-inch thick stack, this letter was one of a few pieces of documents that the CO actually kept, the rest was returned to my fiancee.

yea, my fiancee arrived here on sept 18,

  4. i told my fiancee to call them if she could pick up p4, but she was hesitated to call because the woman who answered the phone was rude. Last time she called to ask about p4, the woman said with a raised tone, "just wait for it in the mail and STOP calling..." it's not like my fiancee call them 5 times a day or something, in fact it was the first time she call to ask about p4. these vietnamese staffs are out of control.

  5. I have a couple of unsigned copies of previous years tax returns. Obviously i need to sign those copies before handing them to the CO, my question is, should I date them the day i filed those tax returns or the day i sign them? i know this is a silly question, but these litlle things bother me,

  6. thanks STL_HCMC, eventually i will figure out how to put these thing together neatly, i hope

did any1 ever wrote an explaination letter for ur fiancee to bring to the CO during her interview, if so, how long was the letter and did the CO even read it? thanks.....

  7. guys, i am trying to put together all the docs for the interview. How did you organize ur docs? Did you put evrything in a binder? When you were called to the window, did you give the vietnamese staff the whole binder or only pulled out whatever she asked for?

  8. the poverty guide line is based on the Total Income (line 22 on Form 1040) or Adjusted Gross Income (line 37)??? My adjusted gross income is signifficantly less than the Total Income, if they use adjusted gross income as a benchmark, i am screwed
