Hi good day I hope someone can help me out with my question
Can I apply for a tourist visa while I have an ongoing family based petition? YES
If yes. How will it affect the latter? NOTHING, just do not overstay your visit if you are granted a B1/B2 visa.
Will it be canceled in the case I got approved? NO
Thanks in advance
Thank you so much. So generally speaking other visa will not affect my family based petition? Let's say an employment type vs family based. I have intention of practicing my medicine degree in the US but being held back because my family have a notion that it will be affected by other visa.

Let's not hijack other's threads. You may start your own in the future.
You may always apply. Valid reason to go to the US is irrelevant. Everyone has a valid reason. Your ties to PI will matter the most.
Any follow up questions, please start a new thread
good luck
thanks for the response I just thought this post talks about "tourist visa" that's why I've added a post. but I appreciate your advice. have a great day ahead

hi I have a question if im about to take USMLE step 2 in the US soon (this is an exam for physicians only offered in the united states) but I have a family based petition from my mom on process. Can I apply for a tourist visa? what are my chances of getting one if I have a valid reason of entering US, and in case I got approved what will be the status of my family based petition? thanks in advance.

Thanks for your response guys I have another question though we have been together for quite sometime now but never had a chance to meet up due to our busy schedules, I'm just wondering coz it states in the requirement that you need to meet your fiancé within the last two years

Thank youNot personally but I know many that happens with, you would end up with k1 probably because it is faster.

Do you have the same case? My partner don't want to ruin my chance of getting to US that's why he's afraid to apply for K1No it is fine that you have 2 petitions for you. The will not harm each other as long as there are no lies on either of them

Hi is the anyone in here who has the same case as I do? My parents filed a petition for me and my sister last 2012 and now I have a partner from the US who would like to apply a K1 visa for me.
My question is how will it affect my F2B application and my chances for being approved under K1? thanks in advance
