  1. My wife just received her green card, FINALLY, and her name is wrong.

    It's supposed to be...

    First Name: Jessica

    Middle Name: Mae Metcalf

    Last Name: Klein

but they put on her card...

    First Name: Jessica

    Middle Name: Mae

    Last Name: Metcalf Klein

We double checked that we did it correctly on her Form I-485 so the error is on USCIS.

What do we do?? All I've seen is that we can do a Form I-90 which is costly and takes months! That is an awful alternatively seeing as we thought we were finally done with this process until she has to apply for removal of conditions.

Can't get an info pass appointment at USCIS, ever, because we live in Los Angeles and it's basically booked forever. We are thinking of going in early one morning (one field office does 7am visits without appts once a week)

    Any advice?

    Thanks!

    Thanks!

  2. Hi there,

My wife and I got married on March 5th, so next up is the AOS process. We are based in Los Angeles, CA

I am on my parent's health insurance til I turn 26 in June, and am a freelancer that can get discounted healthcare for myself and wife through Cast and Crew Open Health once I turn 26.

Any recommendations on a plan to get for my wife until then? And is she eligible for plans in the Covered California/Obamacare marketplace?

Do you know if she can get a good short term plan and then be eligible to switch to mine in June?

    Thanks!

    -Sam

  3. Thanks Baron, which plan did you go with and how much did it cost you per month? They seem affordable in my initial inquiry

  4. Hi there,

My fiancee is moving from the UK to California and we are trying to figure out the best healthcare situation for her. I don't get healthcare from work so I won't be adding her to my policy once we are married.

I've read a little about IMG Patriot America health care, does anyone have any experience with them?

Probably gonna get her some sorta 6 month plan til she finds a job with benefits or we just get a combined pay-out-of-pocket plan

    Thanks!

  5. Regarding the London Embassy...

Does anyone know how you request your K1 Visa Interview date be expedited so that you can have it sooner?

Our wedding is set for March 5th and we just submitted packet 3. We put that date in our readiness form. At this rate, the worst case scenario is she has her interview at the end of January (given the holidays coming up) and then gets here in early Feb, but that would suck, since she wants to have a little time to adjust to America and help plan details of the wedding. Not just show up and instantly get married within a few weeks.

Anyone have success with getting a quicker interview date? And how did you go about requesting it?

I've also heard if you ask for a quicker interview date and get denied, it can delay things, any truth in that?

I know it's not a real emergency by any means so I'm not sure if it's even appropriate to ask for a quicker interview date anyway.

  6. Hi there,

So my fiancee has sent back Packet 3 (completed Form DS-160, scheduled a medical, sent out Notification of Readiness) but she is moving back to her parents house.

I can't find any concrete information on how she can change her address? Is there ONE place that she should email or a form she needs to fill out?

This is with the Embassy in London regarding a K1 Fiance visa. Only reason it really matters is that they send her interview appointment and then her visa/passport via mail.

Also, will this at all slow down the process of her getting an interview date?

    Thanks!
