I am going to be a co-sponser in a Affidavit of Support for my best friend.
But I am currently married which is no big deal. But since i have to show my taxes, i was thinking about filing seperate to make it simple cause i am the co-sponser, not my husband.
Is it better to file seperate? Or if I file a joint tax with my husband, will i have to put that info on the forms as well?
Thanks to you all!!!
Cheers,
Jennifer

Hello all!
I've filled out the Form I-751, send off my money and proof of my legit marriage, but I got the I-797 Notice of Action letter instead.
What is this? Am I approved? Am I denied? What does this mean?
Thanks for your help!

If applying for I-751 while out of the country you go to the US consulate or embassy, they will have the FD cards there, and they will do the fingerprinting there.
ha ha ha, i'm such an #######! I can't believe how i missed a bit above the text saying "if you reside overseas". How on earth did I ever get my husband this far???
Thanks!!!

I am looking into moving the conditions of my husbands green card using the I-751
But in the forms it states that I need:
2. Two completed fingerprint cards (Form FD-258) for applicants and dependents between the ages of 14 and 79. You must indicate your Alien Registration Number (A#) on the fingerprint card and ensure that the completed cards are not bent, folded, or creased. The fingerprint cards must be prepared by a U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate, USCIS Office, or U.S. Military Installation.
Where Do I get a FD-258????? We live in miami. Does anyone know how to get this????
Thanks.

It's time for my husband to fill out his I-751 to remove the conditions of his green card. But in the instructions it mentions how he needs :
2. Two completed fingerprint cards (Form FD-258) for applicants and dependents between the ages of 14 and 79. You must indicate your Alien Registration Number (A#) on the fingerprint card and ensure that the completed cards are not bent, folded, or creased. Ahhh, where do I find a us military installtion???? Do I have him just take a few days off work and camp outside a us embassy in hopes he will know exactly what to do?? They offer no real information of this form he needs. How much? How long it takes to get?
He gave them fingerprints on the first forms, why do they need it again.
We live in miami/fort lauderdale area. Does anyone know where we need to go to get this??
Thank you!!!!

I moved to the USA with my british husband 8 months ago. Since i've lived in teh UK for 10 years, I had to have a co-sponser.
My sister's husband is my cosponser.
Last month I found out that my sister has stolen my identity to get loans and credit cards out in my name. And her husband threatened my husbands visa.
We both have good jobs, we're well above poverty. We don't even need a co-sponser now. What would happen if they try to mess up his visa. Can they even do that???
If they say they lied on the forms, wouldn't my sisters husband go to jail?
all this time, I never knew my family were white trash con artists.
Should have stayed in the UK with my mates!!
Cheers,
Jennifer

Ps. don't be too harsh on him, it does happen all the time!
Don't be too harsh on him.... we're moving to Miami. He can stay here and be lonly in the rain. i'll sit myself on a beach and wait for him. he he he. What a blonde!!!! We're supposed to fly out hte week after next. Stupid blonde.

After all the ####### i've gone through trying to get my husband into the states so I can live in a country where I can have a decent way of life. Where we can have a decent way of life.
FINALLY!!! After my i-864 being rejected caues my UK income doesn't count, and my co-sponser messing up their forms... my husband finally got his visa in the post.
And what did that dumb ####### do???? Opened the sealed envelop that states "only to be opened by a usa immigration officer". Then decided to read that bit only after opening it.
What happens now? Is it still valid? Is it ruined???
Has anyone done that before???
Any advice please!!! Besides the fact I shouldn't have fallen in love with a blonde.
Thanks,
Jennifer

It's not like it is here in the UK. All you need to open a bank account in the states is money. You got money to deposit, you got an account.
I moved to the states a few years ago after being in the uk for 8 years and found no problems.
But.... you can't open a bank account over there without physically being there... I think. But what you can do, is order an international money order into your name, and deposit it in a bank over there. But your limited to £8,000 for that money order.
Or you can try to see if you can open one over the phone. Doubt that you can tho.
But choose your bank wisely!!! I opened a Bank of America account in the states so it's easy to tranfer money from Barclays here in the UK. Their affiliated with each other. In the North of the states i've also got another bank account which is affiliated with RBS and also easy to transfer money.
Stay away from the non-international small banks. They make it very difficult to transfer money!! Found out the hard way!!!
Good luck!

a month???? A bloody month????
I'm an american, and if they don't want my husband... then i'll spend the rest of my life paying huge taxes in another country. Their bloody loss!!
They also just lost my tax returns. ARG!!!! So I have to send them in new. Do they do that so I'll have to use their expensive courier service.
I'm ###### off with America now and not sure it's the place for me anymore.
Thanks for hearing out my boohoos,
Jennifer

Well.... my income is accepted in my tax returns... but not in the I-864. So I had to redo it leaving my income as 0, although my tax returns state that I made over 60K. It's so retarded.
It was a huge shock to have that rejected. I've done so much research on that form!!!
I've been working in the UK for over 10 years. But thank god I can claim domicile in the usa as I did live in miami the year before last keeping my drivers licence and bank accounts and stuff. If it weren't for that... I would have to move to the usa without my husband to establish domicile.
I don't know how others do it. There's not too much mention of trouble with the I-864.
Thanks,
Jennifer

I did do my usa taxes and everything. I had already transferred 17K to the usa but that only counts as an asset which I would need 80K for that. What rubbish!!!
Nowhere have I come across foreign income not able to be used on the usa embassy website. What a rip.
Now I guess I sit and wait and hope for the best!!!
Thanks,
Jennifer

My I-864 was rejected at my husbands interview cause they said my foreign income doesn't count as income. ARG!!! It states that nowhere on forums nor the usa embassy websites.
So okay... Got my sister to co-sponser and put her income and house up for assets. And sent it straight back 1 week ago. So it's at the embassy now.
So i've already quit my job, given notice in my flat having to be out on my ear in 3 weeks.
My question... is how long will it take to get my husbands greencard so we're not living in the streets of London????
The guy at the embassy said it wasn't a problem, just get us the papers back and we'll have it back in a week. It's been a week. Does anyone have any idea how long this takes??? I'm terrified to be without a home and a job.
Did anyone realise that foreign income doesn't count??? I've lived in London for 10 years.... how would I get usa dollars????
Thanks for any advice!!!

I could have sworn that on my DS-2001 checklist it states that I need 2 usa passport size photographs, but now i've been reading, I think I need 3.
Is it 2 or 3 usa passport size photos I need for my interview. I don't have any place in Doncaster to get these photos done, so i'm a bit stuffed if I need 3 photos.
Thanks,

I come from a country where women never change their surnames upon marriage. In this age of identity theft and terrorists, proving one's identity is essential to getting anything done. Yet I don't understand why some people choose to go through the extra hassle of changing their names. Chaning name is especially chaotic for an immigrant. Someone enlighten me as to the reasons why you decided to change your surname knowing you will have to go through a lot of hassle.
Don't let anyone tell you its a cultural thing. It goes back a long way when men used to drag us women by our hair. And now that we have our independance, some still choose to hide behind their husband.
I would never give up my beautful Italian in origion last name to take my husbands name. He wasn't bothered that I kept mine. I did offer his the choice to take mine, but he declined. he he
Do what you want to do. It's not the done thing. Especially if you like me, I have 2 passports, 4 bank accounts in several countries. All too hard to change over!!!! And i'm 33 years old, i am who I am by now and no marriage certificate will change that.
Thank god my husband is a modern man!!! He accepts my views and allows me to choose whatever I want for my life!!!
Keep your name if you want!!

Help!!!! I finally received my packet 3 from the USA Embassy in London. But I didn't get what others got.
I am already married to my husband when I filed the I-130.
And I only received the following in Packet 3:
DS230 part1
OF169 1 and 2
IV17 and 17A (vacination stuff)
I-184
IV18A
But I didn't get
DS-156 or any mention of it
DS-157 or any mention of it
And there's no mention of a $100 fee for this packet like other have.
What should I do? Just send in what they gave me and hope no one made a mistake?
Has anyone else encountered this???? What happened???
Thanks so much!!!

I just mailed the $380 fee bill to the NVC today. Can anyone tell me how long it might be before I can expect an interview in London.
I filed my I-130 a year ago now and things are really starting to drag.....
Many thanks.
Now do you have to send that $380 before your interview with packet 3? I'm based in London, and it mentions that I need the $280 for the interview. Is that true?

I've just received a letter as a reponse to my i-130 form and states that my british husband has been approved.
But.... that's all they gave me. No info packet, no visa number, nothing.
What do I do next? Aren't they supposed to send me an info packet? How do I know when it's time to send in my avadavit of support and other stuff???
HELP!! Will they adventually send me an info packet? Everyone else seemed to get one?
Thanks,
Jennifer

Congratulations on your approval. Now your file will be sent to the National Visa Center. They will assign a case #, take care of billing for AOS and IV and get the paperwork processed. Once your case is complete, they send it to the embassy. I do not know all the specifics of NVC as we are still processing at NVC ourselves.
Hello!!! I just got a "Notice of approval of relative immigrant visa petition" from filing my I-130 for my husband. We both live in England and it is me who is the USA citizen. But I haven't received an information pack or a visa number. I just got the notice and that's it. No explaination or nothing. Just a sheet of paper saying that he's approved as my husband. Aren't I supposed to get an information packet? Is this to come? Or do I have to post another form to get an info packet on what i'm supposed to do next?
Thanks,
Jennifer
