Hi,
Same here. It's been 1 month since the interview. We were verbally approved but never received official approval. Still waiting.
-
Hi,
Our AOS interview was 1 month ago and at Atlanta Field Office as well. And they even gave us the paper says; "Your application has been recommended for approval..". Even IO told us it would arrive in 15 business days. And informed us about ROC. But still pending...
-
Hi all,
We had our interview on 28th of July. At the end of the interview Officer said she would recommend our application for approval. And gave us a paper saying " your application has been recommended for approval..." And she said I would receive the card in 2 weeks. And informed us about ROC as well. And then I told her that my work permit would be expired on 9th of September and I had a full time job and what to do if I didn't receive it. Then she said it wouldn't take that long and I would definitely receive it by then.
We left the office whith the idea that we would receive an update in of couple days.Because she was so clear about it.
Well it's been 2 weeks and no updates at all. Fortunately I had applied for EAD renewal and I received approval notice yesterday. For now it's not a big deal. At least I have my EAD. But just wanted to ask and to be prepared for the next;
1) If they are not able to send it in 2 weeks, why would they tell you they are? (I guess there is no answer for this...)
2) Why is it taking so long? Waiting for Supervisor's approval? Running extra security checks? ( Then why do they not state this on that paper notification they gave us? Like "your application needs to be reviewed / Pending security checks etc.)
3) When should I follow up with them? after 30 days? 120?
I know a lot of people are still waiting and this is the only rule of this game. But maybe there are some people have some answers.
Thank you.

Ok so my case has been stuck on "Fingerprint received ..." , 3 weeks ago I did a service request and spoke to a tier 2 customer service as my case has passed it's handling time (According to seattle local office), the tier 2 lady told me my case is still at Lee summit service centre and she didn't know why it took so long but to call back within 4 weeks for more update.
As I was waiting for the 4 weeks to finish today my case changed to "Case ready for interview". So now I'm confused, if my case is ready for interview shouldn't my local office be handling my case? Also looking at seattle handling time they've way passed Oct filers, they're working on November..
Am I going crazy here or?
Hi,
I had contacted my senator and they had placed an inquiry for me.(2-3 Months ago). Then senator's office sent me the response from USCIS. It states that, after local office schedules the interview, Lee's Summit transfers the file to the local office. Until your interview is scheduled, your case stays at MSC.
Hope this helps.

Hi All,
It's kind of early for this but, just in case, my EAD will be expired next month and I'm currently working (full time). I had applied for renewal for my EAD in May. And we had our interview last week. (7/28). So, if I don't get my green card in 2 weeks, I should probably start calling them. (Again!) But which one should I call on? The green card or EAD? or both? Are they keeping the EAD to see the interview results? I see there was a "soft touch" on 7/27. Status hasnt changed.
HR will ask for my work permit extension pretty soon. And if I can't show them, I might have to take some unpaid vacation or something. Which would be terrible.
Officer told us we would receive the green card in 15 days. I mentioned her about my current EAD expiration. She clearly said I would receive the green card well before that date so no worries. But I feel like we will have some delays. Online status hasn't changed yet.
It feels like there is never an easy way. It has to be always stressful and exhausting and at the last minute.
-
Congratulations! Hopefully your card will arrive in the next week or so and you can finally relax for (almost) two years until ROC
Thanks. Fingers crossed!
-
Hi,
We had our interview today and the officer said she would recommend for approval and I would receive the card in 15 business days. So I assume it was an approval on the spot. But who knows.
Hope we can receive the gc without any delays.
-
So finally great news! Online status says card was mailed. Yippieeeee! Over 1 year of waiting.
Just FYI, our medical was expired (made in 2014) and we did not get RFE for a new medical. I was worried about that and it was fine. Finally wait is over until ROC
Congrats!
-
hi guys! i had my interview today (finally sfter a total of 1 year and 2 weeks of waiting) .. i was surprised the io only asked my info and my husband's name and birthday. and of course our supporting docs . i brought with me our lease of agreement in our apartment, wedding pics, marriage certificate, my baby's birth certificate. She just asked how many guests were in the wedding. and thats it!
the boooo part was , she gave me an Rfe for an updated medical ?? in other word need to repeat and spend more money!!! has anyone here repeated their medical again due to expiration of the previous one? sigh*
Hi,
Yes I saw some other people had to get a new medical after the interview. And sorry for that.
It's kind of confusing. It says " Validity of the medical examination is 1 year after the date of submission to USCIS" and the question is are they considering the EXACT DATE or the month of submission? In other words, if somebody submits the application on July,8 2015 means medical will be expired on July,9 2016? Or they mean end of the July 2016? (Like your license plate renewal every year. They send a letter with a due date but actually it's due end of that month)
It's really 1mil dollar question... If somebody knows the answer please share.

Hi All,
Finally our interview is scheduled today. It's on July 28.
Is there a topic here explains what paperwork should we take to the interview?
-
Thanks Punchy. Any news about your interview date?
Not yet. Still waiting...
Have you received online notification at all when they scheduled your interview? Or you only received the letter?
I'm checking the mail everyday now lol.
-
Yay! Finally received my 10-year GC today after about 3 years of waiting as a spouse of a PR. The interview went smoothly and we were approved on the spot. Best of luck for those of you who are still waiting.
Congrats!
-
Thank you! I sent letters to Congressman and Senator. I am really worry as EAD/AP is expiring in less than 2 months and I read to renew it we would have to send $380 and do new biometrics. I hope I am wrong as it is not out fault It's almost 1 year waiting.
Hi,
You are not paying anything for EAD renewal. It says that if you have a pending marriage based I-485, you don't have to pay anything for renewal. I sent my renewal application last month.
And about new biometrics, I just received a notification in the mail saying that they are able to use my 1st biometrics info so I don't have to go through a new one.
If you ask me, I would send the renewal application right away.
And I must say that when I saw the mail in my mailbox, I thought it was my interview notice. I got excited for a second.
-
punchy,
how about bio metrics appoinment ?
its been almost 20 days i got my receipt numbers
Hi,
I had sent my package on July 8th 2015 and 21st of July 2015 I got my receipts. Then 2 days later I received the biometrics appointment letter. I would call them and check with them about this.
But like I said, if your case is not showing, calling them will not help. You received your receipts. So whenever they touch your case next and decide to put the information online, then you will be able to see it.
I know how it feels. Waiting in the dark. After almost 11 months my case started showing. During this time I was thinking maybe they lost the package etc. all kinds of horror stories.
-
Hi All,
Maybe this can help some of you.
I submitted my AOS application in July 2015. I wasn't able to see my case status online until May 30th 2016. And it started showing when it was ready to be scheduled for an interview.
Same thing happened to My EAD. I wasn't able to see the status online until they approved the case. Then it started showing.
Just saying that if you received notifications in the mail, you are fine. And as a personal experience, calling USCIS will not help. Whenever they decide to update your case and put that information to the website, then you will see it.
Hope this helps.
-
Hi,
Suddenly my case started showing the status online and it says as of May 30th, it's ready to be scheduled for an interview.
Until today, I wasn't able to see my case online.I don't know if that was the Senator or Ombudsman but there is something happening for sure.
-
Good Luck! We are also waiting. Can you send me contact info for USCIS Ombudsman. It will be almost a year soon and no news at all
Hi,
Here is the link.
https://www.dhs.gov/case-assistance
But I suggest you to contact your Congressman/Congresswoman or Senator first. It took 4 months for USCIS Ombudsman to send the inquiry.
-
Hi guys,
Just wanted to drop this here. I contacted the Senator's office and they send an inquiry immediately last Thursday.
And today USCIS Ombudsman informed me that they sent an inquiry as well. After 4 Months since I submitted a request to the Ombudsman office....
Well USCIS received 2 inquiries now. Hope I can get some answers.
-
Woohoo! Finally got my interview letter for June 1st, two days before my medical expires!
Wow! Great News! Good Luck!
Mine will expire 13th of June. But I don't believe I can get the interview date by then. Fingers Crossed.
-
Punchy,
I was notified that my case is ready to be scheduled for an interview after I contacted my local congressman. You can either do that or file a case with USCIS Ombudsman. This definitely makes a difference. I don't know how long I need to wait from now to an actual interview date as it may vary from 1-6 months. Good luck and I hope you hear something from them soon.
Hi. Thank you. I already submitted an inquiry to the CIS Ombudsman in Feb. Waiting time for the inquiry was 45 business days. It's passed also.
Based on the answer I'll get from the ombudsman my last option is the congressman.
But it's really strange to me that I haven't received any RFEs or something like that but still they haven't even transferred my case to the local office.
I have to start the renewal process of my EAD next month and my medical will be expired in June. GREAT!
And the worst thing is you can never get an accurate answer from any agency about the reason why it's still pending.
-
Hi guys. I'm still waiting for an interview as well. We've filed at the beginning of July and I haven't heard anything since.
After 1 SR and 1 infopass, they told me my application was still at NBC.They haven't even transferred it to the local office yet. I don't know what the reason is. What would be the reason for them not to transfer my application? I haven't received any RFEs either.
At this point it's pointless to check local office processing time since my application is not at the field office.
I think all of you who are still waiting, need to know where your application is.
I'm really curious what would be the reason they still keep my application at NBC. Any ideas?
-
I Submitted a service request since the time line shows that I should have received my interview date and even interviewed by now. And they send me this;
Due to workload factors not related to your case, USCIS anticipates a delay in completing your case. Presently, we anticipate that delay to be approximately 6 months from the date of this notice....
It totally doesn't make sense at all.
After this I sent an email to USCIS Ombudsman. Waiting for an answer from there now. If it doesn't work I will ask help from senator's office. If I still don't have the answer I guess I need to call the president ?
After receiving Ead very quick, I didn't guess this process would be painful like this.
Hope everybody hears something soon. Honestly, uncertainty started being exhausting as of today.
-
I filed my AOS in July, no news about interview or GC. I sent an inquiry that why my case is taking longer than USCIS processing time. I should have received my GC last year!! :crying:
Same here. Even the processing time table shows that they have completed the applications filed later than mine was.
As long as it's not lost or something like that I'm fine with it.
The bad thing is if they schedule the interview later than June I will have to do medical examination and renew my work permit.
Thank you USCIS

I saw such a summary done on another month's thread and thought it was very helpful to get a sense of the process.
Our thread doesn't have a ton of people so here is my best effort to update everybody on where things stand. I included everybody adjusting from non-family visas who has posted here since July, even if their NoA date was in June. I did NOT include anyone adjusting from K or FB visas since their process is sufficiently different to not be so informative for comparison purposes. There are profiles without timelines and timelines that have not been updated for a while, but I hope the result still provides some useful info both for all of us on the thread and for future readers.

I'm adjusting from J1 as well. Still no interview date. Even though ATL field office processing timeline indicates that we should have heard something by now. Just waiting for the 6 month mark. Then I will submit a request.
Applying for J1 for 2nd Time
in Student & Exchange Visitor Visas
Posted
Good Afternoon All,
Hope everyone is doing well.
I've been researching to see if a person who just finished their Trainee program can apply for a 2nd Trainee program in a different field? Like let's say first one was on Logistics and second one will be on Accounting/Finance. Of course person returned to their home country after their trainee program and 2 year rule does not apply to their previous J1. If so, is there any wait time between? I read that some people were able to apply second time in the following year but I couldn't find a solid answer to my question.
Thank you.
