  1. Thanks for all the encouragement and support everyone... Today, (the day after doing the service request) our status on USCIS website has changed to: "My card was mailed to me" - with a Sept 3 mailing date. We know the website can be pretty unreliable but we definitely feel like that is a step in the right direction. Checking our mailbox daily and will keep you all posted!

    Great news :joy:

Wait for couple of days, the card should be there, as they use 2 days shipping.

Check online if they updated the USPS tracking # (which I doubt). If you don't receive it by 5th, call up USCIS & directly talk with the next level for the tracking #.

I would say you can call now itself & ask for it - saying you want to make sure it gets delivered to you & don't wanna miss it, hence u need to track it

    All the best...

  2. So it's been a few days since our online status changed to "My New Card Is Being Produced"; We decided to check if there has been any new status update. Well, there has been one, but not for the better... our status has gone back to "My Welcome Notice Has Been Mailed" but the dates are now later. They now say the notice is on Aug 28, 2015 (instead of our previous July 23, 2015) and that we should NOW receive our green card by October 27 (instead of Sept 21). Needless to say we are both in a state of disbelief...

So, no more patiently waiting - we've called 800-375-5283, asked for the "next level up" and put in our service request and got our service request reference number. They said we should expect to hear back within 2 weeks. We will do the infopass if they cannot produce concrete results (i.e. green card mailed status, or GC in hand) during these next two weeks.

We'll keep you all posted, thank you for the guidance.

I strongly believe that the online statuses are kind of garbage, because most of the times they are out of sync, unfortunately.

In my case on 8/2 status changed to Card Production. On 8/7 I got the approval hard copy but only on 8/9 the status finally changed to Welcome Notice saying they approved the case on 8/3 !!! How can you order card before approving, makes no sense to me.

On 8/24 status changed that Card got mailed on 8/22 - again no sync.

I received the card on 8/25 - and online status still says Card mailed. Normally, as I have seen with EAD/other cases, it changes once USPS delivers the card to you - so again out of sync in my case.

Infopass much required for you, what I feel, as they are dragging things for long, unfortunately.

  3. Totally agree with Pickle & cococacoa -

Moment it hits 3 weeks timeline, you should raise the SR.

My attorney was about to do so on the day we hit 3 weeks, but luckily we got the card dispatch update the same day morning.

Next time when you call the customer service, please don't waste your precious time with the 1st person/level 1 (whatever they call it) - good for nothing, all they can do is read the same thing which even we can see online. They don't have access to check card dispatch tracking number even, so what help they can do with SR.

Immediately ask you want to talk to the next higher level, to raise SR, as it's beyond normal processing times.

Schedule the infopass too, but I would suggest give at least a week gap or something from the day you raised the SR - or else during infopass IO might end up giving the same feedback - 'please wait, u just raised sr, blah blah'.

Atleast you can get the I-551 stamp, to help you during the trip. Keep the trip supporting docs as well, as they might ask to validate.

  4. Great news TrixieStep

Btw did your husband called up USCIS on 21st to get the tracking number? If yes, did they shared anything with him?

I did called up the USCIS customer service sometime back for the tracking number - the level 1 was good for nothing :protest: , she eventually transferred the call to the next level - & the guy gave me what I asked for  .

Both of us checked the status & realized it got delivered today :wow:

Now can't wait to go home after work & check it out - finally the wait is over, phew :joy:

  5. Looks like the week started on a better note for me - Got the status update email sometime back from USCIS stating that they mailed the card on 8/22 :wow:

But I don't think the card got picked up by USPS on 8/22, which was Sat !!!

I checked online & there is no tracking # - nor my USPS dashboard showing anything coming my way/address.

I assume it will actually get picked up today.

Can you guys let me know what happened in your case? Do you think I need to call the customer service to get the tracking #? If yes, do I need to speak with the L1 support to get the #?

Your suggestions will be really helpful, as always.

  6. Only with DHS authorization is a restricted social security card, as you can see here. (It will be the 2nd one)

    http://www.ssa.gov/ssnumber/cards.htm

It is for people with EAD / Work sponsor Visa etc.

For people with Green Card, it will be the First Option Unrestricted Social Security Card, which would apply, I am assuming everyone in this thread.

Maybe when you guys got the Social Security card, maybe you guys got the Unrestricted one to start off with, but for me anyways I got the Restricted Card (Only with DHS authorization)

If you guys got the restricted Social Security Card like me, be sure to go back to SS Office (After you receive the Green Card) and let them know you would like to remove the tag

You are totally right in here - even I am in the same boat, once I get my GC - need to remove the condition.

  7. Card finally shipped today. When my husband gets home from work he's going to call about the tracking number. That's 4 weeks yesterday he's been waiting. His AP/EAD expires 13th September and if he doesn't get it before the he loses his job. Here's to hoping it gets here soon.

You can do 1 thing to keep track of the shipment -

    1. Go to USPS

    2. Click 'My USPS' on the top, right side

    or use this url: https://my.usps.com/go/pages/intro/start.action

    3. Sign Up & during the process use your postal address (assuming it's the same postal address registered with USCIS, where USCIS dispatched the card".

Once you are in, you will see a feature called 'Package Dashboard'.

Now any package that's coming/addressed to your postal address - will show up here.

If you set up alerts, you will get sms/emal alerts for each & every status change for that/all packages addressed to you.

I am using it for long, & trust it's accurate.

The moment a package gets tagged to your address - you start getting notifications.

Hope this helps. Best of luck

  8. I didn't actually do the service request -- the IO I spoke to told me to do that if we hadn't received it 6 weeks after approval. You could do it earlier, but since we're pretty sure what the cause of the delay is, I'm not sure what good that would do. PDXDD and I got ours about a month after approval.

The IO also said that there's another location that handles GCs, but it might be in the same city, I'm not sure.

    Hope you get yours soon!!

Thanks for your suggestions, appreciate that.

  9. Follow Cococacao's advice. SR after the 6th week. But I think you will get your card this week or next week. It seems recently it takes around 4 weeks for us to receive the card from LEE'S SUMMIT. Hang in there, one more week to go. :goofy:

Keeping all my finger's crossed, lol

My attorney said they will raise the SR, if I don't get the card by Monday 8/24, which will be 3 weeks from approval....

This unnecessary wait is so stressful, for no reason :protest:

  10. Congrats to those who are done with this unnecessary ordeal :joy:

Well I am in the same boat - got card production email on 8/2, Got the Welcome mail on 8/6 stating that on 8/3 they have approved the application.

After that - NOTHING - waiting & waiting for the card to arrive. 8/24 I will hit 3 weeks timeframe.

Called up USCIS customer service this week, in vain - got the stereotype response that need to wait for this # of days, blah blah

Then the guy informed that & I quote "We were told my NBC to tell you all that there is some backlog going on with them wrt card production"!! - I was like 'well as if the wait till now was not enough, & you have more excuses to delay things :protest:

My approval notice too came from LEE'S SUMMIT, MO - I am not sure if this' the ONLY NBC that handles GC production cases, nevertheless after going through other's posts in this forum it looks like it's the issue with this NBC.

Can you please let me know when you raised the SR - after 3 weeks?
