  1. Hi all,

I submitted my petition to remove conditions on my Green Card back in October. I received notice to attend Biometric's and attended etc. I received my I-797 Notice of Action confirming my Green card had been extended by 18 months on 11/10/18 .

The issue is, the Receipt number (top left of I-797, beginning EAC) when I try to track the case status gives me a Validation Error. I assumed that this document would allow me to track my case but maybe I'm missing something? Is this how people have historically tracked the progress of their I-751 and I should call USCIS, any guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Andy

  2. Hi all,

I've been looking for the answer to this but can't seem to find it. I have a 2 year perm resident green card and I have a full UK driving license. A few weeks back I rented a car in Florida and afterwards thought is this actually legal. Thankfully I had no issues in terms of renting the car or any accident. However am I allowed to rent a car without a US driving license?

The DMV says you need to get a license once a perm resident but does this apply to rental cars? I simply ask because I was able to rent a car with a UK license and a US credit card no questions asked.

    Thanks,

    Andy

  3. Hi everyone,

I guess I'm just looking for assurances that I'm doing the right thing not contacting USCIS.

    Submitted I-485 March 2nd 2016.

RFE from MSC for further evidence - financials, 1 year worth of bank statements sent. Was sent back and received by USCIS April 27th 2016

RFE for another medical/vaccination record due to my K-1 blood work expiring due to the first RFE. However this came from the Newark NJ field office this time on July 29th 2016. My new medical/vaccination record done by USCIS approved physician received by the Newark office August 12th 2016

I guess my concern is that on the USCIS site where I have an account for status updates it hasn't updated since they received further evidence for the first RFE back in April. I know that my second medical paperwork was received as I have the tracking from USPS.

I guess I just expected the site to have updated by now and to at least have an interview pending. It's likely you can't really speak to this but wanted confirmation I'm doing the correct thing by not chasing USCIS?

Also I live in Brooklyn which of course is close to Newark but is still New Jersey. Shouldn't my application be processed by the New York field office or is it just whichever is closest and state doesn't matter?

    Thanks

    Andy

  4. Really hoping someone can fill in the blanks. Currently have I-131 pending (part of my I-485 application) for 55 days. My best friend passed away a few days ago and I want to go home for the funeral a week on Saturday. Does anyone know of a situation where it's a non family member and they've approved emergency parole (I haven't found an example on here). Also the infopass website has no appointments, if I just go to the office without one will I be turned away or can I wait?

    Appreciate any info

    Thanks

    Andy

  5. I know it has always said that, but can tell you I am aware of many people who were not required to show their previous passport. Some reported they didn't bring it and were never asked. Others brought it and they looked at them strangely and declined to take it...Kinda like "why would I need your old passport?"

So if seven years of London experience helps calm your nerves, that's my two cents. If they, should ask, tell them you don't have it. I really don't think you will have a problem.

Thanks, thats essentially what I had read already just wanted to check there has been any further examples of this situation. Appreciate your response as always Nick

  6. Hi all,

Quick question: I just received my interview date was really quick (had my medical on 7/10/15). Anyway I've just paid the K visa application fee (more money grrrrrrr) and on the e-mail they send you to print off it states in the section to bring on the day; "all previous passports, especially those that show international trips or previously issued visas to the United States". I got a new passport around 3 years ago and it was a same day service where you go to Victoria and they issue on the day. However I never got my old passport back, which had my student visa when I went to school in Miami and a number of trips abroad. Is this going to be an issue that I don't have this? Is there anything I can do? Appreciate any advice.

    Many Thanks,

    Andy

  7. For a case interviewing in London, you will find everything under Immigrant because it is the Immigrant Visa Unit that processes your case. That includes when you go online to pay the visa fee and scheduled the courier. That includes when you use the contact form if you need to ask for information. When you queue on interview day, your "take a number" sticker will start with I.

After the interview your CEAC status will still say "ready" and Immigrant at first. Then it will change to saying Non-Immigrant, then status of AP, then Issued.

Again, this is the typical London process. Each consulate can be different.

Thanks for this. Just lastly as I know you help a lot of people on this site, is there a recent post you can think of where someone has given dates (London embassy specific) from when they submitted readiness to receiving there interview date? My medical is tomorrow so I'm assuming the 6 weeks starts from when I submitted readiness and they will receive my medical way before this. Just hoping that I get my interview date a few weeks earlier than 6.

    Cheers

  8. Hi all,

Hoping someone might be able to help me with this or have some experience. This is regarding a K-1 visa application (London based); So I completed the DS-160, arranged my medical for Wednesday and I've submitted my details on 'notification of application readiness' webpage. Once submitted I wanted to check that it had gone through correctly but I couldn't find my details under 'non-immigrant' only via the 'immigrant check my visa application status link'.

I'm a little concerned I might have done something wrong in the process and wanted to run it by the community and if I have how I resolve this. I've followed all the instructions so not sure how this has happened.

    Thanks,

    Andy

  9. Hi everyone,

Likely a silly question this however me and my finacee's I-129F paperwork has been approved. I'm trying to make a start on the documents required and was looking at the criminal record check. It states if you have lived in another country since the age of 16 for 6 months or more you need one for that country. I went to the University of Miami for a year. Do I need to get a criminal background check from the USA? Appreciate any feedback.

    Thanks

    Andy
