Just finalizing planning trip to SS office tomorrow and a knock on the door. Smiling Post office lady with my wife's social security card in hand. Ahhh bureaucracy .... Good Day!
-
Ahh she made it , we are happy happy and married last week! But yeah ... 2 days after her arrival, we went to the Local Social Security office and applied for a SS card. The nice lady said she was not on the SWIFT system yet and took her application. We got a letter (receipt) stating to expect something back within 4 weeks. 4 weeks and a day, I called to check the status through the local office and they said they could not speak to me due to privacy - fine. Way to much time on hold, so get the secretary on the attack. Secretary confirmed the card was NOT issued. The wife does not speak such good English yet, so apparently we have to go back to the office to have her give in-person permission to allow me to talk to the SS office for her -- Thursday it is, and!!, a bit strange that lady on the phone said something about ICE holding it up. So hoping for a quick fix..... Mailing AoS tomorrow!

Cleared it up by calling live person, duty officer, at port of entry. He quickly encouraged me to google electronic I-94 and sure enough "retrieving your I-94" was one of the first listed in the search. Surprised no paperwork given to her at all.,..just stamp in passport..... oh well! Print and ready to go SS tomorrow. happy happy days!

good morning all...... We are very excited! fiancee just arrived with POE of Boston... No troubles on entry but as we wake up today and start thinking about what is next, she was not given any paperwork by immigration. How do we get the I-94 ? there is probably a basic step I missing here but any clarification would be great. Phone calls top USCIS too productive.

We ordered Police Certificate from Thailand with no extra fee option on July 8 and Laos Embassy had it for our interview Aug 3. There was no copy for us, very confusing for me as I expected a hard copy, but instead sent directly. Wifey just looks blankly like i should have known, said "no problem".

Congrats all! We got approved...she goes to get Visa stamp next week..... Thank You VJ community!!!!

Interview date confirmed Aug 3 , on the last day of my 3rd visit to the Kingdom. So i can be there for moral support and attend!!

Hey folks! Grats to all those with NOA2! have faith those who have not. We got our NOA2 March 2, 2016 on my way back from a 2nd visit. I think they were waiting to see if i went for second visit before clearing NOA2 but eh.... Sooooo ... the nature of confusion. When Starting this process, my fiancee T and I talked about the option of going to Laos for her interview as her mother lives close Vientiane and her home far from crazy busy Bangkok. She chose going to Laos. It took 60 days for Laos embassy to acknowledge receipt of our application... but they did woohoo. They had good communication and sent out instructions to both of us. Looking good so far....
Boom... fiancee says she thought a bit and talked to other thai and now wants the interview in Bangkok. omg.....
I am good with her decision as we get one shot and she must be comfortable. She probably knows more now than i do...
I just meekly and apologetically requested the Laos Embassy to transfer the application to Bangkok but not reply in thai day.
Regrettably, we (I) created a visatraveldocs/la account and now we cant make a visatraveldocs/th account as the system shoots the login right to Lao. doh....
that the status... We are anxious but no massive rush. I get to go Thailand again in August...maybe to be at interview if this transfer thing not too much of a quagmire. Good luck all.

-

This may be a little revolutionary for some but in transferring a little money Thailand -- BITCOIN is the answer. Buy BTC on Coinbase with $$, send BTC to Thai bitcoin exchange, Sell the Bitcoin on that exchange for local currency, transfer funds to shared Thai bank account. Literally takes 2-4 hours total and costs $2-3 US. Its super slick and with better exchange rate than any bank. FYI

Little Question...
My state enhanced drivers license, passport, and mailing address are all the same address where I work and have lived until recently. I still stay there infrequently and continue to work at this address. I have moved into a new home recently a couple towns over.
I wonder if i should even mention it as where the beneficiary will reside in order to keep all the address the same?
Fudge address for the value of consistency; or there is no value and be clear where we will live?

Hey all!! My name is P. and I have been investigating the K-1 visa process for many months after meeting an amazing lady from Thailand in the beginning of 2015. I went just visited her this past August and plan on going back in February. As we move forward, we are considering starting the process of having her come to the USA so we can be together. Thinking about the K-1 process is such as serious and big step, and I wanted to thank all the kind and knowledgeable members here for their wisdom and stories that help. Engaging this forum has given me a good sense of what we can expect as we ponder the K-1 process. Thanks again and I look forward to checking in here a couple times a week.
Anyone got their mortgage loan approved using expired 2 year GC ?
in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion

yes , my wife''s green card is expired and she has a removal of conditions application extension for 18 months. We close on our new home next week. The bank did ask for "valid" green card but after explaining that the extension was the only validity we had or were going to get, they moved on.
