Hi, I am a Green Card holder who has had a reentry permit before due to studies abroad. My old permit has not expired yet but will be soon.
I went back to the US for three months but had to come back due to some personal issues and I can't stay in the US for too long at the moment so my question is if I go to the US to apply for an i-131 application, I will have to submit my old reentry permit and then leave the US and come back for the biometrics. This leaves me without a reentry permit would this cause an issue even if I have a biometrics appointment letter and go back to the US in 4-6 weeks?
What if my reentry permit expires after the submission of my second i-131 application, can that cause me any problems even though I have already applied for a new permit?

Also I understand that I am risking my green card but at the moment I have a drivers license and US bank account which I intend to use as a proof that I am maintaining residency in US and I can't afford to buy a house or an apartment in the US yet and don't work in the US so can't file my taxes yet. What else can I do to protect my green card? Thanks
