I had my interview today at the San Jose center. I was out of the door under 45 mins (including the security check, etc). It was pretty smooth, started with the questions (longest river, war in the 1900s, vice precident's name, what did the declaration of independence do, who was the father of the country, don't remember the other one), read/write, and verification of personal info/responses.

I was told that I was going to be recommended for approval and once approved, I should receive a letter (usually within 30 days) with the oath's date. Later I received a notice that says, "Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled". Anyone happens to know when (time of the month) San Jose usually schedules the oaths? I will probably have a business trip late January, and we might combine it with a personal trip, if the business trip happens, and hopefully, we will avoid canceling/rescheduling things.

BTW, I asked if I can do a passport application after the oath, and they told me that the State Department doesn't attend the oaths anymore.

How about that? On exactly my one-year filling anniversary, I got a notice that I have been scheduled for an interview on Dec 14th and I have to be there at 7:15am, any idea on how long these things take?

The estimator is back, it looks like my interview will take a while (I am OK with that; traveling in August). San Jose, CA center.

I would like to plan travel in August (3 weeks), and I am concerned that I might get an interview notice that it might fall during my travel dates. How far in advance they usually send these notices, and is it possible to reschedule? My service center is San Jose, CA and they appear backed-up, but you never know. Before they took the estimator down, I think my estimated completion date was around September. 

If it wasn't for COVID-19, I was going to book my flights right away, but I'm waiting a bit to see how things will play out.

I got a notice (dated Feb 19, 2021) that they will reuse my biometrics on file. I applied on Nov. 16, 2020.

Submitted electronically on Nov. 16th.

For those that track the timing of events, I was just notified that my card was mailed today (approved on March 7th), however, no tracking number was provided.

We fly out in two weeks. Does anyone know if being on the extension letter causes any drama while traveling overseas? I know it shouldn't, but can you just go through the normal point of entry, or do you have to go into the airport immigration office?

I just came back from a week in Japan. In the US, the agent made a comment about the green card still pending and I replied saying that this takes at least 6 months (I am an August filer) and that was it. In Japan, at the check-in counter the airline person (apparently they need to make sure that you have a valid VISA before traveling to the US) had to go ask for a few minutes, but it was OK.

I think confidence is key. If they ask you questions, just answer them stating the facts without worrying about it.

You played your part by changing and updating your address with USCIS! If they need any new evidence they will send you a request! Until then, I would sit back and wait! Good luck.

I have a question: We just moved from AZ to CA (BTW, no issues with the DMV or my employer with the extension letter and I changed my address with USCIS). Should I send the new lease and insurance documents (with both of our names) to USCIS as further evidence? Is this unnecessary? Will it delay the processing if I do? What do you guys think?

Am talking about the ROC stage, where else do you get a letter of extension or require an I-551 stamp in your foreign current passport book. Can also bring in two passport photos and apply for an I-94.

At my wife's interview for citizenship wanted to see here expired green care, letter of extension, and her I-551 stamp in her current foreign passport. But in dealing with other government agencies where certification is required, always met with a board. With the USCIS, only dealing with one individual and no telling what they will want.

If you think dealing with the likes of the DMV is bad with an expired green card and that one year extension notice, try this with that I-551 stamp. That one year extension notice is worthless without that expired green card.

My GC is now expired while waiting for the ROC to be approved. I am moving to CA from AZ and I went to my local USCIS office to ask whether I should have any problems with the expired card and the extension letter at the DMV and with my employer. The answer was that I shouldn't have any problem. I asked about the I-551 stamp and they told me that they only give the stamp to people that lost their extension letter. I even asked "what if they have a problem with my expired GC/extension letter, what I should do?" and the answer was "they won't have any problem."

I will test that soon, hopefully, they are right.

I had an infopass appointment today, and they assured me that my GC + the extension letter should be accepted. I even asked what I should do if they (DMV or employer) give me any trouble and the answer was "they will not." I also asked for a passport stamp and they told me that they only give the stamp if you lose the extension letter and they refused to give me one.

They also verified that the one-year extension is from the GC's expiration date and not from the extension letter's date.

There is a good chance that I will be moving to California from Arizona in the next few weeks, likely before I get the new GC (August filler). My GC just expired, is the extension letter enough for my new (hopefully) employer and for the DMV (driver license)?

Anyone's status changed from Received to Initial Review?
