  1. Hi all,

I received my NOA2 on Sept. 10 and according to the USCIS webpage, my case was sent to the Dept. of State on Sept. 18. I called the NVC a week ago and was told to call back beginning of November (due to estimated wait times of 35 days to receive cases and assign case numbers) for my case number. I called again today (Nov. 5) and they told me they have not received my case and to email them to 'research' why my petition has not been received.

On a whim, I also called the TSC to see if they had any additionally info. The confirmed they sent my case to the Dept. of State, but they also told me that the case goes first to the Dept. of State before being sent onto the NVC. (I had no idea - I thought they were the same thing). The TSC operator told me to visit the Dept. of State website for contact info but I can't seem to find any contact info other than for the NCV which I've already called.

Does anyone have any insight?? At the rate this process is going, its going to be two years before my husband gets his green card!

  2. I tried reading through this - it's quite long! But there is a commonality here, which is that most people are from either Canada or a VWP country. But I'm interested in flying my husband out (NOT from a VWP country) for a visit (1.5 months). He already has a tourist visa. We have filed and received NOA1, but haven't gotten much farther. He is unemployed and living with his parents (so we wouldn't be able to show rental or employment letters at POE). Like everyone else on this, I'm worried about him getting through immigration. Thoughts??

  3. Hi all! I sent my I-130 to the Chicago Lockbox which got rerouted to the Texas Service Center. I received my NOA1 on March 24, 2015. I'm still waiting for the NOA2. I've been keeping an eye on the processing times and it looks like the TSC is now processing April 10, 2015. That means that they should have already started mine (and finished???). Does anyone know more about this? Should I be calling them to see what's happening, or does that just mean that they have started working on it? Anyone have experience with noticing the time from when the service center shows they are processing compared to when you receive the NOA2?

Thanks for any insight! Starting to feel a little crazy here! :)

  4. Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum, but am encouraged by the level of support I've seen on it.

I submitted the I-130 back in March (2015) and am waiting on the approval (any day, I hope!) for my husband. If we are about average, that would put us at about April or May 2016 for the whole process to be complete.

I just graduated (master's) and am job searching. Ideally, I would like to find a job abroad. My question is two-fold: first, is it wise for the sponsor to work abroad while we wait for the visa to be ready (would this hinder our application in any way?); and second, do I need to be in the US when my spouse finally comes? If I went abroad for work, it would be a year-contract, so hypothetically, my husband's visa would be ready before my contract finished.

    Thanks for any insight!
