My wife has a green card and has work in her home country. I have heard she can be out side of the country for 4 months and I've heard 6 months. I've also heard that she should not be working while outside of the country. Our first inclination was to take her work contract to the US embassy there for clarification. How long can she stay outside the US? How much consecutive time outside the US? And what is the policy about working outside the US?

No not yet. I plan to do it Friday.

I am sponsoring my wife as she applies for her green card. She is already in the US but needs to travel back to her country. She currently has a visitors' visa. I heard that if she leaves after submitting the applications that she will not be allowed to return. Is this true?
