So if I'm getting a driver's license in NY and they require my social security card, but it says DHS approval, would they still accept it or would I need to get some other document from DHS?

Starkilla09, $1490 is how much I paid. I had a check for $420 and one for $1070; for was for the I-130 and the other for the I-485.

I'm so confused... I guess I'll have to call them on Monday.

I submitted my forms (concurrent filing).

I just got a letter saying, "Your I-765, fees, and any supporting documentation is being returned to you for the following reason(s):

The check amount is incorrect, or has not been provided." Then it goes on to say, "Please be sure to complete the application fully, submit the appropriate fees..."

What is the fee for the I-765 Application for Employment Authorization and do I have to submit EVERYTHING (packets I-485 and I-130) all over again? God, I hope not... Also are the rest of the documents still being processed since this document was not mandatory to get a green card?

How do I find out if USCIS received my documents? Freaking out that I haven't gotten notified yet that it was received. I think I sent them out over a week ago. Maybe even 2... According to USPS it was delivered to Chicago so I know it arrived there.

If the EAD is the I-765, then yes I will be filling that out today actually.

Oh okay. This is only if I want to leave. I won't be leaving before my green card is processed. So if I am NOT leaving the country before my green card is processed, I don't need to fill out this form, correct?

And then after I get my green card, I can freely travel?

As I said, I'm on the J-1 graduate visa, which is a 1-year work visa. What is my status then? I've graduated college already and I'm not under the "trainee" category. Is there an intern category or would I put student?

My husband is on a J-1 visa.

We are filing to get his green card (I am a US citizen and he's from Ireland).

Does he need to fill out the I-765 Employment Authorization in order to get his green card?

Once he gets his green card, is he completely free to work in the US as long as the visa is valid?
