Hello,
I received my conditional greencard in late 2006. Recently my company offered me an attractive foreign assignment overseas, and my wife and I are considering to accept. Having said that, we wonder if this could have a negative impact on my CR1 visa.
Any thoughts or similar experiences?
Thank you,
M

Dear all,
Yesterday I had my interview at the embassy and everything went well. ())) I got my passport back with the big stamp in it. They told me that I should receive the actual GreenCard within the next 6 weeks.
I found a job and I am supposed to start on Nov 1. Assuming that I will not have received the actual GreenCard nor my Social Security # by Nov 1, can I still start working? What should I tell my employer?
Thank you and all the best,
Michigan

Dear all,
I seem to be blind this morning .... I have seen threads about how to find out when the NVC sends the approved case to the appropriate embassy, e.g. by using DHL's tracking function. But now (Murphy's Law, I guess ...) I can't find it anymore. Has anyone an idea how I can track it?
Thank you

Hello,
I am also a German citizen and have been wondering about the medical. What kind of shots do they expect? Is there a list in German language I could show to my doctor? Or is there a chance to do the medical in advance (at a doc who can perform it but does not require a case #)?
Thank you,
M

Hello,
It is time to start thinking about the next steps ...
What is in the "Packet 3"? What kind of information or forms will be required? Can I prepare something in advance? When will I get it - as soon as the embassy gets the case or with heavy delays?`
And what is in the "Packet 4"?
How about "Packet 1" and "Packet 2"?
Thank you,
M

Hi,
The NVC received our I864 and our DS230 yesterday. They said it will take them 6-8 weeks to review them.
How much time does it take in real? I assume their estimates are very conservative to avoid too many people calling in ...
Thank you,
M

Hello,
I called the NVC last Wednesday and they told us that the I864 is on its way. This Friday (yesterday) I called them again and they were surprised that we have not received it yet.
How much time does it usually take to receive the I864? We are thinking about using James's shortcut if we should not have the forms in the mail today - would we have to use the old I864 or the new form?
Thank you for any comments and ideas in advance,
M

Thank you for the links.
But even there we have conflicting information: Based on the instructions of the I864 package we would have to provide tax returns for the last 3 years - based on the State.gov website it would only require the tax return for the most recent tax year. What is correct?

Hello,
A few more questions about the Authorization for Release of Federal Tax Data:
1) Is the form provided in "James's Shortcuts" still valid?
2) On the bottom of the page it asks for the "Post". In my case the Post is Frankfurt in Germany. Do I have to write "FRANKFURT" or "FRANKFURT AM MAIN" or "FRANKFURT, GERMANY"?
3) I am right saying that this form has to be sent in together with the I864?
4) Is the address still valid?:
Director, National Visa Center
United States Department of State
ATTN: CMR
32 Rochester Avenue
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909
Thank you guys for your support. I have been recommending this page to many friends so far, and they all love it!

Hello,
I have a few more questions about the I864:
1) Right now I have following mailing address:
National Visa Center
ATTN: CMR
32 Rochester Avenue
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909
- Is this one still correct?
2) We downloaded the I864 from the USCIS website. Based on the instructions, we would have to deliver the federal tax returns for the last three years. However, I have read that only one tax return might be required.
- Do we have to send the federal tax returns for the last or the last three years?
- Are W2's required?
- Are pay stubs required?
3) Is the form on the USCIS website (11/05/01) still the most recent one?
4) We sent the check for the AOS Fee Bill today, by overnight courier. Is it reasonable to assume that the NVC will generate the I864 form next Monday?
Thank you,
Michigan

Hello,
I have found too much conflicting information about the mailing addresses, so I would like to double-check them again.
For the DS 3032:
National Visa Center
Attention ACL
32 Rochester Ave
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909
For the AOS Fee Bill:
National Visa Center
P.O. Box 790135
St. Louis, MO 63179-0135
Is this correct? Zip codes / P.O. Boxes?
Thank you guys,
Michigan

Hello,
Another question regarding the Automated Voice Response System. It says that our case was entered into the NVC computer system on June 9 and that we should allow them 6-8 weeks to inform the beneficiary.
What does it mean? That they generated the DS3032 already? Or will the system mention the generation of the DS3032, the AOS Fee Bill and so on separately?
Thank you,
Michigan

Okay, thanks!

Is it the US citizen or the foreign spouse? I assume the US citizen?
And is the format always [LAST NAME, FIRST NAME MIDDLE NAME]?
Thank you.

Hello,
Would it be useful to create cover sheets for all the mail we will send to the NVC? Or should we just use the documents they provide, without creating any additional documents / cover sheets?
Thanks
-
Hello,
We are getting ready for the next big step, the NVC. Just two questions:
A: Does it still hold true that the DS3032 and the AOS Fee Bill get generated the same day, usually on a Tuesday?
B: Has anyone experienced problems with James's shortcut recently?
Thank you,

Hello,
How do I know whether our application is a CR1 or IR1? We got married earlier this year - does it mean that it always is a CR1?
Thank you,

The barcode appears as a big red "X". Any idea?

Hello,
I tried to create a barcode on www.idautomation.com, but it does not seem to work anymore. Has someone else experienced the same problem?

Hello,
Does anyone know the implications of getting turned around at the airport?
Would we have to start the entire visa process over again?
Or would it have other negative side effects on our current visa application?
Could I try it later on at a different POE again?
Thank you,

Hello,
Just to make sure that I understood this correctly: There is a chance to get cleared in Dublin already? Will there be another clearance upon arrival in the States?
Thank you.

Hello,
I am supposed to travel to the US again, but this time for business (although I hope to have chance to see my wife at the weekend). Does anyone know if the immigration officers can see right away that we applied for a visa? I am afraid that they might think "he is not honest, let's send him back".
Thanks,
M

Hallo,
