  1. Hello I hope that someone in here can guide me or show me a light at the end of this very dark tunnel. I will try to make my story short we recently moved to Florida from California just a month after getting here on our way to DMV to change our license plates they broke into our car and stole all our belongings meaning all of our personal identification they stole ny husbands greencard Social Security card even his passport, leaving him with out any Identification and leaving us on a huge bind since my husband was working here at government building and not being able to show his ID to enter he was layed off with that said his greencard is coming to be renewed in May just a month away I already sent in the packet for the I751 and the I90 including a fee waiver because with him unemployed we dont have 1200 dollars to pay at this moment, the two packets were sent right back stating I had not given enough evidence of a hardship 😔🤔 my question now is and here is where I need help If anyone has maybe had a similar experience I am terrified that we will not get the I751 in on time and that my husband can even be deported. has anyone filed a fee waiver ? and has been successful in getting it approved? also should I only focus on sending the I751 first and then sending the I90 after ? in case they dont approve the fee waiver again ? if someone can please help me here maybe guide me I am desperate.

  2. Ours was a renewal and this is how I did it:

Called to make an expedite request.

Was told to wait until they need something.

Received a letter to send proof of financial hardship.

I send bill statements, a new auto loan and a pay stub from his job. (Renewal EAD due to 16 months pending AOS)

Received letter that expedite was granted.

Details about the dates in my signature.

I am not sure about the 75 day deal, you may or may not have to wait for 75 days, see what they say.

Sometimes they do not follow their own regulations.

Forgot to mention that they stated to fax it to the number provided in the letter which we did.

He was approved ONE day before his old EAD expired.

awesome thank you so much for all of the info we will be calling them today and asking about the expedite :) i hope we get it

  3. Hello all,

I have a few questions i brought my husband on a K-1 Visa from Venezuela he arrived in May and we got married in June we filed for an AOS last week and we received a text with a case number already, i was told by a friend i could do an expedite for the work authorization has anyone done this before ? I just found that I am pregnant and my husband really wants to start work as soon as possible, can anyone help and see if an expedite for the work authorization really exists and if not how long is a work authorization taking ?

thank you in advance for all of your help

  4. All experiences seem similar so far, so I will give you a piece of advice because I was in a similar situation before.

It is better not to assume that the CBP officer will be bilingual or that there will be someone that speaks Spanish within reach. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

I came as a tourist once with my mom. We entered through SFO (rather important, high traffic airport).

I asked the officer if he could go ahead and ask questions to my mom in Spanish since she doesn't know English. He looked puzzled and told me that he did not know Spanish and there was no other officer at the time that did. But if we really wanted her to answer the questions, he could send us to secondary and someone there would either speak Spanish or ask some other airport personnel to help. I giggled and said, I will answer for the both of us... English will do... She will have another chance to practice, ha ha.

Sooooo if it just so happens that the CBP officer does not speak Spanish and there is no other officer available, he will be sent to secondary and someone eventually will come and help. He should not worry.

NOW... What would definitely help, and the CBP officer told me directly, is for me to write a letter for her if she was traveling alone.

That letter would be for her to present to the CBP officer, stating:

1.That she does not speak English,

    2.The purpose of travel,

    3. Lenght of stay (in this case is a K1, so just explain that),

    4. The intended address to stay,

    5. A phone number and name for US contact

If you wish, you could also respectfully request a Spanish translator in the letter.

CBP officer told me that would make things easier as sometimes his colleagues (in his own words) can become frustrated or get the wrong impression from nervous people or people with whom there is a communication barrier.

I hope this helps and of course I hope your fiancé's experience is smoother as so many others have explained.

    All the best!

    UnaMexicana

OMG I didn't think of this this will be so helpful for him thank you so much Una Mexicana

Thank you all for the tips and help I have been taking notes LOL. We are at the end of this journey and I want to see him come out of that gate already LOL

  5. I'm the wrong person to ask that because my entry was super smooth. I didn't have to go through secondary and only questions I got was for how long I would be in the US and I told him I arrived on a K1 and then he started processing it. Only question after that was if it was normal for women in Sweden to go through military service because he saw my military records and he was curious.

I believe that sometimes they will ask about the name of your fiance, ask about wedding plans etc. I guess kind of like during the embassy interview.

that's what I thought and I have been reading about it also depends on the officer.. thank you so much for your help :)

  6. They don't always bring K1 people to secondary, it depends on how busy the CBP officers are and if they feel they have time to process it themselves or not.

Going to secondary is not much different than the first one. They will ask him a bunch of questions (nothing to worry about, most likely it will be very similar to the questions asked by the first officer) and then he will be on his way. Be prepared it can take a while though to go through. When I was in secondary it took me about an hour extra because they were checking bags of some of the passengers who were waiting in front of me.

Thank you so much what are the questions they usually ask ? just so we can prepare I am guessing they might be similar to the ones at the embassy ?

  7. First of all, congrats! :) This is the last mile, soon you'll be together!

My husband spoke little to no English flying in (and he had to make a connection in Europe). Here is what we've done:

    1) go over the whole procedure together with him: airport maps, fingerprints, which line he should go in, where you'll be waiting for him etc. The fewer obstacles the better.

    2) Have him memorize or at least be able to recognize some of the most basic questions: "Who are you visiting? What is your visa? What is the name of your fiance? Do you know you have to get married in 90 days? What are you plans for marriage?"

    3) Don't sweat it. Customs officers deal with hundreds of people speaking very little to no English every day. And Spanish if indeed a very common language - if needed, he'll have no trouble finding an interpreter.

    Best of luck!

    Hi Naire 37

thank you for your response I am a little nervous I just want to make sure everything goes smoothly the whole immigration part can be a little intimidating do you know what line he should go to ?

  8. You don't need to worry about him not speaking English, speaking Spanish only is very common at LAX, the majority of CBP officers there speak Spanish as well.

Wait time depends, but he will be going to secondary inspection so it won't be super fast.

My tip to you, tell him to be completely honest with CBP and he shouldn't have any problems.

    Hi ,

thank you so much for your response can you tell me what the secondary inspection is ?

  9. Hi All,

My Fiance is flying in from Venezuela on Friday to LAX is his first time flying internationally and I am a little nervous he doesn't speak any English , and my worry is when he has to go thru immigration. Has anybody had a similar experience that they can share with me ? I hear that the LAX International airport is very busy so I am preparing for a long wait.

any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

  10. Hi all,

this question might of been asked before, my boyfriends visa was approved last month December 15th to be exact, he picked up his passport and sealed packet from the local courier today, after checking all of his information we noticed that there is two different expiration dates

    Visa expiration date : June 17th 2016

    Petition expiration date : April 5th 2106

He will be coming to the US May 17th should I be worried about the petition expiration date? does he have to travel before the petition expiration date? can he have issues when he reaches POE? why is this date marked on the visa?

thank you in advance for all of your help

  12. Hello,

out of curiosity does my fiancé have to take a new G325 form with him to his interview ? or does he take the one I initially submitted to the USCIS ? I don't see anything mentioning the G325 at the interview stage so I was wondering, also if is needed to fill out a new one with a more recent date would he need to take original with my original signature ?

thank you in advance just making sure he has the correct paper work

  13. first cousin marriage is legal in California as well as same sex marriage, as for the text messages you can always do screenshots I did that for my petition I sent tons of chats and text messages ( is better to be over prepared ) also print out phone logs from your phone company that shows you guys also communicate over the phone, pictures if you took any when you were in Vietnam.. by the time she has her interview you should have a little more evidence for her to take to the embassy.. Good luck to the both of you :)

  14. I finally got my case from the NVC even an invoice number I am not sure what is needed for.. I was searching the sample forms here and there is a form DS230 who fills this out ? and where do I go to get it ? does my fiancé take this to his interview ? I haven't heard many people mentioned this form... also when I go into the ceac.state.gov website it shows ready but the same case number twice is this a problem ? I asked the lady at the NVC if I can fill out the DS160 for my fiancé she said yeah has anyone done that before ? thank you in advance

  15. HI,

so I am getting ready to send my fiancé the original documents that he will need at his interview... we don't have an interview yet but the mail in Venezuela is real slow so I am preparing ahead of time , anyways I have a few questions regarding the I-134 I did a research here I even seen the sample form VJ has however is not specific to what I need so if anyone here who has filed before with similarity please help :

Question 3 Name of spouse and children accompanying or FOLLOWING to join person :

My fiancé has a 14 year old daughter who we added on the petition we were told we had to even if she wasn't traveling with him , she will not be joining my fiancé when he comes and will probably be joining him years down the road once she is 18 my question is even though she wont be joining or following him at this time do I need to add her to question 3?

    Question 7 Income portion :

I did a research before I asked this one but I read different things about it on the savings account portion do I need to disclose how much I have ? I had to use my savings this year my daughter had surgery so there is really nothing there I make more then 125% of the poverty requirements for my family size.. do I just put N/A or 0?

Also is a 401K consider a stock or bond should I add that on that line ? I have statements that I was planning to send anyways.

I also have life insurance where my daughters are the main beneficiaries I downloaded the policy do I need to include? and under the life insurance question it says with a cash surrender value of is this pertaining to the life insurance ?

    Question 9 I have previously submitted affidavit ( s ) of support for the following person ( s )

Question 10 : I have submitted a visa petition to US Citizenship and Immigration Services on behalf of the following persons :

I currently have two petitions going an I-30 for my Mom and of course the K1 for my fiancé they both happen to be at the NVC stage do I need to add both of their names to these questions ? on question 9 it says previously as I mentioned I am working on both petitions I am still working on my Mom's affidavit of support so I am not sure if I should add her to question 9 the sample I-134 here shows the fiancé ( beneficiary ) being added to question 9.

    Question 11:

I Have wrote the following " N/A process for permanent residence . I will be fully supporting my fiancé upon his arrival and after marriage " I hope this is the correct way to answer this question.

Thank you in advance for the help :)

  16. Call and have NVC review your choice of agent (DS-261, this is what i assume you mean by Ds-160). Once they review it, they will automatically generate an IV invoice for you and then you can pay the IV fee). After you pay the fee, you can complete the DS-260.

yes LOL sorry there is so many form numbers yes choice of agent I still haven't sent my packets my Mom is still gathering some final stuff I hope once I pay the IV fee packets have been sent

    Thank you :)

  17. Hi,

so I have quick question on my Mom's petition I want to make sure I am doing this process correctly. I payed AOS ( $120 Fee ) on Thursday last week and submitted the DS-160 same day I checked today and status on the AOS shows paid .... how long does it take for the IV fee to show available to pay on the website ? and is that when I have to fill out the IV application for my Mom ? I am doing it from here since Internet in Venezuela is not good and she is not very much computer literate, in the mean time my mom is gathering the necessary paper work to send my way so I can send to the NVC.

please advise if this sounds correct or if I am missing a step..

    thank you

  18. Sorry, but I am not up to speed on all things dealing with K1 through Venezuela. But here is what I recommend. Follow this link to the K1 immigration guide over in the US Embassy in Venezuela and do a little research there. If you have additional questions, try and email the Embassy for their help for the answer to your questions.

    http://caracas.usembassy.gov/k1k2.html

Also, try and find others here who are processing through Venezuela for help. Under your profile on the left side of this page is a way to track your timeline. Select "timeline" and then next to your profile picture is "follow similar timelines" link. Select it and it will populate a page with others who are processing. I see 6 people with similar timelines as yours. Select any one of them. On the right hand side of their profile you will see "send me a message" and then compose your question to send as a private message asking for help. I'm sure someone there will help you along with your questions.

    Thank you so much :)
