  1. I was thinking of doing that, but wasn't sure when I'd be coming back.

I booked a 1 way with Norwegian in the end. Wasn't too bad actually since I wasn't fussy about which day.

£359 from gatwick to LA with 2x 20kg

Do you get instructions with the paperwork you get back with the passport as they never mentioned it at the interview?

If you haven't booked flights yet, check with your US spouse and see if they have AAA. I booked my round trip and one way through them and they were by far the cheapest!

  2. Cheers DJ,

congratulations on getting your visa too :)

The interview was a bit of an anti-climax, still got to wait for my passport though... (and then I suppose we get 21 months grace before round 2)!!!

I'll be headed out at the end of October :D

    Congrats everyone!

Visa approved pending medical review which was confirmed done and sent over more than a week before interview. I am traveling to the UK in two weeks!! Woo Hoo. Then we are scheduled to return together at the end of Oct.

    Safe travels everyone!

  3. Ah, as the petitioner in the US you have more clout than a UK citizen over US matters.

I am curious to know how your requests would fall within the FOIA? Presumably you'd have to send a specific request to a specific email at NVC not nvcinquiry and then they might tell you what information they hold on you? Does the Act extend to releasing private information into (what they would term) the public realm, especially as that same information would contain the details of a foreign National? (Obviously US legalese is something I have yet to familiarise myself with).

The last email confirms receipt of all required documentation to NVC and that the relevant parties will be notified of an interview when one has been scheduled (pretty much using those words, it's a fairly terse note!). I don't quite see how such an email, that has not yet been issued, would fall within the parameters of the FOIA and would be interested to know from which angle you'd persue it. (Feel free to pm me if you are willing to answer but not in the public arena) :)

Just an FYI update on this. I received an email response to my request to nvcinquiry this morning at 5:32 a.m. PST. As I said, they have been responsive to my email requests. I believe it is in the wording used within the body of the email. My email was from Bob....thanks Bob! :)

  4. This is a lie from NVC as they are saying this about every country.

Looks like a load were scheduled yesterday, for a handful of countries...hopefully this is a good sign that we should hear something soon

No word here either. Still no CC email for me just my phone confirmation on the 6th of August. I am getting anxious as I know November and December are Holiday months and many employees take that time off. Cannot imagine too many interviews get done at the end of November or December.

  5. Thank you for the reply, I just assumed that when it comes to the visa process that there was no such thing as an unacceptable waiting time, apparently we are all supposed to be most grateful that they are letting us in at all (something I see Donald Trump has views on!!) ;)

Yes, well, if we were all Donald Trump we could just purchase us a Senator or two and I bet this Visa process thing would go much faster!!!!

I PM'd you. However, I will say I am not requesting an email that has yet to be generated, I am requesting a case status update. When you email, make sure to include your case #, Beneficiary name DOB and Petitioner name and DOB. Responses should be timely, waiting 6 weeks for a response is unacceptable.

  7. That's good to know but I must say it put me off bothering emailing them ever again!

I technically consider my requests a Freedom of Information Act request and they have 10 days to respond. I have yet had to quote the government code section in my emails but if I don't hear back in 10 days they will get another email from me with legalese!!!

  8. Not sure if you've sent them emails before but I did way back when I was chasing my DS-261 Choice of Agent confirmation. I received the confirmation some while before nvcinquiry got back to me...

...Two emails were sent back then, a week apart, both replied to BUT it took them six weeks.

I wouldn't hold your breath on a speedy return (when they do get back to you they should be able to confirm that you received your appointment date some while back - heck you may even have had your interview ;) )

Actually, they have been rather prompt with the emails. I have sent several and get responses within a few days. I phoned and got a verbal confirmation that our case completed on August 1, 2015 but have yet to have an email stating such. I would like to have a formal email so that when he visits we can prove his intent not to stay.

  9. We had planned a visit in June but postponed when we got our case transferred to the NVC thinking that from there we'd be done in 30 days...lol...boy was I naive.

When we filed way back when, one of our Brit friends who had gone through the process said 'oh its going to take a year'

I was like 'f**k off 3 months tops'............................hmmm naivity is common to us lol

LOL. Yes, I have an Irish friend and they did their case a bit different but took her nearly three years to complete the process!! What a nightmare!!!

  10. Going to wait till the end of the month, if no interview, my wife is coming to the UK for a week, not seen her since our wedding anniversary in April

I sent an email to nvcinquiry. Was tired of trying to phone. I know how you feel, have not seen my husband since Nov of 2014. We had planned a visit in June but postponed when we got our case transferred to the NVC thinking that from there we'd be done in 30 days...lol...boy was I naive.

  11. I was planning on doing it in the next week or two... then saw this by Geosavygirl

... so I thought I'd ask, did you call NVC or the Doctor's?

NVC specifically state somewhere in their blurb that CR-1's shouldn't book the medical prior to receiving an interview date but I thought I'd read someplace about people doing it anyway. My only concern with doing it a while before the interview is that it gives bureaucracy a longer timeframe in which to lose the medical results!! I'm quite keen to get it out of the way because it's a major pain to make the round trip from Devon as it is without squeezing it into their timetable rather than mine and I can think of little worse than making two visits to the Capital with only a short turnaround between them.

Otherwise the latest timescales for an interview suck big style. I was hoping for a mid-September interview with flight out at the end of October, just in time to spend a relaxed weekend in Savannah whilst my good lady beats her running shoes on the road, she is going to be even less happy than me if I don't get to drive her to Georgia! :(

I called NVC on August 6. She stated since they could not guarantee timeframe on interviews they do not want medicals completed before interviews have been scheduled. I guess, not postive, but medical exams are only good for a certain amount of time and right now it looks as though some people are waiting several months for an interview.

For us it is frustrating because my husband is in the highlands and has to fly down to London twice and some time reference would be nice.

  12. Devonian,

Not sure if you saw this post from yesterday. Looks like London is booked up for Sept.

So my wife got through to NVC, They are waiting for the London Embassy to give them the dates!

The woman estimated interviews will be in October

The reason the July CC didn't get interviews is the embassy didn't have any dates left

    Totally depressed now!

My Laptop died, wasn't sure the post had sent first time lol

Ugh Such a bummer!!!!! That means the rest of us might be looking at November dates! My cursed coworkers for teasing me that it would be on my one year anniversary!!!!

  14. Yeah id like to say that i'm not frustrated that we haven't. I'm running out of patience and have allot to sort out just would like a timeline to work towards :-/

That is what I hate! Not knowing or having a timeline. For me, the worst part of this process is the feeling of LIMBO! However, I have read some horror stories on here and I am thankful that, for the most part, our case has moved fairly smoothly through the process.

  15. I have traveled more than once during the process and had no issues at the desk if that helps as long as he goes home before the 3 months esta is up. I'm hoping an interview appointment letter will be enough to prove my intent, i mean we haven't gone through all this stuff the last 12 months to mess it up at the last hurdle.

But ideally i will have an interview before so i can just go and stay.

Good to know. Yes, I agree. This process has been lengthly and no one in their right mind would mess this up right at the end.

Yes, I saw your CC and I do hope for you that you hear soon and have an interview scheduled for Sept. Frankly, I am surprised you have not heard anything yet.

The spreadsheet shows that end of July CC are starting to get their interviews!!

  16. That is my thinking, if i don't get a September date hopefully i will have an October one. So i can just travel over for the wedding and come back for the interview. The only issue will be convincing passport control i'm coming home and the cost of course.

That is our concern too. I spoke to our local Congressman's office and they stated that travel was possible but up to the immigration officer at the port of entry whether or not they let you in. I'm going to phone NVC just to ensure that this doesn't affect our case if he tries to enter for the wedding.

  17. Hay guys,

fingers crossed we get an interview date in early Sep my sister in law is getting married end of Sep and i was hoping to make it.

    CC 16th of July

My sister marries at the end of Sept too. I am planning on calling NVC to see if we do not get a Sept interview date if he can travel over for the week of her wedding. My family traveled to Scotland to attend my wedding and my sisters soon to be husband walked me down the aisle. So, I really want my husband to be there. The stress of waiting!!!

Just out of curiosity, has anyone booked their medical yet?

I was planning on waiting until I had an interview date, but as it's now getting closer to September I'm assuming we aren't going to get much notice...

When I phoned on August 6, 2015, I specifically asked if we could schedule a medical and she stated, "No". She said we had to wait for an interview date because when you call to schedule they will ask you your interview date.
