Yodrak,
I think you have answered my question. That is an excellent answer. Thank you very much. I think you are correct to say income is income. I did claim it on my income tax. Thank you very much.

Hey all you people with fiances from Peru, I have a question. Do you have to attend the interview in Lima in order to receive a K-1 visa. On the the embassy information section on this page it says it is required, but is that accurate?
Sincerely.

Hey all,
I am starting to fill out the documents for the K-1 and I was wondering how do I enter my fiance's last names? Do I use both the paternal and maternal names?
Thanks,
Derek

Howdy all,
My girlfriend and I are starting to to start our k-1 journey and I am starting to plan everything out. I have a question that I am sure one you visajourneyers will be able to answer. Right now I am a grad student on a fellowship and the fellowship (a mix of assistantship and stipend) is above the poverty line, but I was wondering since it is mainly in the form of a stipend if that is an acceptable form of income? I also am going to work an internship this summer that will give me a total income foor 2006 that is above the poverty but not by leaps and bounds.
I also am going to graduate in December and I already have a accepted a job for January 2007. I am estimating if we start our documents in June, my girlfriend (future fiance) will have her K-1 interview in november or december. Will I be able to be use the new job as a future source of income?
Also, does the amount of savings you have affect the chances you have of receiving a visa?
I think those are all my money questions for now.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you,
Derek

Hey all,
My girlfriend and I are starting to think about getting engaged and are trying to plan things correctly. My girlfriend does not speak English very well, and I am nervous about this. What have other people in my position done to help their significant other assimilate to American culture? What did they do to learn English and to find a job? What did they during their first months here while they weren't working and were dependent on the USC? It just seems like those first few months are critical to the success of a relationship with a foreigner...Any advice or experiences would be great.
Thanks,
Derek
